nakita at the front desk is such a wonderful, compassionate young lady!!! she has assisted me several times by getting me in to see the doctor or nurse that is on duty.....she does this when i don't have an appointment!!!! she is quite the asset to the island doctors at old moltrie!!!!! dr. hinman is fortunate to have nakita on his staff!!!!! read more

New to Island Doctors. Called this morning to see if they had received blood work from last week. A lovely person transferred me to nurse. Don't know who she was but was extremely rude to me and obviously did not want to be bothered. She gave me number to call. Before I hung up I asked her to try and be a little nicer and I was sorry she was having a bad day. She hung up on me. My limited experience with island Doctors has been very pleasant up till now. Sorry had to vent. No place to act like that. Guess it's not a big deal anymore. Care has been wonderful. Hopefully will be back to great next time I go. read more

made an appointment to go in and see a doctor while visiting Saint Augustine. They took the appointment I showed up and then they said they don't take appointments with "people from out of town" Lady at the front desk was incredibly rude and you could tell. Just wanted to get home so she didn't wanna deal with anything. The doctor should really look at who they put as their face in the front office. read more

Very rude reception staff. Trying to get established with a primary care doctor. Was told by an in network dermatologist office that I had to have a referral from a primary care md not a pa. I did not realize that I had been assigned a primary care doctor. My insurance card and id was requested. I was handed a clipboard and told I could have my cards back after I filled out paperwork. Filled out paper work was then told I already had a primary care physician and they couldn't treat me for anything unless I had a referral from my primary care or if I filled out a change request form. I told the girl assisting me that I was there mainly to get a referral for a dermatologist. Some other girl sitting in a corner told me I didn't need a referral for a dermatologist unless they were out of network. I told her the dermatologist was in network and told me I had to have a referral. She started arguing with me that I was incorrect. Then I asked the girl that was assisting me if I should even bother seeing the doctor and she told me probably not. Very unprofessional rude reception so glad I didn't bother to go any further. read more

I have to write this review about Dr Harris, at islands doctor he was the rudest dr ever. I have came across other ones and they were nice and understanding this one dr Harris came in with an attitude and bluntly said no to my question and didn't even hear my side or ask why I needed it. No time or thought from him. I would not recommend being seen from him. Big no no other than that island doctor is good it just this one dr dr Harris read more

I went to Anastasia - Island doctors because my Humana insurance only had them in their plans coverage, and in Every city surrounding St Augustine! so I couldn't get away from Dr. Hinman's bandaids for bullet holes bedside manner, twice Island Doctors had to send me to see Dr. Ali - am infectious disease specialist for adverse reactions etc after medicinal applications recommended at Anistasia Island office, 7 days in ER and lost all the skin on both legs down layers to the muscles and on hands (tried to wash off the applied skin cream) when it started to burn the skin under the soft casts wrapped around my legs from knees down, and after - I had that reaction .. and recovered .. I had a prescription change (though the nurse advised not to change it) as I just got out of the hospital and another reaction could occur from the prescription change, but that Dr. said; 'I'm the doctor' of course I had another reaction - back to Dr. Ali and this time it was Bells Palsy, 5 days in ER, red dots on my scalp and face - my one eyelid would not close properly from the Palsy and it watered for 6 months ... a year had went by and the office finally called me to see why I've not returned.. I went to United Healthcare.. PS.. when Dr. Cory was there it was a great place, she left because of Hinman's office ethics ... was not what she knew as the Hippocratic Oath she followed... read more

I have been trying to get an approval for an oncology referral made by my PA on 5-01-24 and it has continuously been ignored by this medical director. I then started calling every 2 hours for a referral update for 4 days now. Island Doctors staff just keep telling me that the doctor hasn't responded. FOUR DAYS. Now the Island Doctor staff is ignoring my calls - they are putting me on hold and not returning to the phone. PLEASE LOOK FOR ANOTHER DOCTOR. I will be filing a complaint with the state against this doctor tomorrow since it is now AGAIN after 5 today and still no response. And NO REFERRAL APPROVAL. read more

my review at this time is solely based off of how many signs there are in the office about losing weight, which would be fine because excess weight can complicate issues but theres a sign in the bathroom that literally states "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels". the ignorance is astounding. skinny does not equal fit. skinny can be just as unhealthy. read more

I feel that Island Doctors aren't professional enough for my business. This was located in their office. The have no respect for you as a patient or for the profession. There are too many other great doctors in St. Augustine to settle for this one. read more

Island Doctors - This is showing that they don't have any respect for the profession. - Doctors Near Me - Saint Augustine, Florida

