a variety of pastries in a box

I was craving desserts and this place was close by so I decided to give it a try. I got the eclair, strawberry shortcake, a brownie shortcake (forgot what's it called), and a foot long of homemade bread. The eclair and the shortcakes were just ok. The eclair pastry wasn't as soft on the outside and the filling didn't have much flavor. The strawberry shortcake was decent, the pound cake was moist. The brownie shortcake, however, was not good at all. The brownie was so dense and lack of flavor. The homemade bread was good, very fresh. The service was great and the overall price was reasonable.

I ordered custom cupcakes for my daughter's 16th birthday. They told me I had to call their Trenton location to place the order but they can ship to their Mercerville location. I called and told them I wanted light pink frosting that was flat on top and then with the number 16 on half and half drawn with makeup. They said they can do it. Today, I called Mercerville to say I was on my way. I went there and no cupcakes. The lady was so rude and said they can't get in touch with the other location - "they don't pick up the phone". I called them and then drove to Trenton to pick up out of desperation. The cupcakes are horrendous- an embarrassment. No 16 and then just placed picks on each cupcake- even the wrong color... and I paid for a custom order... absolutely horrendous service, absolute horrendous bakery - thank you Italian People's Bakery - you ruined my kids special day! If I could do negative stars, I would!

We went over the easter weekend and everything was so fresh and good!! There was a line outside as the demand was high due to the holiday. Definitely recommend their Easter bread, cream puffs, fresh rolls and brownies!

This bakery is a part of a chain of Italian People's bakeries that used to be scattered around Trenton, Hamilton, Chambersburg, and Bucks County, PA. The main bakery is still located on Butler Street in Trenton and is the last bakery in the city of Trenton. Mostly everything is baked at the Butler Street location. I visit one of the locations every time that I come to the area. It's just hard to find bakeries with supermarkets taking their business. If you want fresh, baked goods that are not baked in bulk, support your local bakery. This bakery sells cakes, cookies, donuts, canollis, cupcakes, bread, and rolls, among other goodies. I bought 2 cupcakes today. They were $1.15 each but werre worth it. They were soft and fresh. Come early for the donuts though to get the best variety because they sell out quickly. One small note, the owners should consider moving the table in the middle of the aisle off to the side. It is hard to look at the pastries through the glass when the line forms on one side of the table.

Terrible service and the cake, cookies and cupcakes we purchased were terrible and stale. They do not bake in house. Go anywhere else.

Staff is rude, and the baked goods taste like something you'd buy from a grocery store.

Keeping my "blinders" on, my mission is to get a few of those famous crispy bakes for my daughter's 26 birthday instead of buying a whole cake. My attendant, Eimau, (hope I spelled correcty, if not, my apologies) was so pleasant and his patience servicing me has me leaving with not only a few bakes, but cake pops, cupcakes and macaroons!! You have to try this nice place, so good. Thank you all for your service.

I returned to Lilla Vanilla after a mediocre visit a couple of months ago. I was initially on the…read morefence due to the two viral crunches I tried--only one was enjoyable--and I wasn't impressed with the service. That said, I don't believe in writing a place off after a single average experience, so I decided to give it a second chance. This time, I ordered two different viral crunches along with a croissant. Unfortunately, the results were disappointing across the board. The Mixed Berry Crunchy was cute in presentation, but that was its only redeeming quality. There was no bold--or even subtle--mixed berry flavor. At $10, it felt wildly overpriced and not worth the calories. Next was the Lemon Crunchy, which is supposed to feature a lemon blueberry flavor. As someone who loves lemon, I had high expectations, but once again it was bland and forgettable. Since this is a bakery, I also tried a fresh croissant and asked for it to be warmed. The staff accommodated the request, and it smelled incredible. It was warm, light, and flaky--but sadly, the flavor fell flat. A light brushing of butter on top would have gone a long way. For me, this is strike two. Unfortunately, Lilla Vanilla just isn't worth the money or the calories. Based on my experience--mediocre service on the first visit, bland and overpriced featured items on the second, and only neutral-to-slightly-positive notes on the croissant--I'd rate it 2 out of 5 . I seriously contemplated giving them 1 star but to be fair, the viral crunchy presentation was appealing and the croissant did have good texture (even if the flavor missed).

Many wonderful pies, cakes, cookies, and of course, their famous donuts. I particularly enjoyed their long donuts - perfectly fried, fluffy, filled with vanilla cream, which was smooth and just the amount of perfect sweetness. They do lots of custom orders, and do a lot to support the local schools. I recall seeing nice music themed cookies for sale which were in support of the middle school music program I believe. Very nice. We were lucky enough to meet the owner; she was enthusiastic, helpful and the perfect person to continue the joy of this bakery. Lots of parking side and back. Very much looking forward to our next visit!

While the interiors are modest, they make great use of the little space they have with a bakery counter and tables with a selection of seasonal/holiday treats. They had a decent variety of Easter themed cupcakes, chocolates, and cookies when I stopped in. Since it was my first time there, I asked the staff member what she recommended, and she beamed at me grabbing me a long cream-filled donut. I also got a piece of vanilla crumb cake since that jumped out at me. Both were a solid 4/5, with the cream-filled donut getting a slight edge in the taste department. The vanilla crumb cake was a huge slice, ideal for sharing or splitting up into multiple pieces. Service was friendly and prices on par with other area bakeries, with both items running just under $6 total. While I probably wouldn't venture out of my way to visit again, I would happily return if I was passing through the area in need of baked goods or treats, as I'm happy to support local businesses like these.

3 and 3/4 stars…read more Someone said a "slice of Boca"? No, not quite. (Although "not Boca" isn't necessarily a bad thing.) However you look at it, the comparison is inflated. The latte was good (not delicious), but a tad watery with a fullness of flavor missing. It was a rainy Saturday afternoon and the place was busy, but not overwhelming so. Tables were full, but it was only a short wait for me to place my simple order (by coffee shop standards) of a small, vanilla latte. However, once my order was taken (yes, the wait-server was pleasant) and I paid, I was left to figure it out. First time in and so I didn't know what the deal was: do I wait where I am? Pick up at a different counter? Ok...but where? Does someone call my drink out when it's ready (there's no put-your-name-on-a-cup thing -- which IS annoying, but apparently can be more handy than I've previously thought)? Is the order stated when the cup is placed down? The person who waited on me had vanished into a gaggle of chatting and giggling girls behind the counter, so I asked another customer. (FYI: you wait at the perpendicular counter to your left of the register.) No big deal, but it's one of those "little things" that separates the four stars from the five. I moved to the "wait" counter and observed a few drinks being placed down -- all beverages in similar cups -- and had to (again) ask someone else for help (i.e., which order was mine), as the barista who made my drink put it down and then disappeared into that gaggle of girls. (Also minor, but another separator of the three and three quarter stars from the four.) In short, the latte was good, but not the best. The service? Ok, but not the best. The ambiance? Again ok. Maybe because I've lived in SE Florida for more than 20 years, but it definitely does not have that true Boca feel. Nonetheless, given the options in the area, Hamilatte is a welcome attempt at something different, and definitely a preferred choice to Starbucks. I will return if I'm nearby, but I won't go out of my way (as I do for a truly 5-star establishment).
