It's narrow, or perhaps seems that way because of the shelves of books, but it extends into a back room. It's easy to lose track of time exploring. The aisles are decent, I suppose, but might be a problem when perusing the stacks if other people need to get by. There are two cats that roam freely, meowing loudly when they want attention, but do not otherwise bother anyone, unless they sense a kindred spirit. They kind of give this place a home-like atmosphere. I only had a few moments and that didn't give me quite enough time to figure out the layout, but things appear to be sorted by category and then by author, like most bookstores, but with some cross-over sections. The general fiction is in front. There's a nice mix of books within each category, and not many duplicate titles. Thimbleberry Books is a winner.

The real gem of this place is the basement which is home to vintage books at killer prices. There are books wall to wall on everything you can imagine- art & culture and history and ancient medicine. The staff was friendly and let us browse the aisles to our hearts content. There is a bathroom inside but you need to ask for a key to use it. A "bonus" of this place is it is located to a handy map of the downtown area and neat photo ops like the red London Telephone booth at the end of the block. The time I generally describe as my misspent youth…read more Growing up in western Washington state meant a lot to many people, and everyone has their own backstory. Looking back I can't imagine wanting to ever leave. Actually I never did. But I leave I did, and I mourned it for the first decade. Then during the middle of the second decade I ceased to miss aspects and eventually came 'round to mourning it again, but for entirely unexpected reasons. But yesterday I reached into my 500Gb hard drive and scooped out a selection of CDs to cram inside my iPod Classic to listen to on a drive to a distant city called Plover (I like to childishly call it P Lover) for what was to be a single trip for work. It turned into two days, which wasn't a bad thing. During the drive I broke out Stoner Witch, The Melvins 90s major label disc. Listening to that in my very awesome new Pioneer car stereo was way better than my nice but not sturdy home speakers. So upon todays end of workday I wanted to find a used Cd store or a thrift store that might have something cool. Instead I found an awe inspiring little store that's chock full of EVERYTHING, that is if everything is rock music related. I didn't bother to look at the possibility they might also sell schlocky country music by crappy rock musicians that decided to go the so wrong right wing GOP path to Ooops. I wandered into the wrong thought. I found a place that is so awesome I will make this area a destination instead of only a place to stop for a whiz or perhaps because work brought me. GO! Don't hesitate. Radio Kaos Records is f'n the place!

There's not a lot to do in the…read moreairport, given its handful of gates, so if you ever end up with a flight delay, you can get your magazines and snacks here, as well as a gift for a young person in your life -- there are plenty of little toys, children's books, and other options available. Most recently, I got the current issues of Men's Health and GQ for the flight to MSP and Newark, as well as the newest Mack Bolan paperback. Vacation reading in transit, for sure!
