Overall I found this place to be exactly in par for the value vs price comparison. The service was…read morevery good- friendly, accommodating and pretty fast for Florence standards. When you first walk in, you can appreciate the nice decor that reflects the Asian background of this restaurant. The location is walking distance of you are near cascine Park. I ordered the sautéed vegetables and the salmon curry. I found that both were made to my liking in terms of quality and seasoning. The vegetables were sautéed with just a tiny bit of salt. It could have used some pepper to really take it over the top but it was fine. The salmon was good quality esp for the price range and the curry was delicious! Bottom line...come here for the Thai it is delicious and you get to soak in Asia with the Asian ambience! Good for those staying near cascine. Pros Service Quality of food for the price Seasoning Healthy food factor was great for me :) healthy but delicious

In Niwa's case they've done a very good job of serving genuine food that correctly represents both Thai and Japanese cuisine. My friends and I ordered a series of dishes in order to sample all that the restaurant had to offer (ranging from pad thai to seared salmon) and discovered that not only were the dishes flavorful but also very filling. Definitely plan on popping in again. On a side note, the restaurant seems to fill up once it hits 9:00PM (or in Italian format 21:00) so make sure to come a little earlier if you don't want to wait.

My boyfriend and I came here while in Florence to also get a break from the local food (as most…read morereviews have said also). At first, we sat outside and our waitress came out to take our order. We ordered the pork dumpling appetizer (which was alright) and said we needed a little more time to decide on our main dishes. After she delivered our dumplings, she was never to be seen again, and we were waiting for at least 20 minutes... so we figured we would move inside to hope for better service. After moving in, we finally got our order taken by a new waiter and ordered the Thai fried rice and the spicy chicken skillet. The chicken dish came out in a normal amount of time (about 15 min) but there was no Thai fried rice. We figured maybe they were bringing it out right after the first dish. However, another 15 minutes went by and still no Thai fried rice, so we called the waiter over and asked about it. He was confused and brought us white rice and we said no we ordered the Thai fried rice... so finally he got it and you could tell the kitchen had forgotten about it and made it right then. The fried rice came out about 10 min after we said something to the waiter, so it was all very awkward timing of our food being brought out. As for the food, I thought it was average (I don't usually eat a lot of Asian food since I'm gluten free and in the US it doesn't agree with me), but my boyfriend does eat more of it and he said he would give this place a 1 out of 5 rating based on food and overall experience. I don't usually focus on negative factors of an experience, but this was not the best dining experience I have had, for sure.

When I walked by this particular restaurant I could hear the kitchen where they were cooking. If you aren't familiar there is a certain way you cook food in a wok, it's high heat and constant banging so the food is only cooked when it comes into contact of the screaming hot wok. That was a good sign. After some research, I settled on this spot due to the proximity to our hotel and the dishes that I would find more in line with what we were looking for. Reviews were quite mixed but it's due to the wide range of food. There were some Japanese, maybe thai in addition to the Chinese. From different pictures across multiple mediums the fish, water spinach and chicken looked good and usually correlated with good reviews so that's what we ordered. Having low expectations I was happily satisfied with their execution. Each dish was solid, nothing spectacular but really met our cravings and leaned more towards authentic than westernized Chinese food. If you are tired of pasta and like these 3 dishes I listed, check it out.
