Their last remaining anchor (following Younker's bankruptcy) is Kohl's, though there are still plenty of other chain and local businesses packed inside. It was the third weekend in July and the blueberries were very good, but the raspberries were definitely picked over. Overall, the bushes were not as well kept as some other berry picking places we've been to - I ended up with some pretty nasty scratches on my legs from overgrown raspberry bushes.

They carry everything you might need or didn't know you needed: can and wine openers, candles, tableware, place-mats, teapots, decorative napkins, dish towels, and other unusual items. Even if you're not looking for anything, this is a great store to get inspired or to find something unique for a party. For the most part, the prices are in line with other stores of this type: sometimes pricey, sometimes not. Maybe because it was summer, but everything was bright and festive and made me feel like I should have been at the beach, or headed to the beach. It was great fun exploring.

The area is very scenic, with well-marked trails that wind through the woods, alongside a small stream, and throughout the property. Whether you're looking for a short walk or a longer hike, there are plenty of options. The interpretive signs are well done and provide interesting information about the history of Neillsville and its early settlers. Did you know the area was originally settled by Mormon loggers? That was something new to us. If you're passing through, it's well worth the stop. We were certainly glad we did.

The place is huge, and they have an amazing selection. I always leave with at least 2 or 3 books. It's narrow, or perhaps seems that way because of the shelves of books, but it extends into a back room. It's easy to lose track of time exploring. The aisles are decent, I suppose, but might be a problem when perusing the stacks if other people need to get by. There are two cats that roam freely, meowing loudly when they want attention, but do not otherwise bother anyone, unless they sense a kindred spirit. They kind of give this place a home-like atmosphere. I only had a few moments and that didn't give me quite enough time to figure out the layout, but things appear to be sorted by category and then by author, like most bookstores, but with some cross-over sections. The general fiction is in front. There's a nice mix of books within each category, and not many duplicate titles. Thimbleberry Books is a winner.
