Never coming back here... I'm fully aware of how they figure out the process and counted each item that I had and is nowhere close to what it should be. First of all upon arrival there's no signage at all with how you're supposed to unload especially if it's your first time which it was for me as I had some from friends and a few myself that it was time to drop them off. You do need to rely on your GPS for location as it's in a back industrial area. You need to drive in and turn around to parallel park right beside the house and when I opened my trunk they lunged in to grab the bags which I didn't expect and unloaded my items and thew away my clean trash bag and never asked me if I wanted it back. To figure out the amount they weighed the cans and counted the bottles and when you're done you go to the cashier where you sign what you've donated and pick up your cash. I was in the area and thought that this would be great but not for me personally as I know I had so much more cans than what the scale was set for and after the time it took to collect it all I can see why many are discourage to do so but is really great to recycle which made me feel better so I guess it's not about the amount or cost but knowing that they've been processed. read more

Waipahu Recycling Center This place is a complete scam. I brought in more than 22 bags of cans and bottles and somehow ended up with only $37. They never show what they're counting or how they come up with their numbers. Everything happens behind the counter where you can't see anything. Whatever total they say, that's what you get, no proof, no breakdown, nothing. They post nice signs with prices, but that's all lies. The whole crew seems to be in on it, working together to make sure you have no idea what you're actually being paid for. You walk in hoping to earn a fair return, and you walk out feeling robbed. If you care about honesty and your money, stay away from Waipahu Recycling Center. You'll regret going there. read more

Legit business that runs an honest operation! The ease of drop off and redemption / cash out is seamless! I just pop open the back of my van and the guys proceed to take the bags of aluminum and plastic where it's weighed. That weight is communicated to the cashier and by the time I drive up to the cashier (you'll have to get out of your car for this) she'll have a receipt and cash for you. Unlike this one recycling place in Ewa Beach, I leave here feeling like it's a just amount for the amount of bags of bring in. Arrived on a Monday (holiday) around 12:45. Leading up to this was a long line of cars heading to the dump. We bypassed them to find this location on the left. Small lot, 8 cars ahead of us upon arrival. You pull in & then do a U-turn to pull alongside the weights. The crew is very helpful, unloading your bags & throwing them into the containers for weighing. We were sure separate our cans, plastics (caps removed) and glass bottles. Ben, the manager, gave us helpful advice on the glass bottles for our next time (bag em rather than keep 'em in those case boxes). After emptying your load, you pull up & head to the cashier window for payment. 25 mins total from arrival to departure. The wait didn't seem that long tho! Friendly, efficient & hard-working! Had two cars full of trash bags of cans and bottles (sorted separate). There was no line and it took maybe 5 minutes. You just drive up and they take care of the rest. This was my first time going here and will definitely be coming again! If it seems like their is a line, that might be for the trash dump that is further pass the recycling center. I went on a Saturday around 2pm, there was a long line for trash dump, so I mistook it for the recycling center line. read more

I've been coming here for years to recycle. Very, very convenient and fast. Even though there's a line, it usually goes fast b/c they have a lot of workers. I would've given them a better rating except they will cheat you on the correct rate that they are supposed to pay you. There are two rates for turning in plastic bottles (I can't remember the exact rate that is listed by the payment window so I am just estimating from what I can remember). The higher rate is about $1.39/lb. for "small" plastic bottles only. The lower rate is something like $0.89 cents for mixed bottles "small and large (two liter size plastic type)." I only turned in one bag of plastic and I know for a fact that I only had small bottles because I sorted my bag before I went. When I got my cash and receipt they paid out the cheaper mixed bottle rate. I didn't catch this until I got home and there is no way I was going back to contest a few dollars. My advice to you is to check your receipt before you leave! Not sure if it's the workers doing this and/or the owner(s). Beware! read more

Don't tell anyone about this place. They will remove the recycle from your car or truck and put the empty boxes back in for you. all you need to do is go in make a U turn and wait your turn, when done move up so the next vehicle can be unloaded. then you go to the office to get your money. This so beats the others that make you empty and sort your own. The bad is that it's on the same road as the Waipahu dump and sometimes the line to go there backs up past the entrance to this place read more

Probably the easiest recycling place on the island. Traffic can be an issue but that's due to the city convenience, aka rubbish, drop off location down the road. Waipahu recycling got the system down. You'll enter driveway and get in line with rest of cars. A horseshoe line. Once your turn, pop your trunk or unlock your tailgate cause the crew does the rest. They'll grab all your recyclables. Get it weighed and throw away any rubbish. You pull forward and exit car to go to cashier. Sign and collect your proceeds. Please consider leaving a tip, these guys work hard. Then drive off. Super easy. Super friendly. Pretty fast. read more

