It could have used some pepper to really take it over the top but it was fine. The salmon was good quality esp for the price range and the curry was delicious! In Niwa's case they've done a very good job of serving genuine food that correctly represents both Thai and Japanese cuisine. My friends and I ordered a series of dishes in order to sample all that the restaurant had to offer (ranging from pad thai to seared salmon) and discovered that not only were the dishes flavorful but also very filling. Definitely plan on popping in again. On a side note, the restaurant seems to fill up once it hits 9:00PM (or in Italian format 21:00) so make sure to come a little earlier if you don't want to wait.

We ordered the pork dumpling appetizer (which was alright) and said we needed a little more time to decide on our main dishes. After she delivered our dumplings, she was never to be seen again, and we were waiting for at least 20 minutes... so we figured we would move inside to hope for better service. After moving in, we finally got our order taken by a new waiter and ordered the Thai fried rice and the spicy chicken skillet. The chicken dish came out in a normal amount of time (about 15 min) but there was no Thai fried rice. We figured maybe they were bringing it out right after the first dish. However, another 15 minutes went by and still no Thai fried rice, so we called the waiter over and asked about it. He was confused and brought us white rice and we said no we ordered the Thai fried rice... so finally he got it and you could tell the kitchen had forgotten about it and made it right then. The fried rice came out about 10 min after we said something to the waiter, so it was all very awkward timing of our food being brought out. As for the food, I thought it was average (I don't usually eat a lot of Asian food since I'm gluten free and in the US it doesn't agree with me), but my boyfriend does eat more of it and he said he would give this place a 1 out of 5 rating based on food and overall experience.
