We like to try different pizza places on our road trips and Sam's was getting great reviews. We are not disappointed! The restaurant gives a quaint nostalgic feel to when we were kids. There's a little arcade, spacious seating area with open viewable cook area. We were greeted right away and welcomed to choose our own seating. There were a few families already seated but the wait staff was very tentative and we got our drink order in right away. After a few minutes with the menu and a bathroom break for the kids, we ordered. Our pizza fries came out and they were hot and beautiful cooked. The crust was crispy and fluffy, cheese melted with just the right amount of garlic salt. My son ordered some of their new wings. They came out a little after the pizza fries. Unfortunately, being a new item they're probably still working out the kinks but the middle of the wings were cold. Our pizza came out and I told the wait staff and asked if they could put them in the microwave. He said he would take them back. Our waitress came back and was apologetic and said they would make us another batch for here or they could box them up to go. We got them to go since we're working with our three year old on sitting nicely and he was not having it. We got our bill and they were so kind, they took the wings off our bill which they did not have to do but it was very much appreciated. We've been to restaurants where constructive criticism was not received well but we're humbled that there is still an established that knows how to treat their patrons right. Thanks you for providing us with a warm welcome, delicious food and great service.

I was definitely cheering for the pack once I found this out. They also had very cheap $5 pitchers. We never ended up bowling though... the bar was too much fun with the game on. The crowd was a mixed bunch...from camo wearing outdoorsmen to rich Chicago suburbanites. I had the pulled pork with the fresh cut fries. The pulled pork was dry but it did have good flavor. I like the fact they give you the BBQ sauce on the side and you have the option of spicy or regular. I opted for the spicy and its not really spicy but did have a good flavor. I like to dip on the side and dont like it drenched on top. If the pulled pork wasnt so dry I would not have even put the sauce on. It came on pretty big size bun but would have been nice if it was toasted or not so dry. I would say there was a nice quantity of meat on the bun and they didnt skimp on that. The fresh cut fries were good and not limp like some places do. They did not salt them so you had to yourself. My friend had the soup and salad bar which was part of their lunch special so not sure if they have it up all the time or just during lunch and that was $5.99. My mom had the chicken quesadilla and she said the flavor of the chicken was very bland and not very much meat on it. It did however look good. Came with lettuce, tomato on top and sour cream. She said if she returned there she would not order that again. The place was clean and the service was fine. Nothing above average by any means. I would go back if I was in the area as they seemed to have a nice variety on the menu from wraps, burgers, pizzas, apps and several diffrent kinds of sandwhiches.

We'll head back again for fish fry but will definitely avoid the back dining area. I'm glad they reached out.] My wife and I were here a little over two months ago. We sat in the main bar area and got relatively quick service and the food was good. Tonight we opted to sit in the back dining area - huge mistake. We sat for over 30 minutes before anyone even came to check on us. Two women took our drink order (one on a paper pad and one on an iPad) and about ten minutes later they came back with my Coke and told my wife they couldn't make a Moscow Mule. Really? At this point, a Moscow Mule is as ubiquitous as an Old Fashioned. After another twenty minutes they brought out our cheese curds. To their credit, they were quite good and cooked a a creamy consistency. And then we waited...AGAIN. It is now 7:08 and we have been here since about 5:30 and our food is nowhere in sight. Nobody has returned to get us additional drinks, either. Our food finally arrived at 7:13, and thankfully it arrived hot. My wife had the two piece fried haddock, and I had the five piece perch. While the food was hot and tasty, the breading was actually much crispier than last time, and that wasn't really a good thing. My perch was actually crunchy, but after waiting that long, there was no way I was sending it back -- we might not have finished dinner until bar time. We will revisit this review after we head back to give them another their chance when thEir staff gets finished training. They are soo close to home, that we'd like to keep them as an option.
