We ordered the dragon roll that was deep fried with crispy tempura, spicy salmon, avocado & cucumber as well as the yakitori (grilled chicken) rice bowl. Very delicious! I had the deluxe Bento box with sushi, salmon rolls, bean sprout salad, tempura and noodles, also came with a small bowl of miso soup. It's was OK but the rice wasn't sticky and packed together, as it easily fell apart when I picked it up. Not a great thing when you're trying to dip it and it all falls apart in the sauce. I'm not sure if this is how it normally is, as this was my first time at a Teriyaki Corner. My nephew had the miso soup and California rolls, he must have liked it because he wanted a second order. Nothing great, just OK if in the area and craving Japanese. My go to place for a Fast food sushi fix is still Tokyo Express.

Overall it was an enjoyable meal. Service was friendly. I ordered in the restaurant and waited in the car for 30 minutes before picking up.

Recently they have opened up to having dine-in, and we thought we'd finally go back and have a meal in. I can't believe that I haven't written about Ichiban in the past. I love this little place. Quaint, unassuming, with all the atmosphere you'd expect from a small sushi shop. Ichiban has a very extensive menu, and most types of Japanese meals you can think of they have them. I have tried the odd few items on the menu, but I keep coming back to the sushi/rolls. Tonight's selection was not to disappoint as per all the prior visits to Ichiban. We ordered a Red Dragon, White Dragon and Tropical roll. Our servers were all decked out in protective gear, and I appreciate that, and were incredibly efficient. Tea and water was on the table in no time and the rolls were not far behind. Considering all of the walk-ins for take-out orders we saw, I was very pleasantly surprised to see how fast the kitchen and sushi chefs pump out the food. Rolls were delish as we had come to expect. Overall, this is my go-to for sushi. Moderately priced, fresh, tasty, great service. This is a winning recipe ! I'll be back to try out a few more of the large variety of rolls/maki on the menu.

The general pricing was actually fantastic though, and the food was good. Wasabi is more on the medium side, I like it super hot. My only real complaint was the miso. The miso was severely lacking. Portion size was great but it was basically all broth with zero tofu, a few slivers of kelp and like 5 pieces of green onion in it. Very flavourful broth though. That's why I gave it 4 stars. Miso isn't really a defining menu item but it's definitely one of my favourites so I was pretty disappointed. Otherwise tasty food and great service.

As I usually visit there alone, I mostly order the bento. The bentos have large portion that I usually have to take away the remaining in a box. The restaurant had only two tables and can seat 6 people max. The food was perfect and oh so fresh. Never had tuna sashimi that was so delicious in Edmonton. The beef tataki was sliced thin and immersed in this delightfully sour ponzu butter sauce. The seared toro nigiri and chop chop were the stars of the night. Service was attentive and amazing, granted we were the only ones there. Price was about $60 for two people but the quality of the fish made it very worth it. Can't wait to go back! But we definitely miss their ramen too!

They also own Menya Yuzen (which specializes in ramen). We dropped in on a Sunday evening (around 7:45pm). The inside is dinky with only three tables to fit 8 people total. Crazy small. Most people do takeout. Service was friendly and attentive. The menu is in a cute booklet; appetizers, sashimi, nigiri, aburi sushi, sushi combo, rice bowl, uramaki, chumaki/futomaki, hosomaki/cone, sushi burritos and combo options. - Miso soup ($2.50) - O got a small bowl to start. She said it was salty but good. - Tamago nigiri ($2.00) - tamago is always my benchmark on whether a place will have good nigiri. SY's was great. Great texture and slight sweetness to the egg. - Chop chop hosomaki ($4.25) - this was my favourite of the two hosomaki's. Really fresh, melt in your mouth. - Spicy tuna hosomaki ($4.25) - the spice is flavourful and nicely balanced. Good but small portions. - Inari nigiri ($2.00) - bean curd. The skin had a sweet, chewy texture. Basically, tofu wrapped around a ball of rice. - 2x Aburi salmon nigiri ($2.25) - I can only think of a few places in town that do aburi style sushi. These were nicely seared and melt in your mouth. - Salmon sashimi ($10.00 for 5) - fresh, good quality and reasonably sized pieces of salmon. Can't really ask for anything more. Good quality but pricey.
