ISSHIKI MATCHA @ NEW YORK CITY Subway or bus is definitely the easiest way to get here, but you can also Uber or find street parking. My friends and I took the subway, it was only about a 3-minute walk and cost around $3, which made it super convenient. I've been seeing this spot all over TikTok and Instagram, so I was really excited to try it. I ordered their strawberry matcha latte (about $9 for a medium), but honestly, it didn't quite hit. The flavor was pretty underwhelming, it leaned very milky, and I wish the matcha came through a lot stronger. I watched them make it, and it just seemed like there wasn't enough matcha added. The strawberry part was also a bit disappointing. It came from a jar rather than being made fresh in-house, which took away from the overall experience for me. I was expecting something a little more fresh and vibrant, especially with all the hype online. That said, the vibes are really cute. The space is aesthetic, the staff are super friendly, and it's a nice place to hang out. I'd be open to giving it another try, but next time I'd probably ask for a stronger matcha flavor or try a different drink. Overall, this one just felt a little too milky for my taste.

Ordered the double pistachio cream matcha with oat milk -- loved the crunch of the pistachio butter around the bottom of the cup. Pistachio taste was decent, might taste better with regular milk than an alternative. Strawberry matcha -- standard, nothing stood out but tastes good. Also with oat milk. We weren't able to try any sandos since they were sold out at the time, which was very sad, but I've heard great things! Definitely a nice spot to come by, plenty of seating, saw some people bring in their laptops with no problem. I love that it's an open layout, so the breeze comes in during hotter days & the bright layout is very aesthetic. Would definitely come back to try their sandos when available!
It was a cold day, we were looking for hot drinks, and we happened to stumble upon this place. We were instantly greeted as we walked in and handed over a menu. I decided to order a hot strawberry matcha. When ordering, the worker advised me that the strawberry matcha didn't taste too well "hot" and she gave me a few other recommendations. I ended up ordering a small hot caramel matcha and it was soooo good. It was creamy, frothy, and wasn't too sweet. It was pretty busy inside so we stood by the bar area to wait for our drinks. The inside is well decorated and had nice music playing.
Isshiki is best known for their strawberry matcha latte, and I finally came here to try their matcha and recently launched fruit sando (using milk bread from Pairing Cafe) ＊Strawberry Cream Sando $10 ＊Strawberry Matcha Cream Sando $11.5 ** You can add $1.5 to swap the original cream for matcha cream on any of their fruit sandos. The matcha version is my favorite, as the earthy flavor is balanced by the sweet and ripe strawberries. The strawberries are evenly layered throughout the entire sando, not just a few pieces you see in the cross section. ＊Strawberry Matcha Latte $8.5 (M) ** First time trying their bestselling strawberry matcha and WOW I get the hype! The housemade strawberry puree was amazing, with real strawberry bits throughout. The matcha was richer than expected too, which you could tell from its deep green color. ＊Egg Salad Sando $12.5 Loved that they offer a savory sando option! I just wish it had more filling for the price, as it felt on the smaller side. ＊White Chocolate Hojicha $9 (M) A warm, cozy drink perfect for a snowy day The hojicha was rich and chocolatey, with a nice foamy texture.
This was my first time trying Isshiki, and it didn't disappoint! It's quite spacious inside and nicely decorated (I heard they rent this space and it becomes a bar at night). Sadly I didn't get to try a matcha drink since it was later in the day and I wanted to be able to sleep well, so I got a hojicha latte with oat milk (no sweetener). It was sooo good. There's also a decent amount of seating available at tables and at the bar. The baristas were very nice as well, and our drinks didn't take too long to prepare.
A very convenient place to get matcha if you're near SoHo. There also is seating if you are working or chatting with a friend. I got the strawberry matcha latte. The menu is limited but the matcha itself is very strong which is something I enjoy. The taste of the matcha is more umami and grassy, but still enjoyable. My only suggestion is improving the strawberry syrup because it tasted more like a very concentrated jam, and it didn't complement the matcha as well as I would like. I would go back again because of the higher matcha quality and the stronger matcha taste. I wouldn't say it's my favorite place but compared to the rest of NY, it's more towards the top of my list.
Just had the worst experience at the grand location.. not only are they out of Melon for their deuce matcha, BUT THE STAFF IS SUPPER RUDE & HAD AN ATTITUDE THE ENTIRE TIME... I was simple tryin to ask if the other locations had the drink available
We came to Isshiki for a snack before lunch, so we only got the egg sando (~$12.50 including tax). The filling of the egg sando was creamy, with chunky cuts of egg, and it was overall flavorful. However, the filling was a little more chilled than I would have liked, the bread tasted a little dry, and the serving size was small for the price. You order in the bar area. If you order food, they will bring it to your seat when it's ready, and if you order a drink they will call it out for you to pick-up. I would be interested in trying the strawberry matcha if I'm ever in the area again. The café felt cozy due to the moss décor, and comfortable seating. There is one bathroom in the back that was spacious and clean.

