Island Nails - Perfect end of summer pedicure - Nail Salons Near Me - Waves, North Carolina

Island Nails is a great little nail salon. This is my second year coming here for a pedi during vacation. Relaxing music playing, nice massage chairs and accommodating staff. It is clearly a family business as there are young children playing while the adults are working. The high school age daughter has done my pedicures both times; she is super sweet, gentle, meticulous, and thorough. As someone who grew up working in a family business, it is always nice to see a family working together. Definitely recommend! read more

I asked for a flower design and French tips. They were very accommodating and had so many colors to choose from. I didn't feel intimadated to voice my preferences and felt I had good creative control which is the best in a nail salon. Cindy did better than what I had in mind! I will be coming here whenever I visit the outer banks. I loved the atmosphere and the vibe of the nail salon. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover with this one!! I had some time to waste in Rodanthe and walked into this nail salon. I was seated immediately, showed them a inspiration picture and my manicurist got right to work. The nails turned out AMAZING and were very fairly priced! I will definitely be back! read more

I am fourteen and got my nails done by a middle aged man.... I showed him a picture of what I wanted. And said three times I wanted acrylic he proceeded to give me gel x which I don't know what that is. I was given no color options he choose my color. His children were bugging and climbing all over my mom in the waiting area. Than in the I said I'm really sorry but these are bad I said I would pay for what you have done. He charged me 65 dollars. And my mom called and he would not give me a refund. read more

This was probably the worse mani/pedi I've ever had. The pedi was fine. It was super quick and she didn't do things like cap the free edge like most manicure artists do (so the polish lasts longer.) Whatever, no big deal. I decide to get my finger nails done. That's where it really went down hill. First off she spoke zero English so you couldn't communicate even the basics. She was super rushed like she was trying to get it over with. The bowl of water to soak my nails was super cold. Then she didn't use cuticle remover or push back my cuticles. She nipped a couple spots which was fine. I could tell she didn't really know what she was doing so it was better she didn't cut much. There was no massage. The paint job looked worse than when I do it myself. She flooded my cuticle and then didn't tidy it up with a nail brush. At this point I just wanted it to be done. Also, I asked her not to buff my nails because they are paper thin as-is and I can't afford them to be any thinner. When the guy that spoke English translated she did that thing where she looks at you and starts taking away and it feels like they are talking about you. The last straw was when her daughter started playing in the bowl of water that my nails were soaking in. That is not hygienic at all. If she's going to let her play in my used nail water then I'm sure the hygiene standards aren't much higher elsewhere. Let's just say I won't be back. read more

The owners are lovely and kind and they do nice pedicures. However, this place is very dirty and I was not quite sure about how hygienic it was. All they would need to do is give it a good cleaning, and this would be a nice little place. read more

My husband and I went for a pedicure while on vacation at Hatteras. We called ahead the day before and we're able to get a 9am appt. For the next day. The staff, (which consisted of a father and his young adult children) were waiting for us. The attention to detail was outstanding. One of the best pedicures I have ever had. The hot stone comes with the basic pedicure! The young man did my pedicure and he was sure to paint the whole toe nail (that is a pet peeve of mine when getting a pedicure). I would defiantly recommend this family run business. Nice honest hardworking people. Show these guys some love. FYI, they prefer cash tips (because who wants to pay taxes on tips?) read more

Great service. Relaxing time. Manicures and Pedicures for three of us and they really took care of our experience. We did gel polish, dip gel, and regular polish- all great. read more

My sisters and I came in for mani pedis and our experience wasn't the best. My sister was burned by the rocks during her pedicure and they never asked if she was okay. As I was getting my CnC dip nails taken off, he basically just ripped 3 off with a pallet knife (which hurt, and damaged my nails). I then asked him to do the regular soak off with acetone then file, which he did. When he was sanding my nails down, he nicked 3 parts of my mail bed skin and continued to do so throughout the entire manicure, even when i said "Ouch." At the end, it was pretty obvious I was bleeding, yet he proceeded to douse my finished nails in rubbing alcohol. The entire manicure I was on the verge of crying. It was the most sped thru and painful experience I have ever had. My nails ended up looking fine, but I will never go back there again. read more

