They had that ability to show up exactly when needed, and not a moment before. The food presentation was wonderful. The food was very tasty. I had the Jerk Chicken. It was a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. The only issue I had, and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars, was with the chicken itself. Whoever had broken down the chicken had chopped through the bones, leaving shards of bone in every bite. It was a bit difficult having to pull bits of bone out of every bite. The curry goat had lots of big bones and the meat could have been cooked a little longer. The cowfoot soup was pretty good and tasty but it did not have any meat. It had dumplings and vegetables. The waitress/bartender could have been a little more welcoming and interacting; especially since there was only two women at the bar eating. The waitress was dry the entire experience. They recently located within the same parking lot due to the new Aldi's taking over one side at the Terraces at University Place. Came over to Caribbean Hut from Greensboro, NC for a friends birthday. The plan was to go to this spot. The night we went which was on Friday they had a DJ and he was pretty good. The music was there and the environment we loved! It was very well lit in there which I guess it needs to be because there is food served but I would have loved it if it was a bit dimmer. Also when we got there, their fire alarm was going off for a long time but they eventually got it handled, I'd say it took about 20 minutes or so. Me and my friends we all ordered food and drinks, the food took a little bit to come but as soon as I said, "dang where is the food" it came out, I think it's cooked fresh so that makes sense. The drink was okay but the food was amazing!!!!! I didn't get the memo about Carribean Hut relocating and renovating. On December 29 me, my sister, and best friend visited Carribean hut. The restaurant is located in the same parking lot that it was once in before the building was torn down but now they are in tbe strip mall that was behind it. The place really looks nice and sophisticated. They have a full bar area, ample seating, and the decor is amazing. I was totally shocked when I walked in. Originally, we were going to a different restaurant in that area. The service was fast and friendly. I ordered like a shrimp stir fry, my best friend had oxtails and my sister ordered chicken. Our drink orders were the Bob Marley for my wife and a spicy margarita created (on the fly) by the bartender with Scotch Bonnet peppers instead the classic jalapenos. It was excellent! I wanted some Jamaican food and decided to try some place different. I came to this location and ordered the usual Curry Chicken. Instead of cabbage, the lady informed me that they don't have cabbage but they have collard greens. It was a first for me, so I tried it anyway. Surprisingly, it was actually delicious! The service was fast and easy and I was super excited to have got a cream soda, which is delicious! It wasn't busy at all and the vibe was great! Once I received my order, I was shocked to see the collard greens had other veggies, such as peas, broccoli, squash, and cauliflower. It was actually better than cabbage! I have had roti as I'm from the East Coast but this by far was the worst Caribbean meal I have ever had. The service was also poor. The young girl behind the counter clearly did not want to be there and made that very clear. I expressed to the owner on my way out that the roti was subpar and asked if it was frozen. He told me that they ordered the roti from another location confirming my thoughts that it is not fresh. More than likely, they're ordering it in advance and freezing it. And its freezer burnt. First off,I don't want to complain on nobody business but right is right wrong is wrong.We ordered here today oxtails which is $32 for each plate. It was a to go order , however our oxtails were so tough it was definitely not Edible. I called back up to the restaurant a lady answered the phone and tells me that I should bring the oxtail plate back up there now mind you I stay 45 minutes away from this restaurant and that is a big inconvenience for me. Have to come back up there to bring this plate that's not edible of oxtails when they can go back there in the kitchen and taste one and see that they are tough and give me a credit for my next visit. Instead, she kept saying bring it back. Feeling disappointed my money wasn't free to me. I wanted what I paid for but didn't get it. Hope this post helps someone. read more

Their food is always flavorful. The service is quick I don't think I have waited more than 20min to get my meal. There is parking available. The prices aren't that expensive especially with the portion amount they give you. The food definitely taste homemade. When ever I want good authentic Caribbean food this is the place to go. I love this place and I normally get the large ox tail dinner. This time I order the steam fish with rice and peas and plantains. They gave me an option of two fishes and I picked the red snapper. I was given 3 plantains and had to ask for a side of plantains. I asked for a sauce to put on the rice they offered me a meat based sauce after I informed them I can't eat those items. I was given a sweet sauce that was disgusting honestly the entire plate was disgusting! I came here to get lunch with a friend since we were passing through Charlotte. I was hesitant because of the mixed reviews on here and I'm regretful that I didn't take heed. The food here is...okay. I'm from Florida and I've had pretty great Jamaican food and this just didn't impress me. The chicken was tender but it wasn't as flavorful as it looked. The rice was actually good but the cabbage wasn't. I had the chance to taste some of my friend's Jerk Shrimp and I wish I would've went with that because it was delicious. I ordered the large curry chicken which came with the rice n peas, cabbage and plantains. The serving size was pretty nice especially for the price. I think it was $10 for the large. I paid and decided to dine inside. The chicken was slamming, I had a bunch of sauce spread all over. The plantains I had were a little tough. But overall it was a good meal.
