My favorite part of Ben Franklin stores is the craft supplies and fabrics. They have a full range of both so you don't have to leave town to fight traffic and crowds at bigger stores. Although the craft department is really what draws me in, these stores also have sundry other items including the kitschy and the necessary. And the prices are sometimes much better than what you pay at the big department stores. Ben Franklin is a great little store with reasonable prices and the classic Midwest community friendly staff.

Nothing was outrageously priced as sometimes tends to be the case in similar stores. In fact, the day I was there was a half-off special. I picked up four really cute casual shirts for around ten bucks. The store is arranged in a fairly straightforward manner, from children's to adult's clothes as you walk in. Over the racks along the walls are the houseware-type items. There's a small side room in the back for the bedding and curtains. The front of the store has things arranged by size and then color within the size. Not many of the places of this kind will do that type of arrangement, but it makes it a lot easier to find something if you need it in a specific color range.
