Just drive up and park nearby. Pour your sorted cans (and bottles) into a plastic bin. A worker will pour your bin into another container and weigh your items. (Bulky item pickup) This is actually a dual review of Refrigerant Recycling, Inc., and Hawaiian Electric Co. For those of you who have an older, energy guzzling working refrigerator, freezer, or window air conditioner, you have till June 22, 2012 or while funding lasts to call and turn it in for $25.00 credit from Hawaiian Electric during their "BOUNTY PROGRAM". Call them at 808-537-5577 to apply for the credit. They will have Refrigerant Recycling, Inc. pickup your item. The company will call you to schedule the pickup. They will give you an application form to fill in to send into Hawaii Energy for your credit. You will need the brand, model #, and the serial #. The refrigerator and freezer should be cleaned of any food. Refrigerant Recycling, Inc. called two (2) days later, and I was told to leave the item out between 8 AM.- 9 AM. They arrived a little after 9 AM. I could see why they were a little late, they already had about 6 refrigerators or freezers already loaded. The pickup crew consisted of Jessica and Edward. They were very pleasant and helpful. I couldn't find the information I needed to fill the application. Of course, they have been doing this for some time, and knew exactly where to look. It seems that my refrigerator was soooo old that the label with the information was eaten away. Jessica said that I should call Hawaiian Electric and explain the situation to them before I mailed in the application. I wondered why the company would pickup old appliances FOR FREE and asked Jessica. She said that they "recycle the gas inside". I tried calling the company at 808-682-1555 to find out for others, what they would charge, or if there was a charge for picking up other gas containing appliances, but was a little too late as their hours are 7 AM. - to 3:30 PM. I'm sorry I wasn't able to get more information for you all, that have old appliances. They have a domestic item pickup which include: Refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner, heat pump, water fountain, dehumidifier, other refrigerated items, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, stove, laundry center and hot water heater. The Commercial item pickup include: Refrigerator, freezer,air conditioner (pkg), condensing unit, air handler, ice machine, soda machine, refer deck, other refrigerated items , refrigerant compressors, propane tank, and disposable cylinder. The bottom of their invoice states: Refrigerant Sales-Reclamation-Recovery- and Disposal.

This Kapolei location is in the heart of Kapolei Shopping Center right beside Safeway along side the GreenDrop container it is in a nice spot of convenience for us all in many ways as I had errands this was the perfect spot to do a quick drop off and though there was just one guy doing it all it was fast and easy. Both the ground crew and office crew explained the various types of metal found in common everyday items, and how to identify quickly. The main give away is how they tarnish. Great way to cut out some over head as a contractor or a "dump run guy" for hire. They pay the fair market rate you find on google very closely. I went right after lunch or so and was the only guy there, they handle commercial loads as well so i imagine those guys come in the morning.

I have a rare model of sport compact and needed a part that the manufacturer (Honda Motors) in their infinite stupidity, has not manufactured for 9 years = Honda stopped producing/offering this unique body exterior component when their sport compact vehicle model was only 10 years old = #SMH. 10 months ago I called every automobile used parts yard on O'ahu and none of them had a vehicle of my year and model Honda. Only one used parts yard offered to "let me know if my year and model vehicle came in with the part undamaged" = it was Jason at O'ahu Used Auto Parts! Jason took my name and tel. number, I waited and called on the 1st work day of every month to remind him that I still needed the "impossible to find" part undamaged - and the incredible thing is that; because my model vehicle is "so rare" that he remembered who I was when I called him! A miracle happened about 2 weeks ago when someone sold their car; like mine but a different color, to Jason there at the yard with the "factory part" in perfect condition! The covanta Honolulu resource recovery Venture is more commonly known as H power. It is a Oahu's…read moretrash-to-energy facility where 100% of all the islands trash goes to be burnt for electrical energy. The plant supplies just under 10% of the islands need for electricity but more importantly reduces the volume of trash by approximately 90%. I was fortunate enough to join a tour put on by opala.org to see where our Island's trash goes. It all goes here! Huge trash trucks line up all day long and the facility burns trash 24 hours a day to supplement the Island's electrical needs. The most interesting part was the huge crane that lifts loads of trash into the burner. If you ever get the chance to go check this place out, definitely go. It's very educational and environmentally friendly. It's some of the most expensive electricity but it also reduces the amount of trash that goes to our landfill.

At first I didn't really took to the recycling system as the idea to wash and sort felt like it wasn't something that would be an ideal way to help with recycling but it's not the volume but every effort does make a difference. Though I don't do much drinking as it seems but it all adds up as one bottle water from lunch or a bottle water and even some drinks from work gets accumulated slowly gaining volume is where I feel the great feeling of turning them in and not for the HI5 but just knowing that it does help. I do love this Ewa location that's right between Ewa Shopping Center and Ewa Beach Elementary School is a huge container and a few dedicated parking stalls to easily turn in your items is so quick and easy. The staff here are efficient and helpful with it all it just took less than a minute and keeping the eco flow feels great. Thank you!

Maybe it's my fault go there take chances if they can take my bottles..they close 5pm..and be there…read more20 mins before 5..I carried my bag of bottles there and the guys said sorry we don't have any money..wow really..then why they still open then.. I just drop my other bags of bottles and cans which gonna coz like maybe 10 bucks so I said to the guys .. u can have it then.. I don't wanna bring it home coz iwanna get rid of it..we'll learning lesson don't come late as 20 mins before before close ..but definitely not going there again..
