True hole-in-the-wall gem!…read more UNKO's KITCHEN is the definition of a hidden treasure. Authentic Hawaiian food and desserts in the most unexpected spot -- literally inside a Shell gas station in the middle of nowhere! Don't let the location fool you, because this place is the real deal. The food tastes like it came straight from Hawaii -- flavorful, comforting, and made with care. If you're craving real Hawaiian food, this is the spot. Portions are solid, service is fast, and everything is to-go, which makes it perfect for a quick stop. This is one of those places you must try at least once... and then you'll keep coming back. You will not regret stopping by UNKO's KITCHEN

I wouldn't have guessed it would be in the Shell gas station, and when I first arrived I thought it had closed. To my delight, it was still open, and I just had to walk into the store. I felt like I was transported back to my hometown with all their decorations and stickers. The food was absolutely amazing with great prices and portions! The meat jun was something I can never find on the mainland, until now! Too bad I like 3 hours away (that won't stop me from visiting). The service is quick and if you want to make sure they have what you want, I suggest you get there towards the opening hours. The first day we went was during the last two hours of open and they sold out of meat Jun and their spam + egg musubis, but the next day we got there at open and they had it all! Amazing food, service, and ambience! You definitely need to try this place!

Thankfully dine-in is back open again, so we got here on a Saturday morning around 11:20am to indoor seating that was nearly full and a small line that was forming at the front counter. Walls have a bunch of photo frames, and overall place felt very homely. They have a ton of Hawaiian style plates and even burgers and some seafood, though we and most others got the former to eat. I ordered their chicken and pork combo Hawaiian style plate, and my bestie got their chicken katsu Hawaiian style plate. Portions are huge for both plates and both also came with macaroni salad. They give you sooooo much meat no matter what you get. To go in slightly more detail: - Chicken and pork combo: both meats were flavored very well, and a little sweet too though pretty salty without using the rice as a palette cleanser. Chicken had more depth in its flavor; the pork's flavor was a little too much for my liking, and was slightly harder to chew. Both meats had some sauce hat went onto the rice itself. This didn't detract from my overall experience here, though. - Chicken katsu: we both agreed this was our favorite after exchanging pieces of each other's dish. The katsu is crispy and crunchy, and the chicken itself retained a lot of its juiciness. Katsu sauce on the side is honestly optional since the meat itself is already salty enough. This place does share extremely limited parking with Cakes of Paradise next door, so get here early or be prepared to drive around the area to find some. Just get here, it's a place you can't pass up when you hit up Georgetown!

Parking is scarce, so plan ahead and be patient. We came on a Wednesday and happened to score a parking spot right in front of the bakery. Once you arrive, get in line immediately--there will be one. The woman taking our order was incredibly peppy and friendly, even while juggling everything: taking in-person orders, answering phones, serving customers, and bagging food. Seriously impressive. All the seats were filled, so we ordered everything to-go. We got the famous crispy ginger chicken, spam musubi, and chicken long rice. I was hoping for oxtail soup and asked about it--she explained they only offer it on certain days and recommended calling early in the morning to check, then getting there quickly because it sells out fast. Can't wait to come back and try it. Back at the hotel, we feasted. The crispy ginger chicken is famous for a reason--so flavorful, perfectly crispy, and somehow even better the next day. The chicken long rice was packed with noodles directly in the soup (not separately) so the broth had mostly soaked into the noodles, but it was still deeply flavorful and comforting. The spam musubi leans on the sweeter side, which is great if that's your thing. Overall, this place is all about heart, hustle, and seriously satisfying Hawaiian comfort food. Come early, expect a line, plan for parking--and you'll be rewarded.

It was very helpful to see signage along State for the restaurant. I had just dropped off a family member to another function, so to make it worthwhile with the traffic congestion and cost of gas, I decided to have a late lunch here. Tiny spot with perimeter counter seating and just 4 four tops for onsite dining. Lots of people waiting for takeout, plus I saw signage about being understaffed. So I just placed and paid for my order via the touchscreen kiosk located to the left of the main counter. I ordered the laulau plate, which came with the usual two scoops rice, one scoop mac (macaroni salad) and a Safeway brand bottled water. Note for paid beverages, items are obtained from the refrigerated cases by the entrance. There's also complimentary iced lemon water available from the dispenser on the counter. There's some merch also available for sale. During my visit, I only saw powdered poi, jams, jellies, and some snacks. Ambiance was created via Alexa playing island tunes per one of the staff members request. Eventually I did get my order, as did others. Visually it looked promising. However, as I started eating, the first scoop of rice was a bit mushy. I ate one, the other I brought home. The mac salad was okay. The laulau was also okay, but it was a bit disappointing that it was just pork and no butterfish (sablefish) visible. The pork was very tender and succulent, just missing the fish component. With tax & tip, this was a little over $27. On the fence, whether this would merit a return visit.

All the staff were pretty chill and nice. Love all their smiles. I got my favorite, Beef Stew. I ordered this often in Lynnwood site, especially when I was sick. Regarless, it's on different location, the taste is the same! So, I'm happy about it. The vibe is completely different than Lynnwood one. This restaurant is darker and guests are way louder. Mostly, university students, I think. I like dim light atmosphere, unfortunately, I can't enjoy it much here. Too loud? Too dark? Or it's just not the right light bulbs, it got me dizzy. It was at night, it made the room even gloomy. Upon returning to the parking lot, the atmosphere is somewhat unsettling. This is particularly true for a woman walking alone. To access the parking lot, I had to walk through the darkness to the back of the building. Unfortunately, due to the narrow parking lot, one car was parked in a manner that blocked the exit way, requiring me to reverse all the way out. Overall fantastic staff, fantastic food, but I may not comeback because the vibe just doesn't suit me. This restaurant will most likely be very busy in the better location and fresh look.
