    Fruit Croissant
    Daniel T.

TLDR: Solid pastries made with high quality ingredients in a no frills store. I would go again to get anything in the store earlier in the day. I got a fruit croissant. Each time I step into the small store I'm immediately greeted and helped by one of the friendly staff. This time was no different! I went near the end of the day, so selection was limited. I got one of the fruit croissant as a snack. The treat is filled with some sort of custard (I don't know my pastries very well) and topped with some sort of fruit (depending on your choice). While the custard-fruit combo is wonderfully sweet and juicy, the trade off is a slightly dense croissant. This isn't your perfect pillowy, flaky croissant, it's a vehicle for the "filling". I personally enjoy the pastry, but it's not for everyone. That's not a problem though because the bakery has many other wonderful options. Tip: As with most bakeries, go earlier in the day to get baked goodies at their peak

We used to frequent this bakery quite often but noticed in recent years, their quality has really gone done. We ordered danish and some scones but they were so dry and clearly old.

    Smoked salmon sandwich with guacamole

Love love LOVE this place! Can't wait to try more of their food. I had the smoked salmon sandwich with guacamole and it was amazing. I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh it was. I got that, and a butter pecan cookie which totaled $9.60 -- VERY low for the area and quality! The lunch was filling which made it even better for the price. I went on a Monday at 12:15pm. One thing to note would be that even though it was a really slow day in town and not many people were there, a lot of things were already picked through. I imagine on a busier day they wouldn't have anything left.

Really bad baked bread, you can buy better quality sourdough in the local ShopRite for a half a price. Full of holes, impossible to separate slices without tearing it a part.

Had their sourdough and it has no taste at all....the interior looks just like a normal bread...

I'd like the preface this review by saying I really love the bread from this bakery. But today I found a giant hair ball in the bread which is really unsanitary and just gross. I'm disappointed to the say least.

Its recipes for authentic French bread, pastries and crepes have no peer in the vicinity. Part of the new Marketplace on River Road, Hopewell, NJ, the shop feels cozy and continental from the boulangerie (bakery) display of delicious looking French breads, glass display case full of luscious fruit pastry , to the glass enclosed creperie corner where a skilled chef works the round hot steel grill to prepare a variety of sweet or savory delights. I opted for a breakfast oriented savory with local country sausage, soft swiss cheese, reduced onion and greens, all done while I watched behind the glass, and finished with careful folds and insertion into insulated wrapping paper followed by a white thin cardboard cone. Its wonderful flavor lingers on my tongue as I draft this review. The Lemon Brioche was likewise amazing to behold and exemplary to consume. Soft, sweet, tart at heart from excellent lemon cream and an eye rolling experience. The Cafe Americaine was the perfect washdown and palette cleanser. Loved almost everything about L'Annexe, but the cost. The above came in at $26, plus tip. Certainly can't be a routine petit dejuene, nor should it be. But, when the moment calls for sweet or savory indulgences, Mamie Colette belongs on your bucket list.

Many wonderful pies, cakes, cookies, and of course, their famous donuts. I particularly enjoyed their long donuts - perfectly fried, fluffy, filled with vanilla cream, which was smooth and just the amount of perfect sweetness. They do lots of custom orders, and do a lot to support the local schools. I recall seeing nice music themed cookies for sale which were in support of the middle school music program I believe. Very nice. We were lucky enough to meet the owner; she was enthusiastic, helpful and the perfect person to continue the joy of this bakery. Lots of parking side and back. Very much looking forward to our next visit!

While the interiors are modest, they make great use of the little space they have with a bakery counter and tables with a selection of seasonal/holiday treats. They had a decent variety of Easter themed cupcakes, chocolates, and cookies when I stopped in. Since it was my first time there, I asked the staff member what she recommended, and she beamed at me grabbing me a long cream-filled donut. I also got a piece of vanilla crumb cake since that jumped out at me. Both were a solid 4/5, with the cream-filled donut getting a slight edge in the taste department. The vanilla crumb cake was a huge slice, ideal for sharing or splitting up into multiple pieces. Service was friendly and prices on par with other area bakeries, with both items running just under $6 total. While I probably wouldn't venture out of my way to visit again, I would happily return if I was passing through the area in need of baked goods or treats, as I'm happy to support local businesses like these.

I came…read moreacross a post on social media about a magazine naming The Gingered Peach as one of the best bakeries in New Jersey. From there, I gave them a follow on social media and checked out their website. Sadly, the bakery is about an hour from where I live, but it's about 15-20 minutes from where I work. However, they usually close at 3 pm, which means I would be scrambling in right before they close or I may not make it at all. Bummer! Needless to say, I saw they do dessert orders for the holidays, so that was my golden opportunity! For Thanksgiving, I ordered a purple sweet potato pie and a banana pudding pie. I got to select the date that I'd be picking up my pies, which was on a day that I had to go to the office. During the week leading up to Thanksgiving, the bakery was closed for regular operations. They were only open for dessert pick ups. The pies were a hit! The banana pudding pie was everyone's favorite. Needless to say, for Christmas, a larger order was placed for banana pudding pie, salted honey pie, apple crumb pie, and mashed potato rolls. Now for Christmas, the bakery was open for regular operations and you had to pick up your pre-ordered desserts at their sister business, Melba Ice Creamery, around the corner. Because it was Christmas Eve and I already had a slew of sweets pre-ordered, I decided not to try to go to the bakery that day. Nevertheless, the goods were a hit again! The only downside is that the crust on the banana pudding pie was a little different the second time around, making it tougher to slice and get out of the pan. It was still tasty though! Would I return? Absolutely!