I dread going to these places. Slow pace help and I just feel like there's no urgency for the workers to work faster and more efficient. That's why my husband does it by himself:) Fast forward----- we had a lot of errands to do and one of them was to recycle 5 bags. It was our first time here and finding it was kinda confusing. But it's ok .... Due to Covid you just stay in your vehicle and wait for your turn. They'll instruct you to come out to give your bags of bottles & cans. I had a few wine bottles that they told my husband wasn't recyclable. Oh well:/ But the reason why this place gets 5 stars was because they were fast, quick and very efficient. Everyone one of them hustled ! The line of cars was a lot but it was a breeze. When done you walk up to the window where they'll give you you're money ..... just like that ! Went today and had to wait so long, BECAUSE someone never follow the rules... Nothing separated,caps on water, rubbish, soda still in bottle and he had lots of bags. HOURS: Monday - Sunday from 8 AM - 5PM EXPERIENCE: Best recycling center I've been to yet!!! I came here around 9AM on a Thursday, it was super easy to find, lots of street parking (even though I've read in previous reviews that you can even pull into the area) and the workers are sooooo nice! I was hesitant to come here because I didn't know how long it was going to take, how long lines were gonna be, etc. There was NO lines whatsoever, everything took less than 5 minutes to drop off. This recycling center will definitely be my go-to, I am so glad it's close to home and my job as well. Looking forward to coming back next time! Thank you so much Waipahu Recycling, you rock. went here to sell copper scrap.. called ahead of time they staid 50lb minimum on the phone. went down there when i had 50 lbs. the guys said they can't take it unless it's all the same grade of copper. wouldn't even weigh it. they don't take insulated wire shiny stripped wire or pipes unless u have 50lbs each.wtf? read more

I'm pulling into someone's driveway? Not paying attention, I discovered that my regular cash pit was closed. That's what I get for not paying attention. I had to scramble to find a home for my recyclables . A quick yelp discovered this place and a quick apple maps got me here. First it's location threw me off. I mean I'm actually pulling into a driveway of a house. The only difference from all the other houses is the 4x4x4 blocks of plastic bottles and aluminum cans. It reminded me of the movie WALL-E. And the big huge yellow compactor in the back gave me a clue I was at the right spot. So I stayed behind a row of cars and moved up to the drop off point when directed. I'm use to dumping my stuff into a 10 gallon trash bin and bringing it to a scale. Here four workers took the plastic bags that held my recyclables, dumped them on these mesh bins and then emptied the bins into the compactor. The scale has to be in the compactor because I reported to the window and one of the guys was telling the lady at the window the weight. This is way more efficient. Overall four stars. Great hands free service. I just open the trunk or door and they take them right away. Can't quite give a five because there was some confusion which weight was mine and not the other guy. Also you don't see a remote digital screen with your weigh you just hear it unless you stick your head through a window. Now excuse me, I got an urge to watch Wreck It Ralph. M read more

Don't go this place, it's a rip off... I brought in beer bottles for recycling and instead of giving bottles pricing, they gave me aluminum can price... I also brought copper piping that I had from my home renovation, and instead of giving copper price of $1.25 per pound , the Japanese guy gave a price of brass... which was $1 per pound. This place is quick. Works greatly as a team as they do their best to tackle the lines before they get pumped up! They quickly grab your recycles. Close the back of your vehicle and all you do is sit in your car while they grab the weight numbers or your recycling. They automatically weigh it out for you and you just sign off on the amount. read more

I've been recycling for over 10 years and this is my new go-to place. You drive onto their property and when it's your turn, they take out all the cans out of the car for you and do the sorting themselves. All you have to do is drive up and sign your name when you collect your cash; they do all the work for you! If you don't wanna break a sweat, this is the place for you. read more

Sorry, for Sunday 10/23/22, Waipahu Recycling, this rating was because an employee, older man gray shirt and a hat, he threw my white bag on the ground/ with a non smile face looking at me, usually the men would smile and give my bag when I request. So Before this happened a young boy said to the older man to save the recycle bag and give to the customer, when the older man threw the white bag on the ground, I was shocked, first time this happened to me, but the young boy corrected the older man and picked up the bag and gave me the bag with a smile. The young boy should be praised. This happened about 2pm the older man was in front but the young boy unloaded and gave 2 bags to older man. I hope the manager will correct this and I hope the older man will learn to be positive, be humble, learn to be helpful, and kind to customers. I know your staff will support him and I pray for him. Me and my mom's first time here, and there wasn't any line. The staff there were friendly and directed me to make a U-Turn to face the entrance I entered from (same entry, same exit), and directed me where to park. They promptly unloaded all our (big) bags of recyclables from my vehicle, and weighed them all. My mom was assisted by a very friendly woman at the transaction window and offered us some friendly advice. We made a rookie mistake with mixing different types of recyclables together, which resulted us to walk away with a little less refund than what was expected (which, again, was our fault for not separating), but we are grateful for that tip of advice! Of course we came back months later (no line again) but this time, we separated the recyclables and received our utmost refund. YAY! Side Note: My mama is a tiny, gracefully stubborn Filipino lady that's hard to impress, so for her to beam at her receipt and talk to our relatives about this place, is the icing on the cake that prompts me to make this review. Can't go wrong with this recycling place. Quick & easy drive thru. I do suggest having your items separated but after that you don't have to lift a finger otherwise.