DON'T GO HERE! Walked into the salon and the place was very dirty. The person doing my nails was very rough while filing to the point where my cuticles bled. I asked for a design and wanted to clarify that he was able to do it and the design was sloppy and rushed. Many times I remained respectful and asked him to edit it and make it look cleaner, but I was met with a very poor attitude. Don't go here, it is not worth it. read more

This was the best gel manicure I've ever had! I made an appointment while on vacation and will absolutely be back next vacation to OBX! I had a gel mani and gel pedi, and loved them both! The salon was clean and the atmosphere was so calm and relaxing. I definitely felt like I got my monies worth with the Spa pedicure and would totally upgrade and get it again. The gentleman who did my mani, I feel, went out of his way to make sure my nails looked great. My nails were so short, but I left feeling like they look so clean and perfectly shaped. They don't have prices listed but immediately hand you a menu and nail color swatches when you arrive. I felt the prices were very reasonable for the high quality services, and like other reviewers said, they prefer cash tips. (Regular pedi was $35, Spa Pedicure was $45, plus $15 for gel, gel mani was $35.) Highly recommend Island Nails, and will be back next time I'm in town! read more

Walked in here on a whim while we were visiting in mid-October for two pedicures and it was a wonderful, pleasant surprise. We were seated immediately and were able to soak our feet and relax while the staff finished with a group of manicure customers. They had a large selection of colors in my opinion, and the experience was overall very nice. Even the most basic pedicure comes with a bit of a foot and leg massage and hot stone treatment. Our nails looked great, and my regular polish still looks great more than a week later. This is not a super luxurious spot, but they took great care of us and it was exactly what we needed! read more

If you can't be patient and understanding that they are understaffed, please be aware that they only have 2-3 employees working at any time. That being said, it was very much worth the wait. The place is very clean and convenient to the Tri-Village area. The owners and employees are friendly and appreciative and they do great work. I got a pedicure and my daughter got her nails painted and we were both impressed. The foot and leg massage is worth it on its own, but my nails turned out great, too! Go forth and be pampered! read more

Brilliant. Loved the calming music and gentle waterfall sounds. Clean. My nails look wonderful and the massage was amazing!

When I first walked in, there were already a few people waiting. The owner told me to come back in 45 minutes. There was no usual menu on the wall.A little skeptical, I went back for a Mani -Pedi. I'm glad I did. When you sit for your Treatment, they give you a menu to choose from.I had a fantastic mani pedi that lasted for weeks! read more

Absolutely awful service! Got up in the middle of my nails to answer the phone and continued to do it over and over again! Then didn't even finish them and tried to charge me $65 dollars for a full set and one color. Nothing special just regular nails. Ridiculous!!!! read more

I went to that new nail salon ... had them do a lip wax and eyebrow along with my pedicure. Really didn't need my eyebrows but I let them do a little bit that I had. Very painful, ripped off several layers of skin. Very painful and puffy today. I don't think I'll let them do my eyebrows again. And lip waxing went fine, for the pedicure he almost acted like they were afraid to give a good massage. I'll check back with them in the middle of tourist season and see if they still a little bit more comfortable. Not a good review I will give for this first time. They definitely put the eye wax on my eyelid and not my eyebrow, way too low. I guess that's what I get for having a man do it. I was excited to have a new nail salon coming to our area instead of having to drive 27 miles to my usual salon read more

I came on a tuesday at 2 which i can imagine isn't normally too busy so them being understaffed is some what understandable but they said they could easily do the nails i asked for (which was a french tip but with a nude base and after starting said they couldn't. Their bathroom was in a like back room and didn't have a light. They aren't too bad with plain nails (their nail polish selection isn't great) but they are semi capable basic nails but anything more including just adding gems is most likely not happening. read more
