Assortment of bagels

I discovered this place as a pickup location for GrubHub. I believe they are under new management since March. Hell of a time to start business with this whole COVID situation going on but they have still managed to come off to great start. I ordered their grand slam sandwich and it was amazing. The bagel was so soft and the ingredients were fresh. Bacon was cooked perfectly as well! Friendly staff and Dave, the manager/owner is very personal and customer friendly as well. Dave informed me that he makes his pancakes and French toast from scratch and that they are the best. He definitely lived up to the pancakes as they were super moist and flavorful. I got the pancakes the second time I was there, still have to try the French toast. This is hands down our new breakfast spot in the neighborhood and we will be regular customers from here on out.

All Star Bagels on White Horse Road across from the Hamilton Police Department, is a fairly new entry to this small strip that also houses the excellent Joey's Pizza. It is a family business, with a larger footprint than needed for their predominantly takeout trade. Still, it is clean and friendly. I stopped in for a post court breakfast of onion bagel, butter and swiss sammy and java. There were about 6-8 tables, but I opted to take my order to the office for consumption while I worked. The bagel was a nice size, fresh and with lots of sprinkled roasted onion flakes. No problem there at all. If I have any faintness in my praise it was that the crust of the bagel was not crisp, but more like that found on a regular slice of bread. It was not distinguishable from the meat inside the rounder, but for the onion bits. Perhaps, it didn't spend enough time in the hot bath before baking. Still, many people prefer this style, so it is more a choice than a criticism. As I enjoy more of a snappy chew, this was not my cup of tea, but it was satisfactory at the least.

Bumping then up to 4 stars! This morning we ordered our weekly doordash delivery and something magical happened...these bagels were definitely not the same as the mediocre but warm and always fresh bagels we received the last 4 times we've ordered from ASB; thebagels that arrived this morning still so warm and fresh were phenomenal. I mean really really good. Did they change bakers? Did they change owners? A new recipe? Maybe I just got used to them? Whatever it was I was transported back to a time when we could go to NYC and get a great bagel...no toasting required. So, after I finished my salt bagel and was holding myself back from overindulgence as thoughts of a second bagel crossed my mind I asked the rest of my family as they prepared their own bagel with cream cheese, onions, tomatoes, etc. it was unanimous...was this the same place we've been ordering from or did someone from Staten Island or Brooklyn come in as a guest baker and surprise us? Whatever happened we may never know but please make them like this again next week!

These are the best bagels in the area. They are not doughy and are chewy just like New York bagels. Great sandwiches and friendly staff.

Many wonderful pies, cakes, cookies, and of course, their famous donuts. I particularly enjoyed their long donuts - perfectly fried, fluffy, filled with vanilla cream, which was smooth and just the amount of perfect sweetness. They do lots of custom orders, and do a lot to support the local schools. I recall seeing nice music themed cookies for sale which were in support of the middle school music program I believe. Very nice. We were lucky enough to meet the owner; she was enthusiastic, helpful and the perfect person to continue the joy of this bakery. Lots of parking side and back. Very much looking forward to our next visit!

While the interiors are modest, they make great use of the little space they have with a bakery counter and tables with a selection of seasonal/holiday treats. They had a decent variety of Easter themed cupcakes, chocolates, and cookies when I stopped in. Since it was my first time there, I asked the staff member what she recommended, and she beamed at me grabbing me a long cream-filled donut. I also got a piece of vanilla crumb cake since that jumped out at me. Both were a solid 4/5, with the cream-filled donut getting a slight edge in the taste department. The vanilla crumb cake was a huge slice, ideal for sharing or splitting up into multiple pieces. Service was friendly and prices on par with other area bakeries, with both items running just under $6 total. While I probably wouldn't venture out of my way to visit again, I would happily return if I was passing through the area in need of baked goods or treats, as I'm happy to support local businesses like these.

First off, just entering the bakery, the smell.... Although I already ate before arriving, I could…read moredefinitely eat again. Keeping my "blinders" on, my mission is to get a few of those famous crispy bakes for my daughter's 26 birthday instead of buying a whole cake. My attendant, Eimau, (hope I spelled correcty, if not, my apologies) was so pleasant and his patience servicing me has me leaving with not only a few bakes, but cake pops, cupcakes and macaroons!! You have to try this nice place, so good. Thank you all for your service.

I returned to Lilla Vanilla after a mediocre visit a couple of months ago. I was initially on the…read morefence due to the two viral crunches I tried--only one was enjoyable--and I wasn't impressed with the service. That said, I don't believe in writing a place off after a single average experience, so I decided to give it a second chance. This time, I ordered two different viral crunches along with a croissant. Unfortunately, the results were disappointing across the board. The Mixed Berry Crunchy was cute in presentation, but that was its only redeeming quality. There was no bold--or even subtle--mixed berry flavor. At $10, it felt wildly overpriced and not worth the calories. Next was the Lemon Crunchy, which is supposed to feature a lemon blueberry flavor. As someone who loves lemon, I had high expectations, but once again it was bland and forgettable. Since this is a bakery, I also tried a fresh croissant and asked for it to be warmed. The staff accommodated the request, and it smelled incredible. It was warm, light, and flaky--but sadly, the flavor fell flat. A light brushing of butter on top would have gone a long way. For me, this is strike two. Unfortunately, Lilla Vanilla just isn't worth the money or the calories. Based on my experience--mediocre service on the first visit, bland and overpriced featured items on the second, and only neutral-to-slightly-positive notes on the croissant--I'd rate it 2 out of 5 . I seriously contemplated giving them 1 star but to be fair, the viral crunchy presentation was appealing and the croissant did have good texture (even if the flavor missed).

But, the highlight goes to their amazing rye bread loaves. I picked up a seeded rye today. It was thin sliced and very fresh. As soon as I got home I lightly toasted two and spread sweet butter over them. With hot coffee washdown, they were delicious; slightly sour, and crispy to the last bite. Reminded of childhood when my grandmother and I would walk up to Broadway and 173 St. in Manhattan for a shopping excursion and always visit the local bakery for supplies. There was always a slice of bread for me handed over by the baker/owner who took pity on my slight frame. I also picked up several kielbasa sticks and a few noshes (pazciks, apple and strawberry cheese danish) to see how good they were. Yup. They were uber sweet, but damn good - but kind of messy to handle. The smoked sausage were all tasty and "snapped" on biting.
