Take a step into Jamaica!! I've eaten here several times!!! I'm always pleased with my selections & the service I receive! The food is always hot & fresh & the drinks are delicious! From the wings, to the shrimp to the curry goat or the king fish or red snapper...it's all so good! The bartenders know a thing or two about a drink! Just ask them to make you something & you will not be disappointed!! They also have a live dj on Friday nights playing some souls, soca, dancehall & reggae so if you're in the area make sure you go "Hol a Vibez"

Warm greeting on arrival is always appreciated. I love the decor in the location. They have been a staple in the community for the best of 20 years. They recently located within the same parking lot due to the new Aldi's taking over one side at the Terraces at University Place. The owners did a great revamp in a much larger space with flat screens tvs, graceful seating spaced out nicely and a huge bar. Bright floral arrangements and music to soothe you while enjoying some great Jamaican food. My order was to go and the bag had a stamp of locations and contact info. Smart advertisement The Curry goat roti was excellent. Well seasoned and hot. They do both online and in person. Enjoy

I recommend!! I love the new ambiance and decor! Service was great, attentive and food was hot! Best Jamaican food in Charlotte hands-down. Always great music. Excellent job on the renovations. I can't wait to return.

Came over to Caribbean Hut from Greensboro, NC for a friends birthday. The plan was to go to this spot. The night we went which was on Friday they had a DJ and he was pretty good. The music was there and the environment we loved! It was very well lit in there which I guess it needs to be because there is food served but I would have loved it if it was a bit dimmer. Also when we got there, their fire alarm was going off for a long time but they eventually got it handled, I'd say it took about 20 minutes or so. Me and my friends we all ordered food and drinks, the food took a little bit to come but as soon as I said, "dang where is the food" it came out, I think it's cooked fresh so that makes sense. The drink was okay but the food was amazing!!!!! Everyone liked their meal and I would definitely go back if I'm ever in Charlotte again, I got the curry goat with a side of rice and cabbage with plantains. Customer service was good too, seamless process and if we needed anything they were right there. Bathrooms were nice and clean as well.

I bought the goat curry roti, and I had three large bones no meat and barely any meat, but more curry. It's overly salty, and the roti isn't that good I should've went with the reviews but I decided to give this place a try. But nice restaurant ambience. But that's about it. And overly priced for sure for something with more curry than goat and large bones

The food, ambiance and service was so excellent. The flavor, and the texture of meal met great expectations.

Order jerk chicken and pepper steak. The chicken is dry and the pepper steak is tough over cooked.

I ordered the jerk chicken and pepper steak, and unfortunately both were dry and tough. The plantains were just okay. As someone who is Jamaican, I know what authentic flavor should taste like, and this missed the mark for me. I won't be returning.

    Grilled lobster tail so delicious

Overall, I enjoy my food and service. I enjoy the grilled lobster tail, butter shrimp and the red snapper entrees. Majority of the employees are spot on, know the menu and provide great service. There has only been one time that an employee told me certain items did not come with an entrée that I order on a regular basis, which was frustrating as it felt like I had to convince her to bring out what typically comes with my meal (rice, cabbage and plantains). I love that they have great food, music and a nice aesthetic..

I didn't get the memo about Carribean Hut relocating and renovating. On December 29 me, my sister, and best friend visited Carribean hut. The restaurant is located in the same parking lot that it was once in before the building was torn down but now they are in tbe strip mall that was behind it. The place really looks nice and sophisticated. They have a full bar area, ample seating, and the decor is amazing. I was totally shocked when I walked in. Originally, we were going to a different restaurant in that area. The service was fast and friendly. I ordered like a shrimp stir fry, my best friend had oxtails and my sister ordered chicken. The food was delicious. Definitely stop by for some good Jamaican food. Thanks Michelle & staff!

Jerk chicken with cabbage only. Also a custom spicy margarita with Scotch Bonnet peppers instead of jalapenos.

We visited this restaurant after the Niners' 1st win of the season. We were promptly seated and taken care of by Fendee for the evening. Our drink orders were the Bob Marley for my wife and a spicy margarita created (on the fly) by the bartender with Scotch Bonnet peppers instead the classic jalapenos. It was excellent! We order the oxtail, curried goat and jerk chicken entrees. Everything was good... No bone left untouched! We will definitely be back when we're on town again!