Compared to many of the other matcha spots, they seem to specialize more in matcha drinks mixed with fruits and other things, similar to fruit tea places, which is a bit different. The prices ranged from $6.50 to $7.50 plus tax, depending on whether it was a small, medium, or large for a plain matcha latte, with there being no price difference if you get iced, which is a bit different, at least compared to most other spots. The staff was friendly, and I decided to get a large one as it was only a dollar difference anyway. The milk choices were whole, almond, or oat, and I went with whole, and the drink came out relatively quickly. The texture was fine, lacking any chalkiness, with the powder being properly whisked, but the flavor was lacking as compared to other places; I barely tasted the tea. I don't mind having milk, but this tastes like milk with a hint of matcha in it. Possibly the clue was the color being much lighter, but this is the first spot in a long while that I would compare negatively to my usual least favorite matcha spot, Cha Cha. If it were $5 or something, I might try once more, but at this price point, it's wasted. At least, I got a nice photo by the flowers with it.

My matcha lover friend raved about Isshiki Matcha, so I knew I had to try it for myself one day. I stopped by this Chinatown location. I heard good things about the strawberry match, so thats what I got. The Strawberry Matcha is quite good. The strawberry puree that they use has a very jam-y taste, but they load & line the cup with a good amount of it. They are not stingy with it, which is great! The matcha they use is good. It use good quality/amount of matcha powder inside. There is a good amount of drink inside - not filled with ice cubes, which I appreciate. Overall, I enjoyed this drink. read more
A strawberry matcha latte with oatmilk was in the cards on a hot weekend afternoon, and I was here for it! I'll admit at first when I saw how much strawberry jam was drizzled around the sides of the cup, I was apprehensive as to how sweet it would be, having been burned at other spots in the past. However a couple sips proved me over-concerned, it was a little sweeter than I usually go for, but balanced with the matcha. Little chunks of natural strawberry were a nice touch. The drink was cool, grassy, slightly bitter in a good way that matcha can be, with a dry finish, like the way wine can be dry.* quenched my thirst for caffeine and helped keep me hydrated when it hit the high 80s that afternoon. Fun fact: matcha is considered "cooling" in eastern medicine's classification of foods, so great to drink when it's hot outside, though they do recommend to drink room temp or warm. The staff was busy on a weekend early evening since a steady stream of customers came in. Energy seemed to be flagging a bit, though it didn't really affect my brief interaction. Most of the seating was taken inside, and the storefront was also open to the warm temps outside, so I took my drink to go. Would come back if in the neighborhood! *Side note: I'm kinda stumped as to why some people refer to matcha as "earthy" or "like dirt"....earthy would be akin mushrooms, or quinoa, or root vegetables. Matcha tastes grassy, leafy, fragrant in a similar way to herbs and tea leaves. My friend and I were excited this matcha spot is near a bagel spot we stopped by for lunch since we wanted a matcha latte. She ordered the hojicha latte and I got the strawberry matcha latte. I enjoyed the matcha being unsweetened since the strawberry puree and chunks were so sweet already. I will say I wish there was less strawberry puree as it overpowered the matcha but still a good drink! Price point in NYC cafes kills me though read more
I went early during the week there was a few people eating in. The inside was kind of dark and someone was fixing something in the back. I got the egg sando the strawberry matcha sando and the Sakura iced matcha. I really enjoyed the matcha it was pretty smooth and just enough sweetness I would return for the drinks but not the sandwiches. The egg salad was small and didnt have much flavor it could use some salt the strawberry matcha was better it was a little bigger and the cream was good. Theres a few tables to sit at if you arrive early enough. The service wasnt the friendliest and seemed annoyed to be honest. read more

One of the best strawberry matcha I've had! I got less sweet with oat milk, and it's sooo tasty and smooth. They don't skimp on the matcha at all, putting 2 giant scoops (probably 4-5g?) into each drink. The strawberry puree is fresh and doesn't taste artificial. My friend ended up getting a second one of herself because it was so yum. I really like this place and can't wait to come again! read more
The strawberry sauce was delicious in the Strawberry Matcha Latte, but it overpowered the matcha flavor. I also tried the plain Matcha Latte, which just tasted overwhelmingly milky with little matcha presence. Out of the two I would go with the strawberry, but considering the prices for what you get, I'd say it's a skip for me. read more

