Cool and casual beach vibe here, but different from a bunch of the other " beach places" ( non Islands restaurants)--and this one has always been my preferred Islands location. We ordered a tropical flight and all four drinks were delicious. The chips and salsa were excellent, and I generally avoid eating chips-- but these were so good with generous portions of guacamole ( chunky and fresh) and one of the best salsas I have had too! Hubby and I both ordered the chicken tortilla soup, my favorite here- fantastic... And finally the incredible cheddar fries- so so good. 2nd time here this month, I have to say this experience was better then the last! 360 degree change. Walked in and was immediately seated. Once we sat down, Our server comes over to attend to us We ordered everything all at once since we were time constraint to go to another destination. From the happy hour menu ordered me some sliders, Chardonnay ice tea and a main entree of Asian bowl. Received our food quickly! Everything tasted very good. No complaints on the food. Islands has always been one of those "meh" places to go. It's kid friendly so my kids always enjoyed watching the screens with extreme sports. I'm here today because I took my neurodivergent friend/neighbor to meet with his social skills group. It's great that they held space for adults with special needs. I was greeted with a smile by Kalli at the hostess booth and it felt genuine. I sat at the bar and both bartenders (Brett & Hunter) were attentive and friendly. Not just with me but to everyone. The energy here is high and I felt like complimenting everyone I came in contact with. Oh! I ordered off the happy hour menu and got the chips & salsa with the spicy chicken quesadilla AND a margarita (or 2). All are really good. The portions are larger than typical happy hour portions. It's been quite some time since visiting an Island Restaurant. I use to go frequently during my college days. Needless to say, the menu has changed. Gone are the days of endless fries with your burger. I am definitely a fan of the new additions to the menu. Upon walking in, there was a sign for new bowls currently $10. I decided to order the Hawaiian one and it was delicious plus a great deal. Service was awesome. We got there in the middle of happy hour and it started getting really busy. Absolutely packed when we rolled out around 7pm on a Friday. Islands is still a popular place! I miss unlimited fries, but refill is $1.89. Not bad. read more

My Hawaiian Cheeseburger was big, juicy, and delicious. It was served with fresh grilled pineapple, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, Onion, mayo, and Teriyaki sauce. Wish there was more sauce to make the flavors blend throughout the burger. I want to add those fried onions to other burgers too. Malibu burger was also good with the smoked hickory bacon. Fries are plenty. I wish we ordered one burger and maybe a salad to share. Kids had some fries after a quick lunch at home and we still didn't finish our burgers as the portions were generous! I think the fries are good. Feels fresh but feel better than in-N-out burger (I now know I should always ask for well done there). Mocha cookie ice cream cake was fun! It is always common with ice cream cake was it is a bit hard to eat and there is no way to take down leftovers home but it was good! Loved the passionfruit fresh tea. Have always been a fan of islands and this time did not disappoint! They have amazing happy hour deals but I didn't get that this time. I tried their blue cheese burger and it surprised me. It's not too heavy on the blue cheese and just enough funk to keep it interesting. I love how they beer flights to try their amazing selection. Their fries have amazing seasoning on them and just keep you munching. Service is always great they may be busy but they make sure you are taken care of. Ambiance is beautiful they have surfer decorations and surf videos playing in the tvs at all time. Great spot for a quick lunch! read more

We decided to drive 15 minutes to this location and we're glad we did. The tortilla soup was outstanding, especially since you can order the never ending bowl! We also had a salad and tiki tenders. ( 3.5 Stars ) OK time I had here at Islands. Upon entering, we were greeted with friendly staff who helped us find a seat extremely quick, which was a good first impression of the restaurant. Although the first interaction was good, when we sat down, our table was a little dirty, with specs of something that looked like dust all over the table and menus. It was a little nasty but we brushed it off with napkins, so it was not much of a hassle. Our waitress was very nice and attentive throughout the duration of our time here at Islands. She was extremely helpful the entire time, bringing more dressing when requested and drink refills unrequested. For my food, I ordered the China Coast salad. At first taste and glance, it was very bland and plain. It had no taste. The first cup of dressing that was provided with the meal gave it a little bit of flavor, but not much; You really need a second cup of dressing for it to get flavor. With the dressing on it, it was alright. I'm a big fan of China and Asian salads but this salad did not seem like everything worked together. The individual toppings did not work well with each other and tasted strange, but it tasted okay after the dressing was added. Inside the restaurant is nice, lots of tables and TVs for people to watch. The only downside I had with the inside was the cleanliness of our table. read more

