As soon as I sat in her chair for my hair trial, I knew I was in good hands. I hadn't had my hair done since my senior prom and every blowout I've ever had disappears in a matter of hours. Needless to say, I was a total newbie to getting styled. I had some vague instructions/inspiration pictures, but Kristin really listened to me and offered her expertise when it was clear I really wasn't sure of my vision. During the trial, she tried out a couple different things and listened to me when I told her to use way more hairspray than she thought was necessary. I expected her to be on my a** for clear instructions for my bridesmaids, but she never pressured me to make decisions I didn't want to and was totally flexible to tailor each girl's style on the day-of without compromising on time. Even when someone in my party went MIA and threw off the timeline, Kristin kept her cool and pivoted to make the most of the time. We went in on a Sunday, so Kristin let us take over her studio so we could hang out together, get dressed, blast music, and eat snacks. She was a gracious host and even let our traveling makeup artists set up shop in her chairs. The space is also super funky and I am elated with how the pictures came out. As for the finished product - I could have cried. I felt like an absolute princess surrounded by a all of my fairy godmothers. My hair was better than I could have imagined because she was not afraid to use her judgement to create something she knew would be beautiful. She also deviated a bit (in the best way) from what we had done at the trial, which told me she was being very thoughtful and not just using muscle memory to play it safe. As I had a wedding coming up (and was new to the area), so I was a little lost on things like where to get my dress tailored, what Salons could handle large bridal parties and such. Laura was willing to take the time to give me suggestions from her years of experience in Ithaca!! Needless to say all of her recommendations were right on. But that's just the extras - I have now had both my hair cut and waxing done with Laura (2-3 times each). The hair cuts were really good, and she's great at taking practicality into the mix when cutting your hair. For example, I'm someone who likes to blow dry my hair only on occasion and then only do minimal styling. She took all of that into account and gave me a great haircut that could be worn naturally or with my novice level of styling (instead of giving me a really cute style that I could never hope to recreate on my own as I've often gotten before). As for waxing, she manages to keep a constant stream of friendly chatting going through the whole process so that you don't have time to think about the potential pain coming your way.
