We live in Wisconsin Rapids, where there's no local bookstore, so it's always a treat to visit Marshfield and stop at Thimbleberry Books. The place is huge, and they have an amazing selection. I always leave with at least 2 or 3 books. All the books are used but in excellent condition, which means prices are lower than at many other stores. The employees are both friendly and helpful, and -- most importantly -- they have friendly bookstore cats. Need I say more? read more

Love this bookstore. It's one with nooks and crannies of books throughout. It's in an old building, the character of which lends itself perfectly to a used bookstore. It's narrow, or perhaps seems that way because of the shelves of books, but it extends into a back room. It's easy to lose track of time exploring. The aisles are decent, I suppose, but might be a problem when perusing the stacks if other people need to get by. There are two cats that roam freely, meowing loudly when they want attention, but do not otherwise bother anyone, unless they sense a kindred spirit. They kind of give this place a home-like atmosphere. I only had a few moments and that didn't give me quite enough time to figure out the layout, but things appear to be sorted by category and then by author, like most bookstores, but with some cross-over sections. The general fiction is in front. There's a nice mix of books within each category, and not many duplicate titles. Thimbleberry Books is a winner. read more

I go to Marshfield. WI every summer for a knitting conference. I go a day early so I have plenty of time to spend in this bookshop. Not only is it charming, but their selection is endless. I'm an English murder mystery fan and Thimbleberry carries writers that I can never find anywhere else. They also have a great selection of antique books and I always find something for a Christmas present for my grandson with a PHD in 18th century literature. read more

Thimbleberry Books is a delightful used book store. Upon walking in the door you are greeted by two friendly cats that mosey around. The book selection is vast and just when you think that you have reached the end, there is yet another room to explore. The employees are friendly and helpful, especially the guy that works during the week. He is very knowledgeable about different genres of literature and is more than willing to order books for you if you can't find them on the shelf. There are plenty of cozy little nooks between the stacks to sit and read for a bit. I had a very pleasant shopping experience. read more