Of course we couldn't get through a trip without a matcha fix~ And Isshiki came highly recommended! We came by on a Saturday morning around 10 am, thankfully no line or real wait. I can't pass up on a strawberry matcha and my husband grabbed a brown sugar matcha. The matcha itself had a good flavor and was not watered down or too grainy either. I will say that the strawberry matcha was the star here the brown sugar matcha...though good, just tasted like matcha + boba syrup without any real meshing. My husband liked it a little, but also noted that my strawberry matcha was much much better. Prices are really fair for the quality and times. Service was friendly and got drinks moving quickly. All in all, a solid matcha spot to get your green drink fix. Interior is cute with some seating if you want to sit and get some work done. read more
Nestled in Moko, which is a sushi restaurant by night, Isshiki serves as the matcha bar by day. What to expect is quick service, a simple menu to choose from, and good quality drinks! I got the Pistachio Matcha Latte (cold) with almond milk (4/5). This was good but a little short of perfect. The matcha had a pure earthy taste, just as you'd expect, and the pistachio syrup was sweet enough but a little understated. The nuttiness was masked a little by the earthy matcha taste, for which I'd suggest the choice of perhaps offering pistachio milk as the base to amp up the flavor. That being said, my partner got the Strawberry Matcha Latte with oat milk. This was a 5/5. The fruity and earthy drink, iced, made for a perfect summer bevvy. read more

I tried many different popular cafes this time but Isshiki is still my favorite matcha cafe in NYC. Granted I've only ever tried their matcha latte (no sweetener, oat milk) but their matcha isn't overpowered by my milk choice and the taste has always been consistent. Plus I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get my matcha. read more

Matcha was good. Each is made properly. Real matcha. Smell of restaurant is very eggy which made me feel icky lol. Not best to pay with cash as they may not have change. read more

Amazing matcha drinks!! The iced strawberry matcha here is really good- good amount of strawberry puree and sweetness. The iced pistachio latte is also really yummy and I love pistachio. The matcha here is a vibrant green and tastes great. The shop itself is a super cute window cafe with cute outdoor seating. There is no indoor seating for the cafe. It is connected to a restaurant so not sure if you might be able to sit there too. They have non dairy milk options such as oat, and I think almond. Overall I would come back for the matcha drinks here ! read more
Great matcha drinks but a few drawbacks in service and value. Food (5/5): Excellent quality, and the matcha strawberry was amazing. Value (4/5): On the more expensive side compared to similar places. We came here early on a weekday as we arrived too early for our dimsum reservation nearby. It was a cozy spot and we ordered a strawberry matcha latte and a black sesame matcha latte. It definitely was a little pricier for matcha but it was definitely quality matcha. I also purchased two tins of their premium matcha as a gift for friends. Nice ambience with ample seating. They do close at 3:00pm so come early if you want to try their matcha. We tried the strawberry matcha latte which was delicious. There is always a line but it does move quickly. We also got seating which was great. Noticed that there was no trash can inside the store. Most people opted to take it outside? read more
The space itself is cute and cozy, the strawberry matcha .... Eh I've had better. I'm not a fan of the chalky matcha taste and honestly that's all I tasted. The strawberry jam is good when you get it in the straw by itself, but I couldn't get over the chalkiness. It's a chill space though to meet people or read a book. read more

Isshiki serves a truly delicious cup of matcha. I can confidently say it's one of the best I've encountered so far. Even in the form of a latte, the matcha flavor was bold and didn't get watered down by the milk. read more
I got the lavender matcha latte and yuzu matcha latte. The lavendar matcha latte had a strong lavender flavor. Unfortunately, the yuzu tasted more like milk than yuzu. I personally prefer my matcha lattes to have a stronger and deeper matcha flavor. These drinks seemed to be more milky in taste than other matcha places I have tried. Lots of seating options from table seating to counter seats. It gets pretty packed on the weekends. They also have wifi so a great spot to do some work. read more
A new spot in the heart of St. Marks. The matcha here is pretty good quality & the milk/matcha ratio is done perfectly. The baristas are so sweet and friendly & take their matcha making seriously, which I love. I want to come back and try their other matcha options and even the hojicha. Notable things that can improve is the seating arrangements; overheard some customers having trouble with seating/bumping into each other in the front of the store. read more
The yuzu matcha latte was pretty good, but I think I would have liked it better if it had a stronger matcha flavor. The lemonade matcha also has an overpowering lemonade flavor and not enough matcha flavor. The interior has a bit of seating, it's a pretty good spot to sit and chat. They have a bathroom.