This chain of medical offices cater to quantity of the number of patients seen per hour and do not focus on the quality of care given to the patients. You may go fir years and never see a doctor, but are cared for by NP, or a PA . It is often that you see someone different with each visit that is not familiar with your previous medical treatment plan and therefore send you for unnecessary tests. Or prescribe too much medication. Your records are never reviewed before presenting you with a "New" treatment plan . Office staff does not follow through with simple tasks, sending in prescriptions to pharmacy or online pharmacy's request for refills. You will have to put in many hours to follow up with the office to make sure they are doing their job as per doctor's treatment plan . This practice's focus is to bill Medicare for as much as possible . Let's remember, this is a business , not a Non-Profit organization. Advocate for what you feel is necessary . Ask questions , get a second opinion. read more

Island Doctors is in reorganization. Their services, both medical and administrative, have been subpar for quite some time. Appointment times are difficult to schedule, and office wait times are unusually long. After December 31st, 2023, Island Doctors will become an HMO. Consequently, many of their patience have been dropped for not carrying one of four required Advantage option plans. The notification process to their patients about the new requirement was a complete failure and many were left with no medical coverage. Patients were notified by an unsigned letter about the change but were given very little time to research and obtain supplemental coverage. Island Doctors gave their patients an ultimatum, either sign up for one of the only four Advantage option plans they would accept or look elsewhere for medical coverage. Stay away from Island Doctors if you can. It's about the money, not you the patient. read more

I went to the office on Anastasia Island at 11:15. My appointment was 11:30. Almost TWO HOURS later I was still waiting. I am diabetic and alone and went into a low. They expected to hang around and I was so low and afraid I could not drive home. This used to be a good office but NOT ANY MORE. No doctors, they all left. Young inexperienced PA's who are so unprofessional including some of the nurses. I was there another day and they were actually yelling at each other. The worst. I left with nothing I needed. read more

The most dysfunctional support staff of any medical clinic I encountered in over 50 years. I got a bill from Quest Diagnostics and called Island Doctors on 507 Navy Blvd in Pensacola requesting the last date I was scheduled for lab work from their office. They put me on hold with muzak for over 10 minutes. By then I was irate and called back explaining that my request should take no longer than a couple of minutes from a computer. They slammed the phone down on me. I called back to talk to someone else and she referred me to a "billing Dept" in St Augustine which was a dead end. That dept wanted to refer me to another dept. That is when I got really livid. Island Doctors is big enough to play the bureaucratic shuffle. Then I called back and explained how utterly dysfunctional their staff is and got another sociopathic receptionist hang up on me (altogether 3 hangups). On a positive note : At least the staff is consistently rude and insane. I called my current doctor (I had left Island Doctors because they no longer took my insurance--another form of rudeness) and within two minutes I got the information I needed after talking to a very pleasant receptionist. There is something "rotten in Denmark" at Island Doctors. And why do they hand out cheap trinkets in front of thrift stores where elderly congregate to allure customers? Are they that desperate for customers? If so, I wonder why! Perhaps they should rent out a float for next Mardi Gras and throw out hail mary beads because their customers/patients will need to use the beads after going to Island Doctors. read more

First time I went in Island Doctors office in Deland Fl. I was baker acted. Malpractice. They don't even get to know you. There is a big difference between wishing you were dead and saying that you are going to kill yourself. In intense pain. Severe scoliosis. Been saying that I wished I were dead for 20 years, I'm still alive. Saying it and doing it are 2 different things. This doctor can NOT handle people. They didn't even try. Now I have a police record. Disgusting. Would not take my dog to this organization. read more

Island doctors old moultrie is the most proactive office I have ever experienced. They call you when you need to have a yearly test done and they hold you to it, eye exams, mammograms, bone density. And they follow up to see if you picked up an important prescription at the pharmacy. Dr Kye Chong and the whole staff from the office to the nurses are great, I don't have a negative thing to say and I've been going to them for ten years. read more

Island Doctors is an incompetent organization. I was assigned to them by my insurance and in my 72 years I've never been so poorly treated or diagnosed. These people only care about what they can bill you and your insurance. They refuse to fax medical records to doctors or hospitals that request them. They are a store front company. You will get better treatment in a 3rd world country. AVOID Island Doctors at any of their offices at all costs. read more

The office in Palm Coast on Hospital drive is the worse, very unprofessional. You do not tell a woman who has gone through breast cancer, you never heard of a breast doctor. I called my "breast doctor" to ask her title, breast specialist. Someone in the medical field should know what I was asking for. The office manager in Marietta GA thought that was very sad on top of being unprofessional. I did not want people in charge of my health that showed so much ignorance. Have a great doctor now. Do not waste your time in this office. read more

Helpful staff and Doctors.I have been a patient for many years and I am very grateful for all they do.

