Came in for Breakfast, Codfish and Tostones , morning breakfast for champions! Order take out over the phone. It was pippin hot when I got there. It felt like home. The women who took my order over the phone was sweet and courteous and made me feel like I was an old friend.

We me the owner and she was super nice and gave us some drink recs! We ended the night with vibessss as it was Lounge Weekends and there was a DJ and drink specials [$4 rum punches , $5 LITs ] Danced to rhythms all night !

It's great here ! The energy is always nice. I just wish I could get more oxtails so that's frustrating for me. it feels like they be rationing. We would also love more gravy on our plate for the rice and peas.

The food was good but not what I'm used to. Ordered the oxtails and stew chicken. Both came in a thick reddish brown soft. Not quite bbq but not Caribbean either. The large size was not that much bigger than the small size. The jerk chicken patty was extra light. The cocoa bread tasted like a plain roll. The cabbage was bland. Service was great! Food came out quick too. Food wasn't bad, just not traditional Caribbean flavors.

I wanted some ackee and saltfish, so I decided to stop by and get some after my trader joes run. I ordered the ackee and saltfish with boiled yam, boiled banana, boiled dumplings, and a fried dumpling (the fried dumpling was fire). It's not the best that I've had, but I'm from Miami, so comparing food from the south to the food here isn't fair. But the food at island cuisine is solid. The new location is clean, with a bigger bar area. I always tell myself I should stop in for some drinks and just never made my way to it. The service like the food is inconsistent, but not bad. You just get the bare minimum. All things considered when the food is good it's really good. This is the only Jamaican restaurant I'll ever go to here in Charlotte!

The cabbage, bean and rice went well with the red snapper. I will return to this location.

The service, and food was delicious. We were welcomed and seated ourselves. I had the red snapper, beans and rice, and cabbage. My friend had oxtails, and curry goat. I tasted his and it too was delicious. This is my first time here and will recommend to future potential visitors. The building is spacious.

My family dined here the day after Thanksgiving. It was a great choice because it wasn't too busy and the food and service were on point. I enjoyed my curry chicken and we shared some extra sides of macaroni and cheese and fried okra. The drinks were also delicious and well presented. I highly recommend the Island Rum Punch! The reggae playing in the background was the final touch to our island escape. Don't miss the case full of island sodas!

Curry chicken with cabbage and curry infused spinach. (Small portion)

This place is a jewel! Very friendly staff and a clean environment. The ambiance inside is that of the Caribbean culture with Reggae music often playing in the background. As for the food? I always get the curry chicken but have he'd their jerk chicken which is also marvelous! The cabbage has great flavor but the hidden gem many do not know about if their spinach which is cooked in a curry base. Wow! You have a choice of a smaller portion if you desire but their prices are very reasonable. They're even better when they have their lunch specials going. Stop in and treat yourself! I'm going to try their oxtail at some point.

Jerk chicken, oxtail, plantains, rice and peas and spinach

I'm a Caribbean food connoisseur so I KNOW good food. This here was *chefs kiss* It was so good I forgot to take a picture when I opened my plate. I had to hurry and grab my phone halfway through and give props where they're due! Amazing, amazing, amazing. I will be returning!

I went for the first time and it's definitely a MUST GO BACK restaurant. The food was so authentic and very flavorful and amazing. The chef was definitely Cheffing and the ambience was a vibe!

I was so looking forward to this meal! I ordered thru Uber eats and am HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED! I ordered a LARGE OXTAIL, rice and beans and cabbage. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY this is a LARGE. Based on the pictures, I was cheated regarding my portion. As for taste, there is some flavor but the oxtails are a bit tough and could have been cooked longer. I AM AN OXTAIL FEEN!!! Places like this, make me very hesitant to support and try. UGH! I'll just stick to my other spot!

Hole in the wall vibe, good energy and surprisingly good customer service. This was my 1st time here and I wanted to try the oxtail and goat. The goat was seasoned to perfection.. the beef patty was my least favorite. The Oxtail was just ok. it was a little sweet for my tasted but it was tender. I paid $44 dollars including the tip for what you see here. I'll be back to try the jerk chicken and red snapper

Very nice environment. You can tell the owner really loves this place…read more The waitstaff were attentive and very professional. They had that ability to show up exactly when needed, and not a moment before. The food presentation was wonderful. The food was very tasty. I had the Jerk Chicken. It was a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. The only issue I had, and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars, was with the chicken itself. Whoever had broken down the chicken had chopped through the bones, leaving shards of bone in every bite. It was a bit difficult having to pull bits of bone out of every bite. I've had plenty of Jerk Chicken in my life, and this was my only experience like this. I'll probably go back, but I doubt I'll order anything that might have bones. The tofu looked good.

The curry goat had lots of big bones and the meat could have been cooked a little longer. The cowfoot soup was pretty good and tasty but it did not have any meat. It had dumplings and vegetables. The waitress/bartender could have been a little more welcoming and interacting; especially since there was only two women at the bar eating. The waitress was dry the entire experience. The ambience was nothing special. You can eat at the bar or in the dining are. They had a few jamaican pictures hanging up. I think I am a one and done with this experience

I will start by saying that this place is now serving dog food. The food was absolutely disgusting…read more- everything was hard, dry, and burnt, including the cake! Absolutely zero "F's" were given in the food preparation. The textures were appalling, as if the food had been scorched and then left out for hours before serving. The only remotely edible thing was the cold, burnt plantains, but even those were barely tolerable. I kept biting into gritty bits that I couldn't even identify as food, which made me seriously question the safety of what I was eating. If I had access to a lab, I would submit it to see what I'd [really] been served. I ended up throwing my entire meal in the garbage. To top it off, they've changed the name of the place, which just raises even more red flags. I can't help but wonder why they felt the need to do that. It's a waste of money, time, hope and food to ever go here. They disrespected the life of the poor chicken who died for this wretched soot seasoned, curry chicken slop. If my husband or anyone suggested this place I would seriously consider throwing hands. It doesn't matter what they are calling it now. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this place.

Since moving to the Carolina's from up North I wasn't sure what to expect. I've have both dined in as well as carry out and the experience is always pleasant. I've had a few things from the menu but my favorite is the oxtail roti; It's a bit costly but well worth it as the meat is super tender, flavorful and the roti is pack full of meat. I also love the rice/ peas with the brown gravy and drinks are always phenomenal I've learned depending on the time of day you may be waiting for a bit but it's well worth it as everything is fresh, hot and made to order. The service/staff very friendly and helpful when it comes to ordering. The ambiance is upbeat, very clean and vibrant I wish I got a picture of my meal but somehow never makes it because it's that delicious

The cashier was sweet and personable. She was multitasking, but still managed to be fully engaged in the service she provided to us. She kindly let us know what items were sold out for the day and also gave us time to look over the menu and decide on our order without making us feel rushed. While we waited for our food to arrive, we noticed a steady flow of customers all the way until closing time! It's clear Island Grill & Pub is a local favorite. The food is packaged up to go, but there are plenty of tables to dine-in once you have your food...and a big screen with movies and Jamaican music playing in the background to keep you entertained. The wait for the food is a bit long...but EVERYTHING came out very fresh, very authentic, and worth the wait. The portions were plentiful, the food was flavorful and seasoned well, and the items were priced well for the value. What we ordered: - Small Jerk Chicken plate with rice & peas and cabbage - Jerk Chicken pasta - Side order of Macaroni and cheese We wish we lived closer, so we could visit Island Grill & Pub regularly, but it's definitely on our list any time we travel to the Rock Hill area!