We were a party of 6 and a large booth lent room for all of us. Wait staff brought beverages, menus and stated the specials. After placing our orders, from kitchen to table was a very reasonable time of 5 to 10 minutes. Food was served in large ceramic baskets lined with food service paper. The paper in the baskets gave it an old fashioned kind of vibe. The basket of fries was hot, crispy and perfectly seasoned. I ordered the Hula Burger that was topped with two generous pineapple rings and teriyaki sauce that made the burger pop! A pal ordered a Cobb Salad with bacon bits on the side and Balsamic vinegar dressing, hold the Blue Cheese please. Another guest ordered the grilled cheese, toasted and real cheddar cheese! It came with a side of fries. Ample room for customers but not great for larger parties. I only noticed booths that can handle 6 guests comfortably. Large screen TV's to catch the game! There is a full service bar that carries a selection of Domestic and Imported beers both in bottles and on tap. There was also an array of spirits including wine and mixed drinks. This location is in the Manhattan Beach Mall on the outside of the mall with access to the mall through a side entrance. Good for walking off all those delicious calories! I used to come here all the time with my mommy friends and our young kiddos many years ago. Now that our kids are older and it's harder to get together, we haven't been able to come to Islands. I remember how much I loved their chicken tortilla soup so my teenage daughter and I came during her winter break to check it out for old times sake. We were seated right away and at noon, the restaurant was fairly empty. We initially wanted to order a tortilla soup and a burger but ended up adding truffle fries and spinach artichoke dip. They did not disappoint! We took a lot of our food home because the portions are small here. Although I remember there being more chicken in the tortilla soup, it was still delicious! My daughter loved her Malibu burger and truffle fries. I think we inspired the man next to us to get the spinach and artichoke dip. We'll be coming back more frequently! Felt like it was eaten by someone before it was served to the table . The salsa tasted really bland. My friend liked her Hawaiian burger. It came with the fries. Overall a good portion compared to my carne asada burrito. I was expecting more chunk of the meat instead of this semi- grounded looking. I tasted more bean flavor than the meat. Otherwise it was ok. This location is easy to get in and out of, large parking lot and plenty of room inside. They have a dining area as well as a full bar. You can sit at the bar and grab a drink with friends while enjoying your meal. The decor inside makes you feel a kettle like your on vacation with the island decor, surf board and laid back vibes. Islands are know for their Burgers, which are great, I really like the Kilauea burger. But on this visit I got the chips and salsa, always a great choice when visiting, as well as the 3 Kalua Pork tacos and a side salad with blue cheese, So good!!! My family and I LOVE this Islands! Not only is the food amazing, the staff is also! We take our kiddos once a week to eat lunch/dinner. We have a favorite waitress, RACHEL! Rachel goes above and beyond to ensure that we are taken care of! She is always smiling and so eager to please all her customers! We also would like to mention that the manager, Tanya is always so pleasant. We see her walking by tables talking to the Customers. She makes a point to say hi, and to asks us how everything was, if there is anything she could do for us or get for us. This Islands feels like we are eating at "Home" the hospitality is top notch. Islands is pretty pricey, so be prepared to spend some money. But their food portions are big, and I love their French fries as well. Nice waiters that too care of us here. Dined back in 9-30-23 After the last visit with having the not so good fish bowl, Theresa which I am assuming is the corporate person in charge has given the feedback to the main manager from the Redondo Beach restaurant to make sure the quality remains as important for their customers to enjoy their meal. Therefore, Theresa gave me a $25 gift card to give them another try. To be clear, I was not going to reorder the fish bowl again as the burgers seemed most appropriate for their kind of restaurant. I asked Theresa, which meal is the best, and she recommended, the "Kilauea, the patty is jalapeno and pepper crusted and has a spicy aioli." it's funny because I did not read her email and ordered the same burger she recommended. I too highly recommend it, because if you're a meat eater and love sauces, this is by far a really awesome burger I appreciate the time the restaurant accommodated and giving the customer the opportunity to enjoy a meal on them due to the not so good and plus paying ridiculous prices this year! I really wish other restaurants learn from this experience as anyone who can cook do not need to eat in a restaurant. Don't eat at this location! I've been a regular customer here on and off for years and their service and quality is always inconsistent. Every time I order takeout they get something wrong and today was one of those days and probably the last time I'll order from this location ! I ordered fish tacos and I received my order with only old cabbage and a hard cold tortilla like it was old. My fries also came hard and cold, I will not be eating here again because their quality of service is inadequate.
