It's an up and down situation there. Sometimes Dr.s and staff are great and sometimes they aren't. It's about 50/50 chance of either, imo.

Dr Long and his assistants Rita and Jason are great working with. But dr long refused to return my pharmacies phone call and he told me when I questioned it. " I don't speak to pharmacist " The office staff think they are doing the patience's a favor when you ask them a question and they prefer not giving u the time of day. Yes 3 years ago Covid swamped their office and they couldn't answer the phone. 3 years later they still don't answer the phones. There are signs all over the office saying "that they don't Tolerate abuse to their workers".Obviously if they get that much abuse from their patients it mustn't be the patients that cause the problem. Its saddens me that I can't keep my business local on the island but my health is more important then keeping there grumpy staff happy. read more

I have been going to Crescent Beach for about a decade. I am absolutely astounded at these angry reviews. First of all, since the pandemic, many many businesses have had a hard time finding enough help, I don't know if this is the case here or not. The fact that Crescent Beach Care is so booked is because they have a thriving practice due to exceptional care. It can be difficult to get an appointment with your favorite Dr., but when I've had emergencies, they always accommodated me with someone to help. I have been to Dr Long, Jacob and Dr Thor, so I can't give an opinion on anyone else, but people I've seen over the years for walk-in issues have been good as well. I have many friends and family who use this practice. No complaints from them either. Dr Thor is an incredible diagnostician, caregiver and amazing human. She is patient, caring and kind; easy to talk to about difficult subjects. Having said that, if you are not currently a patient of hers, there can be long wait times in getting an appointment because she's THAT good. So if that doesn't work for you, I would suggest Jacob. As to the staff, the situations described have not been my experience at all. Sadly, I think folks take the time to leave a review when they are displeased, but perhaps not when things go smoothly. read more

Need to clarify first that I never had a chance to see or speak with Dr. Thor directly. My interactions were with the nurse practitioners who failed to recognize classic symptoms of a heart attack in a woman. For three weeks they treated me for GIRD (which I also thought I had) with no success in alleviating my burning chest pains and shortness of breath. Ended up taking myself to the ER were they discovered I had a widow maker heart attack. Upon discharge, my cardiologist recommended I see my primary care physician within 3 to 5 days. Dr. Thor's staff would not allow that to happen. I am thankful that I am OK today, but have zero confidence in the staff's ability at Dr. Thor's office. Additionally, based on the blood work they did at their facility, they recommended I donate blood because my red blood count was too high. All the Blood work came back abnormally high for me. When the hospital did two CBCs,, all the blood work came back normal. Including a red blood cells. Zero confidence in their ability to diagnose and treat appropriate conditions. read more

Very clear that you better not be "rude" to staff, but patients are treated with total disregard and pushed to the point of total frustration. Do not have an on-site lab, but not clear on where the labs were sent. Never could find out and never got phone calls returned. This went on for two weeks until my script was out and my labs would mean nothing. Rather than return my call, the assistant apparently sent the script to the wrong pharmacy I have never been to. I have taken time away from work three times, two trips to the labs/pharmacy and still have no labs, no script, an no returned calls. Yet, don't be rude to...the staff. I teach clinicians. This makes me very sad that we have such disregard for patients. I will be using this in my class. read more

The office never answers the phone. You have a leave a message and it takes a day to call you back, IF they call you back at all. To their defense, they do have a message saying due to COVID-19, they are super busy. Well, seems like if you are so busy you can't answer the phone, the solution would be hire some extra people to help. I have also never even seen Dr. Long, who is the doctor I'm assigned to. Read the reviews. What people are saying about not answering the phone and being shuffled around to various staff besides your assigned doctor is very accurate. The care the PA and Nurse I did get to see was good. However, having to go through the nonsense to get an appointment is inefficient and not necessary for a doctors office. read more

