The food was amazing! I had calamari and pesto meatballs, a vegan dish. It is a must try. The 2 came up to $42 dollars but you get 4 nice size meatballs and a lot of calamari probably for two. This was my first time at ITA Bay Shore and overall, it was a positive experience. I ordered the Spicy Rigatoni with a mozzarella crown. My girlfriend ordered the fish. First we ordered the bread basket because we were starving. That was a little disappointing because the first piece of bread was dry. Also, it bums me out to pay for pre-dinner bread. Even the local pizzeria serves a very delicious offering of bread before dinner but I guess because ITA is elevated Italian, perhaps it's a little too casual for an upscale restaurant. So, the bad news is they forgot to hold the stratiacella cheese. Then when my pasta came out, it was cooked past al dente. I was disappointed but so hungry. So I ate it. Then as I was putting the leftovers in the bag, to take home, I decided to say something to the waitress. Having to reheat it would cook the already overcooked, would turn it in to mush. And that was a $28 pasta dish, not including the crown. So I decided to mention it to the waitress because I'm sure they would rather me tell them, than give a bad review. They immediately apologized and offered to make a brand new dish to take home. On top of that, they also comp'd to desserts!! The Rainbow Cookie Crumb Cake, which was divine, and the Pistashio Cheesecake, also outstanding. So they get an extra star for treating the customer right!! I would recommend and come back again. Celebrate my birthday with an amazing dinner at ITA Kitchen! The ambiance was perfect, the service was great, our server Gilberto knew all about the dishes and gave us great recommendations. Came here for date night on Saturday. We had an early reservation, around 5:30pm. It wasn't crowded but music was loud. They sat us towards the back. Nice seating area. I noticed later on that there was also seating outside. For drinks I had an espresso martini which was delicious and slightly different as they add Kahlua. My husband had a scotch on the rocks. Not much to say about that lol. For an appetizer we had the fig crostini. Highly recommend and would come here again to get this. For dinner, I had the Chicken Burrata Caprese. This portion was enough for two people. The chicken was crispy and the salad on top was fresh. My husband had the Sweet Chili Salmon. There was not a crumb left on his plate so I guess it was good. I had high hopes for this Italian restaurant, but unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The food was incredibly heavy, drowning in oil and cheese, making it difficult to enjoy. For the high prices they charge, I expected much better quality and balance in the dishes. The risotto balls were cold in the middle. The baked clams were lacking in flavor. The drinks were another disappointment--overly sweet and artificial-tasting, almost undrinkable. Espresso martini flight had carbonation in it which I've never seen. They were way too sweet. On top of that, the restaurant itself felt unclean, with sticky tables and a generally grimy atmosphere. Ex posted nails on the walls, pictures looked like they were cleaned in a while and dust on the couches. There were also buttons missing on the black couches so you can see the screws in the seating. The floor was also dirty along with the menus that looked like they were never cleaned. The dim lighting might have been intended to create ambiance, but it just made the place feel dark and uninviting. I was getting a headache because it was so incredibly dark inside. They advertise chicken tacos on their instagram but they were no where on the menu. I noticed a lot of people ordering out. Which I understand why now. They also make you put in your appetizer and entree in al at once. I understand if the restaurant was packed or if it's a large party but there were two other tables in the restaurant. I felt rushed. The waiter was mumbling and not clear with introducing himself or the menu. I asked for a recommendation and he just explained the dishes and read off the menu. It seemed that he didn't eat there before or was new. Overall, this was not worth the price. There are far better Italian restaurants out there that offer great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and reasonable prices. I won't be returning. read more

I've gotten takeout many times and the food, though a bit pricey, has always been very good. First time dining here and it was hit and miss. The inside space is a bit weird especially the bar area. The outdoor patio and side ally entrance is the best part, beautifully decorated and lit. You don't feel like you're in downtown Bay Shore. There is however a very strange tent all they way in the back with tables. I would have been upset if I was seated there. It seemed awkwardly temperature controlled and the feeling that you are dining with everyone in there, not private. A drawback to the outdoor area was that you could clearly hear the music from the restaurant next door. It was so loud, it was high anxiety inducing! Could not hear ITA's music at all. The food again was good, but with some issues. The regular salad was big, and had lovely and fresh ingredients, but was doused in salad dressing. To the point where that's all I could taste. I wanted to eat more but couldn't, the dressing was so overpowering. On the menu, you can get any pasta gluten free or with zucchini noodles. I asked for the zucchini noodles. Our friendly waiter wrote it down, but it was delivered to me with regular pasta. By the time he came back to check on us, I already ate half of it. It was very good, but not what i ordered. He said he could bring me a side of the zucchini noodles, but I said that wasn't necessary. Unfortunately nothing further was done about this mistake on the bill. We had to stop at ITA this past Friday night after a video of their chicken cutlet bowl went viral online. It was pretty easy for me to get a reservation before it turned late evening, so we had hopes that the dish might be available even though we read it was constantly sold out. After being greeted with super ice cold water (my favorite), we ordered drinks and an appetizer. Wait: we couldn't order an appetizer without having our full meal ready to be ordered, which was super annoying. After gazing at the menu, we ordered fried calamari, spicy rigatoni and the chicken cutlet bowl (so happy it was available!). Note: the chicken cutlet bowl is not listed on their regular menu. I found that a little odd as we couldn't see the price. We were served bread with olive oil and it was extremely delicious. Shortly after, our calamari came out and was pretty good. Wish it had a little more flavor, but we enjoyed it. Our main dishes soon arrived and I had to send mine back as I did not personally appreciate the lump of