I'd had a ~DAY~ and found myself with an extra hour in the evening so I decided to get my rage room on because I'd been wanting to try this place out forever. I saw on their website that they had a promotion for 50% off on Tuesdays. Tried calling to confirm the price and to make sure I could walk in without booking first but got the voicemail so decided to take a chance and take the drive. The center is located inside of the Westvale Plaza. When I approached, there was a note on the door that they'd be back in 10 minutes, however the staff pulled up about a minute later so all good. Even if waiting was necessary, it wouldn't have been the biggest deal. They seem pretty slow on the weekdays and they operate more on a book-ahead model, so totally understandable. Good to know that it's probably a better bet to book online first! The staff was polite and helpful. I asked about the 50% but she said that was only if you booked ahead. I was willing to pay full price anyway. (Spoiler alert- when I got home and looked at my bank statement they charged me half price anyway, score! What a sweet surprise.) Setup was super efficient. I filled out a waiver and then headed into a getting ready area to watch a quick safety video and gear up. The system was really smooth and streamlined. While I was waiting for the staff to get my room ready, I started talking to another team member, who actually turned out to be one of the owners. She was super friendly and you can tell that she really cares about her business. She shared with me that she decided to start a rage room after facing a difficult time in her life and finding the practice therapeutic. She also mentioned that Smash already existed in Rochester and she decided to team up with them and open a Syracuse location instead of competing, which is pretty cool. Now, onto the actual experience. I went solo and got a starter box, which came with a bunch of dishes and bottles, a phone, and a printer. The room had a file cabinet for my personal items and a bluetooth speaker to play music. I blasted some Linkin Park, which worked perfectly for smashing music. Pro tip- come with an angry playlist ready so that you don't have to listen to YouTube ads. The smashing itself was heavenly. The starter box comes with 20 minutes. I thought that might be too much time since I was alone, but it was actually perfect. The plates and bottles broke instantly, but the electronics took a beating. I did feel a little strange and guilty causing so much wanton destruction, but it was also super satisfying to break a bunch of stuff without worrying about the consequences. There was a variety of weapons to use, including various size bats, crowbars, pipes, and a sledgehammer. Did I try all of them? Yes, I tried all of them. Did I have a favorite? Maybe. Super fun to test out how different materials broke with different weapons. I felt like a hooligan and loved every minute of it. This place would be fun to come with other people, but it was also a hoot to come alone. Such a unique way to blow off steam and decompress from work stress after a super tense day. Be aware though, this is a WORKOUT. I was sweating and panting by the end, and wish I'd brought some water with me. I was also glad for the disposable gloves under my work gloves because my hands were dripping by the end. Felt a little shaky driving home, so maybe not a bad idea to go with a DD- destruction driver! :D Honestly, this was so much fun and put me in a good mood for the rest of the evening. What a great way to take out my tension. Highly recommend giving them a try. This was for sure a "gotta try it once" experience, but I would for sure come back. Nice staff, good value for the money. Also, seriously, when else are you going to be able to womp on a printer with a crowbar without getting alarmed looks? C'mon, live a little.

Came here with my friends and we had so much fun! The paint room was so cool. I liked that we got to take home our canvas after.

The food was delicious, and so much to choose from! We had the Arancini balls to start, and they were delicious. We both tried the soups, and I adored the micro grilled cheese that topped the tomato bisque - SUCH a cute garnish! We recommend you get your steak "Jimmy style" because WOW, there is soooo much flavor! The shrimp scampi was also excellent. The large portions gave us some good leftovers. We had to finish with cannolis to-go, and we were so happy we did. Our server was very attentive, even as the place was filling up on a holiday evening! We can't wait to go back and try more of their menu.

Our apps of meatballs and calamari were good but when we got our red wine, it was freezing. Then we were waiting for at least a half an hour for our food. My sister was starting to worry about getting to her graduation despite us booking 2 hours ahead of her ceremony. When we received our food, all meals came except mine which was about 10 mins after everyone else. The best meals were the Chicken Riggies & Chicken Milanese. The Chicken Piccata was very heavy of Dijon and the Chicken Marsala tasted like Chicken Teriyaki; needless to say, neither dish tasted like its traditional description. Lastly, the Clam Provencal was void of flavor. Half of our party left as soon as I got my food and we paid the check so we weren't late to the ceremony, but then the rest of our party was asked to leave for another group. Sadly, it was different than what we were hoping for.

Very interesting place. Evidently extensively remodeled in the past few decades after glory years…read moreat the height of the Erie Canal and the Industrial Revolution in upstate New York. Hotel decor was pretty spectacular, until you got up close and realized that much of the intricate scrollwork was not wood, but resin replacements molded on the few remaining wooden pieces left from the late 19th century. We had a sleeping room directly across the street from a huge, brilliantly illuminated museum sign that flashed all night long. The blackout curtains weren't. We tried one of the restaurants on the ground floor of the hotel, which was adequate but expensive. From that point on, we ate elsewhere, including at the fabulous restaurant and small business incubator across the street, and the wonderful Chinese restaurant about two miles away that also happened to serve dim sum. We were shipped two large packages while there, and the front desk staff was incredibly helpful in locating and providing those packages to us. Later, it came time for me to send out some parcels from those packages for folks who were no-shows at our conference, and once again, the front desk staff were incredibly helpful in providing some packing materials and boxes from their Receiving department for my use. As part of a larger conference, our small group had the use of one of the ground floor meeting rooms for an hour early on a Saturday morning. The hotel staff was very helpful in allowing us in an hour or so before our meeting was to begin to permit us to set up for our session.

The staff here was very helpful, accommodating, and easy to work with when booking the conference room. They were equally helpful when I arrived and needed access. The room had a TV in it as well as a large table and it was comfortable for the all day meeting we had. Regarding my staff, checking in was great. The folks at the front desk were friendly and helpful. They have an M Club here, which I visited a couple of times. I wanted bottled water, which they don't have in the M Club, rather you need to get it from the front desk. They use water refilling stations in the M Club, which I hate when staying in a hotel, I'd rather have the bottled water in the fridge in my room, so I'm glad they were able to accommodate me on this. The guy working the M Club both times I visited (in the evenings) was great, friendly too! The hotel itself is BEAUTIFUL! Honestly, I stay in hotels weekly and I'm pretty much done with the typical design of the average Marriott and this one breaks that mold! It's historic, beautifully renovated, perfectly operational, and centrally located. My room was very nice! They upgraded me to a suite and when they told me this during check in, I wasn't too impressed, as I hear that I'm "upgraded" all the time, but when I get to the room, they look typical. This room was HUGE! It had a living room, two king size bedrooms, and two full baths in it. The living room had a nice desk and plenty of seating for a family. There were also 3 TVs in this room. Bathrooms in the rooms were beautifully renovated to have a period look and they worked nicely. Housekeeping even did a nice job keeping everything polished in this room. Overall, I really enjoyed this stay. I'd most definitely return here in the future!