Since I moved here to St Augustine I have been using this facility as my primary care doctor. But it is so difficult to deal with the people that work there it has become stressful. The simplest tasks appear to be the hardest. And I try over and over again not to be disappointed and yet my disappointment remains a constant. The staff does not follow through. I can not comprehend how a medical facility stays in business when they don't know which end is up. You never get to see the doctor only the practitioners but you are charged for seeing a doctor. There is no sliding scale. Doctor $100 - Practitioners $75 - Physicians Assistant $50 and so forth. The front office or back office which ever part of the office you talk with they don't follow through. It's a nightmare. read more

When I came to this office, it was because of the terrible service I received at another doctors office and I wasn't willing to continue that sort of treatment. I was very pleased with Crescent Beach Care from the moment I arrived. The staff was friendly and helpful, the PA I saw was kind, knowledgeable and very helpful. As time has gone on and I've been quite a few times, I maintain I love the PA's and Dr I've seen. And most the staff has been great, however there are a couple staff members that do not care. They don't follow through, they don't have compassion for mental health patients and they give false information. This can be and is a problem for many reasons when dealing with mental health. Having lazy and misinformed staff will cause severe problems, and it will cause patients to leave your practice. Myself included. Being a great Dr is only part of a great practice. You've got to have great staff to back you up. I won't name names, but I will say it may be harder for men to be compassionate but they need to, plain and simple. And they need to do their jobs. FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE PATIENTS!!! read more

When you look online, it advertises as an urgent care facility. This is exactly what it feels like. I have been a patient there for a year and have never seen the same person twice. Extremely hard to get in with Dr. Thor and have been with a different PA or Nurse Practitioner every time. I want a doctor who knows me. Here they do not. I chose this practice after moving here because it is conveniently located to where I live. I am elderly and have diabetes and high blood pressure, so its not like I only see a doctor once a year. OMG. The saddest group of people. Not friendly or warm. Today, I waited 45 minutes for my appointment and the tech was rude and unkind when I asked why the wait. Their phone goes to a phone bank there is no way to call the office and get a human on the phone. It takes at least 2 days for anyone to get back to you. read more

I do not recommend this practice. While the doctors may be okay, the office staff is dysfunctional. We made appointments that were erroneously canceled because the vendor they used made mistakes, they provided inaccurate information with regard to insurance coverage, and they rarely answer the phones or respond to portal messages. All calls are handled via a complex, automated phone tree system and are forced to voicemail with warnings that if you don't follow their instructions exactly, they will not return your call. As an excuse, they have been claiming that they are experiencing "extremely high call volumes" for almost two years now. They are very unfriendly to patients and apparently woefully understaffed. We have not had this experience with other providers. read more

I Scheduled an appointment and when I arrived I was told I didn't have an appointment to see the doctor but rather had an appointment for bloodwork. I explained that I hadn't seen the doctor for bloodwork. I was then told I needed an appointment with a doctor and the next appointment would be in three weeks. When I explained that my appointment was now, the child behind the counter looked at me like I was from Mars. I've worked as a consultant to large scale medical practices. Never seen this before. Simply unbelievable. In my experience this is almost impossible to fix. If this is the culture...well its not good. read more

My gosh to say they are unorganized is an understatement. I don't really understand why there is so much confusion around the front desk. Even the quick care down the street that has a 5 hour wait could answer the phone to tell me. I love Dr. Long, but I'm having to switch Doctors because I can never get ahold of the front desk and when I do they are so unorganized they can't make a appointment or if they do it's 2 weeks away..which is really a shame. This practice is a waste of time - on a scale of 0 - 10, I rate them below zero!!! They do NOT answer the phone or return calls. We are new to St. Augustine and needed a primary care doc. We made an appointment and waited 3 months to get in. We were assigned a nurse practitioner who was very personable and appeared competent, but the office staff that we dealt with is rude, incompetent and lie. The office gal said she sent me an email regarding the voice mail message I left 4 days ago. I told her I did not receive it and ask her to resend. She became even more nasty and I have yet to receive the email. Not sure if anyone at that office is watching what the office staff is doing (or not doing), but they should be. I was told that my blood pressure was high. I explained that the assistant did not take my blood pressure correctly and that's why she got a high reading. I left their facility and had my blood pressure checked and it was perfect. I had questions regarding a Prolia shot and was told to research it myself to find the answers - this practice is CLUELESS!!! So can someone tell me just what the heck their job is... After dealing with their staff I became so upset that we are currently looking for a real medical practice. You know, one that answers the phone, is competent, doesn't lie, answers medical questions and knows how to take blood pressure. read more

