I've been to this place a few times, and haven't really found anything on the menu that I've liked. I've given it multiple chances, but I've found this restaurant to be quite overhyped. The person making my food was not wearing gloves, which is not sanitary, and I did not observe him washing his hands before preparing it. So far I have tried the lamb over rice, spicy pasta, calzones and the pizza. The pizza and the calzone are fine, but I've gotten sick from the pasta both of the times that I have tried it, and the small amount of shrimp for the massive portion of pasta made me a little sad. The lamb over rice was alright, but I found the portion of meat was pretty small, which was the best part of the dish, and the lettuce was wilted and some pieces were brown and slimy so I had to pick them out. All their food is ridiculously greasy, which is great if that's what you are looking for, but I personally prefer my food with a little less oil. There is very limited seating and is very cramped, so be prepared to take it home and eat it. The wait times can be a little long, so definitely order online beforehand. It's open very late, so this place is probably best experienced coming back from a night out. read more

My husband and I ordered pizza at 11:11 PM. We were asked to pay for the pizza ahead of time instead of paying for the pizza upon arrival. We were told that we would receive a call once the pizza was on the way. We waited over an hour and made multiple attempts to contact the restaurant. The line was busy every time we called. The gyro is sliced from a rotating spit. The owner/manager was super nice and friendly. There's only 7-8 seats available inside. Most students are doing pick ups. I have to say, Italiano's is one of my favorite restaurant around Blacksburg because it's got some good food, has great portion sizing, and stays open way late. I would have to say the "Lamb Over Rice" is my favorite dish, with about half or even less amount of white sauce (not pictured). The Cheesesteak has to be my second favorite. Tastes great and comes close to the quality of an authentic Philly Cheesesteak; Obviously Philly Cheesesteaks are better. The wings were also pretty solid, majority were wings but the sizing was adequate and I was pleased with how they turned out. A little dry and tough but nonetheless tasted good. The pasta however was pretty bad. It was way too heavy in cream and I simply did not enjoy this dish at all. Another plus is that the food stays piping hot even after their delivery! One thing I would take off points for would be their online ordering system. They have not followed my special requests twice in a row so just be cautious of that. I.e there was an option for a side of mayo on the Cheesesteak. I clicked that option and got mayo in my Cheesesteak, not too big of a deal but still. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. Listen... if you are looking for a fine dining establishment where you are waited on this is not the place BUT their food is out of this world. The chicken and lamb over rice is fantastic. It's reasonably priced with great portion sizing and is truly made with fresh ingredients. One time I found an onion skin in my bowl... I wasn't mad at it. That means the chef (or someone) is freshly peeling and cutting onions in the back. The chicken is cooked to be nice a juicy. The vegetables bring a perfect crunch and the lamb has great flavor without being too "lamby" if you know what I mean. I have been getting take out from here for nearly three years now and really see how they are trying to improve on the customer service end. They brought tables in which are great for when you are waiting for your order to be ready. The ambiance is definitely not the right ambiance for dining in but honestly picking it up is so quick and easy that it's not a bother to get takeout. You are allowed to eat inside there but nobody really does. The men working there are hard workers and have a very small staff so most of the time they are multitasking hence they come off rushed or unfriendly at times but they are nice guys! I see their growth and I applaud them for it. This place will be one of the things I miss most about Blacksburg come graduation. I have not tried their other foods because the rice plates are irresistible but I have heard that their calzones are really good too! The dirtiest restaurant in town with the rudest staff. Seriously, just go there and see for yourself. I've made the mistake of ordering a delivery on thanksgiving only cuz other places were closed and had to wait 1h30 min for a delivery which ended up not even arriving. When I called asking abt it, the driver picked up and claimed he called me when he was there and when I didn't pick up he just left lol. Keep in mind , it was a no contact drop off order. Italiano's is probably one of my favorite places in Blacksburg. Their food reminds me of halal guys in New York. Italiano's has so many options however I always get the lamb over rice. Which is equivalent to halal guys gyro over rice. However, at Italiano's its lamb not beef which makes it so much better in my opinion. I also get white sauce and barbecue sauce to the lamb over rice. The white sauce is nice and creamy very ranch like if you like ranch. While the barbecue sauce has a slight tang and sweetness which works well with the slightly salted lamb. The service is also always friendly, however if you order online, they sometimes mess it up or delivery time comes 30 minutes later than expected. So if you go to Italiano's I suggest going in person is the best and order take out. Overall, I highly suggest you go to Italiano's if you never been. At one point I wasn't sure if they were open, much less would deliver the food. But they eventually came with my food as ordered. Cajun fries are pretty good, the ranch dressing was a nice touch. The chicken philly on the other hand, I thought was relatively mediocre to the grandeur description listed on their website. While most people would rejoice to the overwhelming amount of meat, it was simply too much. And the cheese, the liquid "cheese" goo they used, is what really killed it for me.
