Jack's Drive-In - jack's burger

Jack's Drive-In

Jack's drive-in, founded in 1961 in the small town of Spruce Grove by Larry Campbell and Jack…read moreClarke, is just a short drive west of Edmonton. It was originally a spot opened to prepare and serve ice cream and burgers to the locals and visiting folks. Throughout the years since the restaurant has been opened, it underwent many owners and renovations!! The restaurant is opened year round, but it is the perfect spot to go to during the summer month - on a nice summer day, my wife and I have gone there to eat and enjoy foods and nice weather. The restaurant has seating inside as well as outside, and of course the drive-thru. For the menu, you can except to find drive-in foods, such as burgers, hot dogs, delicious fries, fountain soda pops, ice cream and milkshakes. Jack's also serves breakfast!!! My favorite meal to eat there is either a cheeseburger or the Jack's Buffalo burger (buffalo pattie, BBQ sauce, Swiss cheese, tomato, lettuce, fried onions, bacon and mayo), a Pepsi, share a corn fritter with my wife and if I have space, a soft chocolate ice cream. If you don't feel like eating a burger, there are other options: hot dog, perogies, fish & chips, chicken fingers... just to name a few. Opened 7 days a week to serve you good foods!!

When the manager is hands on, it makes a big difference in the atmosphere of a restaurant, it''s smooth service and food quality. We love the nostalgic decor and music too. I give this iconic, one of a kind, favourite Spruce Grove diner a 10.

Then my car died, in a bit of an intrusive spot a bit shot of the parking stall I was aiming for. Two staff members at this Harvey's, who had just finished a shift and closed up, immediately came to my aid, helped push my vehicle into a stall, and even handed me a bag with some apple pies in it. This pretty much restored my faith in humanity at a time when I was questioning it. Thanks for everything.

I saw two tables where people sat and left and no clean up crew. No ones wiping down door handles or tables or surface areas including the many transaction in between. In fact it made me wonder where I sat down if they were wiped down. Because of this I will no longer eat at this facility. I felt they were Not taking Covid seriously enough for me. The women's bathroom was clean but the soap dispenser was disgusting. Tim Hortons at least places a mat on their tables and when the patron leaves they flip that mat to say needs sanitation. Pretty simple to me. More wiping on all services areas especially where people are coming in and out and the transaction machine. Pet Smart is really smart about they're pads. Disappointed by far.

Boardwalk Burgers is worth checking out…read more I found it's location to be very convenient, but somewhat hidden. Unless I have a reason to go to a hotel in the same city where I already have a house, I will never have a reason to drive by and see it. The building is clean and modern and looks like just about any other fast food burger joint should look. The biggest drawback is the lack of a drive-thru so getting takeout is going to take an extra step or two. The burgers themselves are pretty good. They ought to be since they cost $7+ per burger. While this is cheap compared to a restaurant, it's twice as much as your typical burger joint. Are the burgers better than what you would get at McDonalds, Wendy's, or A&W? Oh, definitely. Are they *twice* as good in order to justify twice the cost? I'm not entirely sure of that. They have a number of unique offerings (including the Hawaiian burger or the chipotle burger) and they have a unique bun that reminds me of a hot-cross bun. The spicy chicken burger was decent and so were the milkshakes (including the bizarre peanut butter milkshake). The fires were a little expensive, but they had quite a number of options to spice them up - including poutine. I had the regular fries and they were unsalted and bland - kind of like KFC fries. I recommend going a few times to explore the menu. I'm sure you'll find that they rank on the higher end of burger spectrum.