I took my 95 year old mom to the Moultrie location to dr. Quinn over a year ago. Well dr. Quinn was likable enough I didn't feel like Mom was really getting the care she needed. For example I asked about having someone come in to check vitals and help with a few things which Medicare covers with a doctor recommendation, and was told that she didn't qualify because she was able to walk with a walker on her own. After a couple of visits I decided to change to dr. Dinofrio. On our second appointment with him we were kept there for an hour and a half before finally a nurse practitioner came in and told us he wasn't going to be there. She basically did nothing and send us on our way. A few days later I needed one of my mom's prescriptions refilled. I called the office and finally managed to get it done after several days, but then I received the call that they were not going to renew any of her prescriptions until she got blood work done. These were test she had done six months earlier at the cost of several hundred dollars and they basically showed that she was very healthy. She gets three prescriptions that she has been taking for years. What kind of doctor threatens to cut off an old woman's medicine to blackmail her into getting unneeded tests done? Needless to say I found her a new doctor who is not part of Island doctors. read more

Stay away from this practice!!! Hacks!!! Dr Hinman is a businessman not a doctor!!! I feel like we're going to the local deli! My mom has many medical issues and we mistakenly chose Humana gold. Only 2 providers in Saint Augustine. Whether you're a walk in or have an appointment, your wait time is always 2hours. Then they put you in s room for an additional hour. So unprofessional! Mom was in distress with CHF and I brought her in and the NP told her to go home and boil a whole chicken then drink the broth. I'm a novice and know YOU NEVER TELL SOMEONE WITH FLUID OVERLOAD TO DRINK MORE BROTH!!! I left there and went to Flagler ER and they listened and took care of her immediately!! The ER doctor just shrugged his shoulders as heard what had happened. He said that I was correct and that I did the right thing by bringing her in. All she needed was an adjustment with her diuretic meds. Now when we have any events like this, I go directly to her cardiologist or her nephrologist. read more

This review will disappear from the site soon, so I hope you get to read it. Stay away from Island Doctors of St. Augustine, or your health will greatly decline. Want to stop smoking or lose weight?? Hey, they are there for you......asking you to eat pickles. Seriously. But, if you have complex health issues, go to ANYBODY else. My husband is much sicker after two hospitalizations and office visits with these 'doctors'. The doctor/owner is so busy answering personal phone calls in the examining room that I doubt he knows who he is seeing. He also spent about 10 minutes reading my husband's chart in front of us.....It was evident he had NO idea what my husband's health issues were.....he didn't have the sense to review the chart ahead of time. He did, however, prescribe a drug used 40 years ago for my husband when he is already on a newer drug that works better for the same problem. Then, should you be hospitalized, you will meet another doctor in this practice who almost has a seizure if you are on a pain med. He immediately discontinues it....my husband went into withdrawal (from a chronic pain condition).....and ultimately ended up in ICU. AFTER this 'doctor' chastised my husband for being on pain meds, (under an MD/anesthesiologist who has probably forgotten more about pain control than Dr. D knows)......he asked, "What is this pain you have anyway?' This doctor is arrogant, rude.....thinks he knows everything and doesn't need to listen to the patient or family as to what has 'worked in the past' or any new problems you have. I work in the medical field, and I can say this.....How the hell did this guy get a license to practice medicine?!? Please stay away from this practice if you are ill. If you want to look at pickles and globs of plastic fat reminding you that you are overweight, by all means go to their office and be treated like a sub-human. All I can say is, you have been warned. And I hope you see this review before the doctors or Yelp or whomever takes it down. Don't believe me?? Call me....you'll get an ear-full. read more

I just read this horrible review of Island Drs in St Augustine and I want to counter that review with a positive one. I have Dr Kai Chong...she is wonderful ...she has been my primary Dr for eight years. When needed she never hesitates to send me to a specialist. The office is on top of my yearly exams my blood work etc. When recently diagnosed with breast cancer through my mammogram she texted the surgeon (while I waited)to get me in immediately. He was wonderful too..and so was Flagler Hospital Cancer Specialists....oh and the nurses and office staff are wonderful too....I am soooo confident that I am being well taken care of, I am 76 a retired school teacher...having taught 44 years before retiring to st Augustine read more