The office will never answer your phone call to speak, make appointments, questions, etc. They literally never answer the phone and if they do it take 12 hours for them to call you back (that's if they even call you). I love the doctors but I'm really tired of having to deal with this. read more

I would give them a zero if I could. New in town and found this place out of desperation. Was assigned to NP, Allison. No eye contact, impersonal, and the incompetence from her and her assistants was unbelievable from beginning to end! And, I only had one appt! Calling in my medications to 2 different stores, made me come back a second time because it appears they may have spilled a urine specimen etc.... there were numerous staff in the back but no one in the waiting room. Seems they have plenty of time to get it right but apparently they can't! Might be good for medicare but if you have good insurance don't go there....then, after they saw my review, they overnighted a certified letter indicating, they would no longer provide care to me. Like tit for tat. What supports my review about incompetence: in that certified letter Dr. Long says she has enclosed a release of information form for me to sign and send back for my future doctor. Guess what? No release of information. I rest my case! Going to Ponte Verde Beach area to find a nice office and competent staff and professionals. Sorry Dr. Long! read more

The doctors are Great. Really they are, especially Dr Thor who is professional and kind. However the office has one sour point Their office manager Becky is a pill to deal with. She seems to have no customer service qualifications and wanted to pick a fight more than answer questions. Not what you want to deal with when feeling ill. When trying to make an appointment "Becky", if indeed her real name. felt the need to try to pick a fight with me about things not related to simple appointment setting. She was accusatory about my tone (I was sick after all) and just down right rude. I asked if I would have to wait long at my appointment time to be seen, as I had in the past. She did not answer and when I asked a second time she barked at me, "Do you want the appointment or not?" I said of course I did but persisted asking her now, why she was refusing to answer my first question. Then came the recriminations and accusations and threats. I told her I understood if she had no formal training in customer service but a simple answer to the best of her ability or even a simple "I don't know" would have done the job. She then told me to call back if I wanted the appointment, which I again repeated that I wanted, but she said call back later and hung up.on me. (I think she may have been a bill collector in a previous job, no couth whatsoever). She either needs to get some proper training or she should be let go. No compassion and no care in an office manager is a bad thing when the doctors are so nice. Amazingly bad office manager when everyone else seems so nice. I have spoken to Dr Thor (edit: or someone claiming to be her who called me back) and at least the doctors are now aware of her egregious behavior. I see there have been other complaints about rude office staff before, I guess they just want to ignore the problem. EDIT: Dr Long's reply below is full of inaccuracies, which I have responded to privately. Since this was all done by phone, he could not have witnessed anything personally, though he probably listened to the recording I left. Left 1 message trying to get appointment wherein I complained there was no option for a current patient to press to set an appointment. Spoke with Becky 1 x and left 1 ranting message after that... I guess 2 calls from me is "multiple times" that couldn't have lasted more that 10 minute all told. I get it, he is taking it personally instead of dealing with the problem. I react just as poorly to bad customer service whether by a man or a woman. So trying to label me a bully or abuser of women just does not fly. I wonder now as I did on the 2nd message, did your presidential candidate not win? Shouldn't take it out on me. I am glad they think their manger is so efficient! That does not mean she is good at dealing with people. Was I having a bad day, you bet. Was she also having a bad day? Probably, but a professional is not supposed to show it. Goes back to customer service training or lack thereof. This practice is, by far, THE MOST unprofessional establishment I have ever had the displeasure of entering. First off, no one was wearing masks during this virus (at a doctor's office, really!?) Secondly, they have a COMPLETE disregard for the Hippocratic oath. The person who saw me refused to help me WITHOUT EVEN SPEAKING TO ME. They did not recommend someone else to go see, did not recommend another course of action, simply refused to write me a prescription for my diagnosed condition, for which I brought medical records. When asked why, they claimed it was against their policy, but when I referred to the forms they had me fill out relating to my condition, and mentioned that I was referred there by someone else with the same condition, they changed their story about why they refused to do their job. I just saw Dr. Thor for the first time and was thrilled. It's a bit of a drive for me, but I will gladly travel for a good Dr. and she is great. I know I'm a bit overweight, I know I don't eat healthy enough, and this has kept me from going to the doctor. I don't want to be judged and lectured! But Dr. Thor didn't judge. Even though the office was busy (it's a popular place from the looks of things), she took plenty of time to talk to me, go over my complaints and try to find the reason for my issues. Our daughters, ages 15 & 20, are already patients of Crescent Beach Care, so I decided to establish myself as a patient as well. We're a very healthy family, rarely need medical care, but good to have a doc if/when we do. Both Dr. Thor and Dr. Long have been exceptional in providing care to our family. They listen more than talk and do not rush a visit... rare these days. Then I got to meet Dr. Thor who is a female doctor and has all the qualities you want in a doctor. She is compassionate, a good listener , etc. they got me help right away.. While on vacation in St. Augustine My wife had an upper respiratory infection and needed a doctor. I did a Google search for an urgent care and looked at the reviews. We chose Crescent Beach Care based on the reviews here and elsewhere. We were not disappointed. My wife saw Dr. Thor, who was very personable, talked with my wife about her symptoms, did a thorough exam to help resolve her illness. It is great to find a good doctor away from home. Horrible. If there was a zero I'd use it. I came to get bloodwork, fasting at 10:30 in the morning. For some reason I had a $11 dollar balance. I questioned the balance from my deductible which I new was not true, told the receptionist I was very sick from fasting and needed to get done with bloodwork ASAP so I could get something to eat. She said she had to check with billing. Fine. Turns out it was something to do with the last office visit. Crying, sick I paid the $11. Sat down and four other patients spoke up to try to make me feel better saying this office and most other doctors treat their patients like this because quality patient care has gone out the window, I didn't say one word, I was crying and sick waiting to go back. When she called me back I thanked the wonderful patients in the lobby, when I got behind the door , THE OFFICE MANAGER TOLD ME TO GET OUT BECAUSE I SAID THANK YOU TO THE OTHER PATIENTS!! Really?! The patients were the ones with Watching this entire scene and spoke up and helped me more than that office staff did. DONT GO HERE!!!!! read more

