The refund does not change that loss. I brought several MAC knives in for sharpening and was quoted a two-week turnaround. They were ultimately held for over four weeks. During that time, I was told the delay was due to the owner's daughter being in town, which I understood and accommodated. Two days before pickup, I was told the knives had barely been started. The following morning, I received a call saying the work was complete. Later, I was told the sharpening had all been done the day before pickup, despite the knives being held for over a month. While the edges were sharp, the knives were returned with numerous dark, pepper-like surface marks across the blade faces, particularly near the heel and along the flats. These marks and pits were not present when I dropped them off. Washing with soap and water did not change them, and they appear permanent. I am a professional chef and take meticulous care of my knives, so changes in condition are immediately noticeable to me. Given the extended delay, the condition the knives were returned in, and how the concern was initially handled, I have lost confidence in the service. I had previously left a five-star review, which makes this outcome particularly disappointing. I would not feel comfortable bringing additional knives here or recommending this shop to others who rely on their knives professionally.