    Curry Chicken
    Jamaica K.

I wanted some Jamaican food and decided to try some place different. I came to this location and ordered the usual Curry Chicken. Instead of cabbage, the lady informed me that they don't have cabbage but they have collard greens. It was a first for me, so I tried it anyway. Surprisingly, it was actually delicious! The service was fast and easy and I was super excited to have got a cream soda, which is delicious! It wasn't busy at all and the vibe was great! Once I received my order, I was shocked to see the collard greens had other veggies, such as peas, broccoli, squash, and cauliflower. It was actually better than cabbage! I will definitely return in the future and recommend this spot to everyone!

Service and food was fast and fresh. Drinks were alittle watered but the food and service made up for it!

This review is overdue & a three-in-one. I was here on Friday, 01-13-23, Saturday, 02-11-23, and Saturday, 07-08-23. On Friday, I stopped by on a whim & decided to try the fish soup as it was cold outside. It was very good & filling. On Saturday, I had lunch with a friend & ordered butter shrimp; can't remember which drink I tried. In July, I'd been wanting to try their breakfast for a while. By the time I got there, only porridge was left. I'd just had wonderful Jamaican breakfast in Boston. I'll have to return on a Saturday to try everything else; the porridge was ok but not as good as what I had in Boston. My usual drink is the pineapple ginger. Not sure what the black item was inside my drink that time.

The jerk chicken ( not spicy sauce on side) and brown stew chicken is always great. Everything is always fresh whether you order dine in or carry out. Not really a fan of the plantains unless they are fresh most times they are dry. My three year old love the cabbage but today unfortunately the cabbage was raw I mean you can hear the crunch with every bite. But still flavorful I must add. I think online orders placed through (door dash/ Uber Eats) are portioned differently than in person orders but that's just my personal opinion. I will be ordering again soon the location is very close to my home.

GOAT was tender and I added a likkle pepper sauce to turn up the flavor even more. Fire !!! I should have gotten white rice but whatever the rice and peas was still good. Plantain were perfect and sweet. No hard. Not over ripe. Fried nice. The only thing I can say as a critique is to have some more D&G soda flavors. Cream soda and kola are my go to! The cook came out and watched me take my first taste. He was kind as well as all the other staff (IYKYK...attitude be wild at some West Indian spots lmao). Overall I was very pleased with the food and the folks!

Absolutely zero "F's" were given in the food preparation. The textures were appalling, as if the food had been scorched and then left out for hours before serving. The only remotely edible thing was the cold, burnt plantains, but even those were barely tolerable. I kept biting into gritty bits that I couldn't even identify as food, which made me seriously question the safety of what I was eating. If I had access to a lab, I would submit it to see what I'd [really] been served. I ended up throwing my entire meal in the garbage. To top it off, they've changed the name of the place, which just raises even more red flags. I can't help but wonder why they felt the need to do that. It's a waste of money, time, hope and food to ever go here. They disrespected the life of the poor chicken who died for this wretched soot seasoned, curry chicken slop. If my husband or anyone suggested this place I would seriously consider throwing hands. It doesn't matter what they are calling it now. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this place.

Since moving to the Carolina's from up North I wasn't sure what to expect. I've have both dined in as well as carry out and the experience is always pleasant. The cashier was sweet and personable. She was multitasking, but still managed to be fully engaged in the service she provided to us. She kindly let us know what items were sold out for the day and also gave us time to look over the menu and decide on our order without making us feel rushed. While we waited for our food to arrive, we noticed a steady flow of customers all the way until closing time! It's clear Island Grill & Pub is a local favorite. The food is packaged up to go, but there are plenty of tables to dine-in once you have your food...and a big screen with movies and Jamaican music playing in the background to keep you entertained. The wait for the food is a bit long...but EVERYTHING came out very fresh, very authentic, and worth the wait. The portions were plentiful, the food was flavorful and seasoned well, and the items were priced well for the value. What we ordered: - Small Jerk Chicken plate with rice & peas and cabbage - Jerk Chicken pasta - Side order of Macaroni and cheese We wish we lived closer, so we could visit Island Grill & Pub regularly, but it's definitely on our list any time we travel to the Rock Hill area!