When I first went there I love Dr. Thor's PA. She was kind and took her time to go over my medical history. The problem started when I went to get my prescriptions filled. The pharmacist informed me they no longer can get the medicine the Dr. Prescribe. So I called Publics to see if they could get it. I read them the name of the medicine that I have been taking for years for my migraines and they said no problem they could still get it and to have the Dr. send it there. After receiving my prescription, Publics Pharmacist called me directly and said that the reason they couldn't get it was the Dr.'s office was calling in the wrong drug. The drug they called in was a Heavy sedative and had I taken it and drove I could have killed myself. I had to call the office 4 more times to finally make them understand they were calling in the wrong drug. No one there understood or cared that this was happening. So then they called my prescriptions in to the wrong pharmacy, I literally had to call the office 10 times and today it still went to the wrong pharmacy so I went to the office to try and straighten it out. The girl up front was wonderful and was going to help me when I was met by a very very very Rude office manager. I told her I now understood why the office was run the way it is. She is really a rude person! BUT after trying to get someone to help me I was very upset. I was approach by Dr. Long who announced. " I OWN THIS PLACE AND THER IS THE DOOR" I AM SERIOUS HE LITERALLY KICKED ME OUT INSTEAD OF HELPING ME. I would think that a Dr that saw a patient so upset would take them aside and ask them what the problem was. But he was so mad that I had the nerve to say their office did something wrong, he kicked me OUT! I was literally crying and shaking, I could not believe what just happened. What a HORRIBLE human being he is not let alone a Doctor. read more