cheese on top. Our waiter had the chef make me a new dish which was great. My husband's pasta on top of his chicken cutlet bowl was not as spicy as mine (I think mine was too spicy, once again). I wish we could have switched. My husband's dish was enormous and he had to take half of it home. We waited for the check......and waited.....and waited. Our waiter disappeared and we finally flagged him down 15 minutes later, only for him to disappear for another 10. We were in a rush at this point and needed to leave. Annoyed that when we got our check, the chicken cutlet bowl was a whopping $45!!!!!! I thought that was insane. Had we have known that it was this pricy, I don't think my husband would have ordered it. Oh well. Just be prepared. Also, will note that the back of the restaurant is extremely tight. Came here for dinner on recommendation from my sister; it's one of her favorite restaurants (they have several locations and she likes the overall franchise). I had the linguini and clam sauce. I asked for a substitution for a thinner noodle (just my preference), but they said linguini was the smallest noodle offered. The sauce was one of the best I've had, white broth with very large garlic slices that were sweet and not bitter. Though the clams were limited to those presented in their shells only (no other clam bits in the sauce), I wanted to drink the whole thing. It was soooo good. My sister loves the chicken cutlet bowl. They had a "taco Tuesday" special where you get two breaded cutlets as your taco shell and your choice of pastas on the inside. I did the truffle cream sauce and it was to die for. Whether you're dining indoor, at the bar or outside with the gorgeous floral decor the staff is super attentive. Their food is not your traditional Italian but Italian with a flare. I love their baked clams, broccoli rabe and sausage egg rolls and the artichoke hearts oreganata for apps. The spicy rigatoni is amazing. My husband and I have been wanting to try this place and the perfect time was for my birthday dinner! We started out at the bar for happy hour with a few glasses of wine. Their happy hour is a great deal and the bar has plenty of seats at i We mixed on to our table for our reservation and started off with an order of the meatballs and calamari. The meatballs were delicious and a great size. They had more than enough sauce. The calamari was nice and crispy and tasty. For our entrees I ordered the Shrimp Luciano and I opted to add linguini to it and I was really happy with my decision. It was full of flavor and has a nice touch of garlic as well. My husband ordered the Chicken Picante which was spicy exactly how he likes it. He also added pasta to his. The portions were good as well as the price point. We both had enough to take leftovers home with us. I didn't get her name, but our waitress when we went was very nice and accommodating. Now to the food: I had the burrata ravioli and it was so yummy! The chicken bowl is a thin layer but adds that crunch factor. Creamy, cheesy, crispy. To be honest, I'm not sure if I would have enjoyed the meal as much as I did without it, but the whole combo together was pure chef's kiss. My family had enjoyed their pastas as well. Spicy rigatoni had a nice flavor. They also provide kid friendly options/portions The restaurant has a cute atmosphere. They do have outdoor seating. This review is for Brunch service. We had a pretty large group of 11 people. It took them a very long time to even take our orders. Our drinks took 45 minutes to come out. The food took almost 2 hours. They messed up one order so they had to then wait even longer for the correct meal. Mind you, we all ordered simple brunch items of eggs and waffles. What started off as a blah experience, ended up being a great experience by the last bite of the meal. Really a 3.5 review, but I will round up. My boyfriend and I arrived around 6ish for dinner. The hostess ended up also being our waitress. She was quite efficient. We started with some warm bread and seasoned oil. It was just okay. Nothing bad...just didn't blow us away or anything. We also ordered calamari as an appetizer. I was a bit concerned as there wasn't ONE picture on Yelp of the calamari, which is a very classic and traditional appetizer. We still ordered it as we love calamari. Calamari was very basic and underwhelming. Kinda tasted like frozen calamari that was flash fried. Marinara sauce also tasted like jarred sauce. Now the entrees. The WINNERS of the evening.... I ordered Sweet Chili Salmon with sautéed spinach. MOUTHGASM! The salmon was cooked perfectly and the flavors were unbelievable. The sweet chili complimented the salmon and spinach. I devoured and savored my dish as I didn't want it to end. My boyfriend ordered the chicken vodka parm. Something very unique that caught his eye and normally you just see regular parm on menus. The vodka sauce was delicious. It was also a pleasant surprise when there's more chicken than pasta served. If the fried chicken bowl is sold out put fried chicken cutlet on any of your pastas ( a lot cheaper too) Crowning your meal is overrated to me yet I've done it both times I've visited ITA. Predictably, our waiter never checked in to see if we needed anything or enjoyed what we had. I have to say- underwhelmed. I was so excited to go with my family for my birthday. I was told by several people that the bayshore Location had awful service but they were the only location that had availability for a party of 12 so I took a chance.. 1- we went during the week, and the music was incredibly loud. We absolutely could not even hear each other at the table. My dad wears a hearing aid and couldn't hear anything. I asked the waitress if she could lower the music and she did, but let us know that the manager would most likely make the volume louder again & he did. The restaurant was half empty and was an older crowd dining, so I'm not sure why the music needed to be blasting, especially since they put us at a table with a speaker right over our head. 2- The drinks were not good. Someone in my party ordered a gin and tonic, and there was absolutely no gin in the drink. They made the drink twice & was awful, they settled for a coke. 3- Although our waitress was nice- she missed two items we ordered because the music was blasting & I (as the birthday guest) didn't get my dessert, they put my candle in another persons dessert- she apologized and had it out quickly- but said "sorry- I didn't hear you"-- well-- lower the music? It's not that hard. 4- The food was good. I had truffle pesto pasta with a crown on it. The fresh mozzarella was good, nothing to write home about. Artichokes were great as well as the egg rolls. Everyone else said their food was good, nothing crazy. It was an ok experience. I want to try the garden city location- as it's known to be better there. Is it worth the hype? Maybe to some.
