I'm glad I had the opportunity to dine in this beautiful 150 year old restaurant. My review comes after its closure but it serves to honor the restaurant in hosting my visit. The Building is amazing where the walls and ceilings act as palettes for beautiful painted art. Stepping into the restaurant feel as if one is stepping through a time portal where one feels they are dining 151 years ago which is how old the building is. The ambiance is quite lively and energetic. Although the highlight is the space, the food is also very good. Their pretzels are served warm and fresh with a firm exterior and an interior that melts as it enters one's mouth. The soup is flavorful and healthy with not even a drop of oil pooling to the top. The schnitzel is as tender as it gets. The servers were knowledgeable and fast but it is always so busy that the restaurant should consider increasing staff as to improve customer service. Perfect location right in the heart of Marienplatz where the Glockenspiel is a stone's throw away. Overall, a wonderful restaurant to dine with great food and a beautifully historic setting!

Our cocktails were a lot of fun. I discovered here the Don Papa rum, which is from my home country of the Philippines, where I didn't even know they made rum. It was sweet and smooth; I wish I could remember which house cocktail I had them sub it in for. I do think the dal makhani could have done with several more hours of simmering, but most restaurants do a quick cook on this favorite lentil dish of mine. Like a lot of Munich, Madam Chutney is dog-friendly. My friend's 70-pound dog, Lola, made us a whole table of friends! I was stunned the wait staff was tolerant of it.

A small tip: this is not just a cafe or a restaurant, this is a community of raw food fans and of nice people that build up their connections and support each other, meet each other very often and organize diverse events or seminars around the Cafe, just ask about their community as well when you will enjoy your time in the Cafe! I was lucky to meet the inspiring founders of Cafe Gratitude in August at a raw food workshop and from what I know, they planned to come back soon, it's a workshop worth attending for all those interested in joining the Cafe Gratitude community. Back in August, Cafe Gratitude Munich was just in plan, now it's a very nice reality and it's one of the places where I could stay all day long, it's part of my favourite cosy homey places in Munich. I recommend it to everyone, whether you are vegetarian or you are not so much into veggies, just try a few raw food dishes and then you will realize that eating raw is much more tastier than expected when it's properly prepared like it is in Cafe Gratitude and it's giving a boost to your energy too! :) I've added already photos of the delicious healthy food that I've got there, more to come from my next visit there! :) And after you will visit Cafe Gratitude, don't forget to let us know here on Yelp "What are you grateful for?" ;))

But after multiple visits, I'm still lukewarm on the place. We've made the mistake of wandering in without a reservation, only to be given attitude (despite the fact that there were plenty of available tables). We've experienced service so slow that we had to go actively looking for the waitress (who is also the cook, owner, and sole person on staff as far as I can tell) to beg for the privilege of buying another round of drinks. In short, while on some visits I feel quite welcome, on others I feel more like a nuisance, which is not really how I want to feel in a restaurant. If you're a vegetarian who finds herself in Munich, Vegelangelo is worth a visit, but only if you are in the mood to be patient over what could end up being a very slow meal.

We waited a bit outside - maybe about 15 minutes before we were given a table. Our waitress was great, but it was very obvious that they had a lot of tables to take care of in the extremely giant beer hall. If you need anything after you order and in between getting your food and paying, you'll need to wait a while. That being said, I think we're just used to extremely fast service in NYC. I had the Pork knuckle which was a whole roasted pork knuckle with home-made dark beer sauce and potato dumpling. We also had the Crispy roast pork with home-made dark beer sauce and potato dumpling. Both were excellent and the beer was also quite good. I had their signature wheat beer and then an Oktoberfest beer (because why not) and really enjoyed it. I do think I liked their signature wheat beer better, and would've gotten another one of those over the Oktoberfest one.

We enjoyed beer and wine first and then we enjoyed several dishes that are in the pictures here. All were very good as most food in Munich at these restaurants is. Our server was very polite and she took our orders and suggested some items as well. Food came without too much delay and was very tasty. We stayed and enjoyed for at least 2 hours then back to the festivities once they cleared the bomb threat and started letting everyone back in. If you're in Munich for any reason - Schneider is a great place for some beer, wine and german food! Keep Munching!

Service is friendly and helpful. Also appreciated there were gender neutral bathrooms. The drinks were great - nice to go somewhere with a diverse non alcoholic menu. I had an NA beer and my spouse had a strawberry matcha latte - I was definitely jealous of her drink as it was beautifully presented and well prepared. Food was also very good. We went all out - got a cashew cheese starter, schnitzel, a bowl, and ice cream for dessert. The schnitzel was a standout - my spouse doesn't eat meat but really wanted to try schnitzel - I do and think this one was better seasoned and prepared than the meat ones I had. My bowl was hearty and flavorful - especially liked the peanut sauce. And we loved that we could choose three flavors for the ice cream! Would definitely go back.