I left this practice after a PA wanted to increase my statin from 40 to 80 mg even though my levels were in normal range and showed a 10% improvement. My risk factor was average. When I expressed concern for side effects and asked questions, I was accused of arguing with him! They also did an EKG and he told me there was something wrong with my heart but it was okay because it was on the good side!?! When I went to fill the persciption, the pharmacist questioned the high dose and suggested I cut the pill in half when I told her my cholesterol levels. My new doctor validated my concerns and said there was no need to increase the Lipitor, stating she would be more concerned with liver damage from the high dose. Beware and know how to read your blood work., which you will have to ask to see. In addition, the office wait time is lengthy, the staff is condescending, and communication is poor. I was told my perscriptions would be called in, and then when I went to pick up, the pharmacy had not received a call. No one bothered to call me to tell me there was a problem. In fairness to Dr. Kye Chong, she was thorough, but I usually saw a PA. I feel this practice pushes statins and in turn over tests. read more

Doc saves lives, I have witnessed it. Yes he cares if you are overweight or smoke, he's helped thousands quit and lose weight so they can live their lives to the fullest. Pickles are a negative calorie food, giving potato chip addicts a great way to satisfy their salt addiction. Yes he answers his phone, his patients can call him 24/7, he just rushed one personally last night to to hospital while he was hosting guests at his home. He is extremely passionate about getting his patients healthy, if you aren't up for that challenge, go somewhere else. I have the statistics to prove his practices are top in quality and have the lowest admissions of most other docs. read more

I had to write a review after the previous. Clearly misinformed with nutrition and the health benefits of natural healing and wants only toxic meds and doesn't like to listen to what is really good for you. Weight control. I love this place. Yes they are very busy. You can always WALK IN NO appt to their offices. They ALWAYS have emergency after hours a a few locations to go to. They even have an acupuncturist to help with pain management. They have a friend of mine lined up for looking into stem cell therapy. As far as their drug therapy. I can bet the previous reviewer is talking about Metformin. It's an older drug but Google the health benefits it has opposed to some of the newer drugs that in my guess wasn't helping her husband. That's why they switched. Many things most primary cares would refer you out they will do there. Personally I hate being referred all over the place for simple things. I like the way medicine was practiced years ago. Got a cut doc stitched you up. Yearly female exam doc did it. If you had a serious issue he/she would refer you to a specialist. Island Dr. Have no problem with referral either. If they try to fix you up and it doesn't work they will WITH OUT HESITATATION REFER OUT. Not every place is perfect thanks to Obummer care or any socialized medicine. Many of these doctors are in or are service connected thank you for your service Island Doctor. read more

I feel obligated to write this review to warn others. I'm a retired attorney who worked for 30 years in the legal-medical field handling disability cases and med malpractice cases. for a number of years ive been on pain killers due to a l hip surgery 3 yrs ago and a compression fx in my low spine. I was getting the meds thru a pain dr since island doctores do not believe in pain. this past january I fell due to the wrong bp meds and broke my l shoulder I was hospitized for 3 days w surgery. the next month I feel in the garage and broke my r hip. 7 days in the hospital and 3 weeks in rehab. my family dr. donofrio at island doctors refused me adequate meds for pain telling me he had shoulder surgery and only tool tylanol. well; good for him but I have a back fracture ,a shoulder and hip surgery and I'm in pain. to make matters worse he called my pain clinic and told them I was and addict and now they wont give me the meds I need. so I'm I'm constant pain, cant sleep and have trouble walking wo pain. im thinking of a lawsuit in this one. keep away from island doctors because if you are in pain they wont believe you and wont treat you adequately. especially dr Daniel donofrio. I have been a patient at the old Moutrie location for years and I have been seen by to CA's which I consider very knowledgeable with treatment of me.For the last 4 years I have been seen by David Williams who I highly recommend. He cured many problems I had and recently caught a virus that if left undone would have meant my life. I am 84 and never been in a hospital as a patient and in late January I spent 4 days at Flagler and now I am recovering from what he found out. I will agree there are doctors there which I will not see but if you go ask for a one on one which you might care for. They have helped me in so many ways, you can go to what ever group is available and knowing humans they will complain who ever they see. My PA sits with me no matter how long it takes and explains every meaning of my blood work and answers any questions I may ask him. My daughter goes with me, her choice, and believe me she asked many questions into the health problems I go for which really aren't many. So far all referral doctors they have sent me to are of the highest standards. My only complaint is some, not many of the help are rude to you as they are not dedicated as they should be. read more
