Cheese Pizza with pepperoni and green pepper - A round cheese pizza with melted cheese, pepperoni slices, and green peppers is placed on a metal tray with a paper liner. The pizza has a golden-brown crust and is cut into slices. In the background, there is a basket of breadsticks with marinara sauce on a wooden table.

Not very impressed. There is hardly anything to pick from on the menu. The food that I did get was rather bland and over salted. The pizza was very greasy and the "garlic bread" is just Texas toast and marinara sauce. Not very much effort put into the quality of food here. Not a tasty meal and service was lacking. I was seated for a good while before my server came by. Definitely won't be stopping by here again.

I give it 5 stars for the pizza alone. I love cracker style crust pizza LOVE IT. I will admit I went in on Saturday night so this place was a lot like a chuck cheese at the time. However tuning that out focusing on the experience my partner and I had I would easily say this is the best pizza in the area. A great place for travelers to experience what the locals like

One of my top pizza places ever! Amazing pizza and fun atmosphere. So great that we ate it 2 times in one day and would have had it the next day as well if we could. Cost to worth it ratio: 5 stars (same price as most pizzas, but SO much better!) Pics: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ivDtB-5JEb197gls30LDNQ Highlights: - Pizza: I have to start with this since it's simply amazing! So much so, I think I need to comment on each part that makes up this winning pie: -- Cheese: best cheese combo ever. Not sure if it's cause it's in the dairy state or what, but the cheese really stands out as being exceptional. Not sure what's all in there but I definitely tasted the sharpness of cheddar and the mellowness of a white cheese. Whatever it was it worked in a BIG way. And the amount was just right--enough cheese not to feel jipped, but not too much so it's oozy overkill. -- Crust: super thin and pastry-like. A small layer of protection from the cheese so it doesn't get all over your hands and gives it just enough crunch to go along with the cheesy delight. -- Square pieces: I just think this is the cutest thing--bite sized pieces. Kinda like mini candy bars so you don't feel as bad eating it. ;-) Super star points for having a piece of sausage in the middle of every piece. Only con to this format is that it's a bit harder to eat the inside pieces, as they are floppier than the crusty ones. You can however, make a cute little pizza sandwich by putting together 2 pieces with the insides facing in. -- Sam's special: I knew it was meant to be when I saw their special is their my favorite pizza topping combination: sausage, onion, and green pepper. 8-) For those non-veggie lovers like the hub, they are hidden so all you see is the sausage on top. Good-sized dollop of sausage too. - Garlic bread: hot and soft with a layer of cheese if you order it like that - Coca-Cola memorabilia: it's just like my house or a mini version of the Coke museum in Atlanta with the collection of bottles, rugs, cars, plates, etc. This sealed the deal for a match made in heaven for me since I'm big into Coca-Cola collectibles. - Game room: pinball, artic thunder (love this snowmobile game), a little carousel, and all topped off with a with Packer helmet ride. - Open oven area: always like to see em make the pizza. - Ice cream bar: cute little soda-shoppy area with stools where you can get shakes and such. - Friendly staff: our waitress checked in a lot and was very attentive, - Hours: open Saturday for lunch unlike the other location which isn't open until dinner. This one is also opened til 1am which is fantastic for late night eats. Helpful hint: when out, call ahead, go pick up the pizza right before 1am, go back out for more drinks, and enjoy it after your done for the night. ;-) And yes, we did that! - No boxes: leftovers and orders come in a bag vs. the traditional box which I'm sure saves paper. Lowlights (my flip side to highlights): - None in Cali--you have to go to Wisconsin for this treat! I hear in other parts of Wisconsin you can find Sammy's that is rumored to be a family member with a similar recipe. - Not open for lunch Sunday: kaboshed our smooshing in 3 Sam's pizzas in 24 hour plan while we were in town I will always make a stop when I'm around--I heart Sam's pizza!

A Wausau tradition and staple! Great thin crust pizza! They cut it into little squares. There's a sausage on every piece.

Deliciously thin crust without being the crunchy papery kind of thin.

TLDR: Between TikTok and Instagram, I was catfished. The best parts were picked and posted to social media. What was missing on social media was the giant construction zone, holes in the walls of the pool area, huge slide pieces littering the property, dusty/outdated decor, poorly placed sections of old couches disguised as a seating area in the hall, and hotel staff meetings occurring in the lobby during operating hours and doing my own housekeeping. This place has a great gym. I was very impressed my first day. The kids were so excited to be there. The room was as expected, check in was easy, the staff was great. The grills outside cooked an amazing steak. The kids loved the pool. That's where the good ends. I had to ask for towels every day of our visit, sometimes multiple times. Because as a family of 5, they expected us to use one towel the entire 5 days and would only give me 2-3 towels every time I asked. I resorted to washing towels myself. They have a giant towel room, not sure where those towels ended up. They don't do any type of room refresh. We had a suite and took out our own trash. Didn't have enough trash bags, ran out of toilet paper twice. Not as secure as you would think. The back courtyard has an external entrance where anyone can enter. The keypads to the doors are broken and people have to prop open the locked door to get in. Anyone can come and go. Speaking of the courtyard, it had one dining style table to seat six. It's summer and there was one table?!? Which was covered in pollen and dirt. Signage around the hotel was terrible. They have brown signs that have words scrapped off and don't give accurate directions and paper signs that are far from elevators and staircases. No map of the hotel anywhere. The gym area went unkept. One day I picked up a disposable water bottle and shirt, another a used towel was left, another the reusable cleaning towels were out, and the black body towels eventually got emptied. It was not maintained each day. Although your staff were polite, it was clear there wasn't enough. On Sunday, your front desk person was also the bartender. Disappearing to manage both. The bar didn't have a drink menu and didn't have any signature drinks that were advertised in their elevator or Instagram. We visited the bar just once. The old waterpark area is a construction zone and has been that way for over a year. The outside is littered with the skeletal remains of said waterpark. I never saw any work being done to that area while I was there. The hotel staff meetings in the lobby were the icing on the cake. Why in the lobby? To watch your front desk people? Watch guests come and go? It certainly wasn't to interact with your paying customers. When I asked the front desk for an email to provide feedback, the lady that held several meetings, glared over to me and practically whispered a partial email address to her employee. She never asked for my feedback or asked how my stay was. No one did. I guarantee that email address was a random unattended box she had no intention of reviewing. Since they don't want my review, the internet can be warned.
