Oxtail Cheesesteak
Garland M.

Crav'n Caribbean is located inside the City Kitchen in Charlotte, NC which is a shared kitchen for takeout. I've been here many times and have tried different things. This place is very popular, so it does take a while to get your order as an FYI so order well ahead. My favorite thing to get here is the brown stew chicken with rice and peas. I did try their viral oxtail cheesesteak which was a little too salty for me. I will definitely be back to try the oxtail fried rice. They also have a food truck.

I've been following Crav'n Caribbean for years and finally made it to Charlotte to try! I ordered on the website for pickup which took about 20-25 minutes. The restaurant is located in a shared community kitchen. You have the option to order at the location or online. Once I arrived, it took about 15 minutes for to bring it out and it was piping hot! Got back home and was able to try everything. I had the oxtails, white rice, mac and cheese and collard greens. The amount of food they provide for the price is completely worth it. The oxtails have a bit of a kick to it which I loved, very tender and seasoned well. The mac and cheese was cheesy and the collard greens with turkey was "chefs kiss"! OMG it did not disappoint!! 10/10 - today recommend. Do yourself a favor and try if you are in the Charlotte/Greensboro area.

We ordered ahead for mobile pickup and everything was right on time -- hot, fresh, and perfectly packed to grab and go. Timing was chef's kiss. Once we got home and opened our plates, we noticed one little hiccup -- the mac & cheese we ordered didn't make it into the bag. Sad moment... because if it was anything like the rest of the food, I know it would've been amazing. Now for the good stuff: everything we did get was absolutely superb. The flavors were bold, rich, and full of that Caribbean punch that makes you do a little dance with every bite. Not too salty, super well-seasoned, and generous portions -- enough to feed multiple people or guarantee great leftovers (if you have the willpower to save any). Even with the missing side, I'm not even mad -- that's how good the food was. Just gives me an excuse to go back again soon and finally get my hands on that mac & cheese.

Would've preferred no peppers on the oxtail cheesesteak. I found them to take away from the oxtail flavor. Did enjoy the smoked collard greens better. They were cooked to absolute perfection. Ordered online to a ghost kitchen so there wasn't much interaction, however there was a window available for inquiries. Ambiance is family friendly.

Our city's tagline is true--Charlotte does indeed have a LOT. Amazing as our food scene is, what we don't have much of here is amazing Carribean food--in my humble, native New Yorker opinion--until now. Crav'n Caribbean checks all the boxes for me on what good Caribbean food should be--fresh, excellently spiced, and expertly prepared. What takes them over the top for me is their creativity. As someone who grew up surrounded by Caribbean cuisine, I can't say that I encountered the likes of jerk lamb chops, oxtail mac & cheese, or jerk salmon egg rolls--yet, I'm glad to know them now, lol! While my favorite combo so far is the oxtail fried rice w/jerk salmon bites--in all of it's perfectly prepared rice & beans loaded with tender, flavorful oxtail meat and accompanied by tasty crisp yet juicy salmon GLORY--I can also say that Crav'n Caribbean has not disappointed me yet. Run, don't walk, to check them out today!

One of my favorite spots in Charlotte so I had to review them again. Similar to my last visit, this was another great experience in terms of service. I placed the order upon arriving at the restaurant instead of in advance and then went next-door to Taco Azul for a couple of beers while I waited. My entrées were ready in about 20 minutes. I ordered the oxtail with oxtail fried rice and the jerk chicken with oxtail fried rice. Both were excellent as always! And something that I really appreciated about this spot. When my order came out, the owner asked that I check out each container to make sure it was to my satisfaction. That is usually something that takeout places don't encourage you to do, especially if they are passing on product that is not similar to what is displayed on their menu. Definitely not the case with Crav'n Caribbean. I highly recommend this place for anyone who is craving, (see what I did there?), West Indian food.

Curry Chicken egg roll

The food was really good!!! Service with a smile. The brown stew chicken was falling off the bone good. The oxtail Philly was so good. The curry chicken egg roll was amazing. I didn't like the wing only because they went crispy but I may have added too much sauces. Nothing the air fryer can't fix. I leave tomorrow to go back to isolation working and I am stopping here again to get some egg rolls. I can't wait!!!

Located in the City Kitchen along with a few other restaurants. This is not a place that you sit in and eat but order on an ipad and someone will come out of a door with your food when it's ready. Basically what we call a ghost kitchen. Me and a friend went on Juneteenth. A lot of the restaurants were closed but wanted to give them a try. My snapper was fried to perfection. I got bbq sauce and honey drizzled on it and man oh man, I need some more. I do appreciate that their yams weren't super sweet but just right and the plantains were sweet and cooked perfectly. I will definitely be coming back to place an order. My friend was amazed at the flavors from her jerk chicken and rice. It's def an order again and try something new. I'll def be back!!

Heard great review about this place. It's in a shared kitchen space. It took awhile to get our food but once we did we were not disappointed. They gave large portions and the food was hot and fresh. The oxtail cheesesteak was very flavorful, a little too salty for my liking 3.8/5. The salmon bites were good 5/5. Mac and cheese was tasteful 4.5/5. I'm going to try some of their other items!

Instagram bought me here lol. I couldn't wait to try this place and since I was in town I did. It's located in the city kitchen. You can place your order online or in person using the kiosk. Ordering was simple and the prices are slightly expensive. They will text you when your food is ready! Easy and simple. You get a lot of food! I literally shared this plate with an adult and had left overs. The food was hot and delicious l. I ordered the shrimp and oxtails. At first I didn't see the oxtails but once I started to eat I found them! They were shredded up and added to the rice!

Very nice environment. You can tell the owner really loves this place…read more The waitstaff were attentive and very professional. They had that ability to show up exactly when needed, and not a moment before. The food presentation was wonderful. The food was very tasty. I had the Jerk Chicken. It was a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. The only issue I had, and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars, was with the chicken itself. Whoever had broken down the chicken had chopped through the bones, leaving shards of bone in every bite. It was a bit difficult having to pull bits of bone out of every bite. I've had plenty of Jerk Chicken in my life, and this was my only experience like this. I'll probably go back, but I doubt I'll order anything that might have bones. The tofu looked good.

The curry goat had lots of big bones and the meat could have been cooked a little longer. The cowfoot soup was pretty good and tasty but it did not have any meat. It had dumplings and vegetables. The waitress/bartender could have been a little more welcoming and interacting; especially since there was only two women at the bar eating. The waitress was dry the entire experience. The ambience was nothing special. You can eat at the bar or in the dining are. They had a few jamaican pictures hanging up. I think I am a one and done with this experience

I will start by saying that this place is now serving dog food. The food was absolutely disgusting…read more- everything was hard, dry, and burnt, including the cake! Absolutely zero "F's" were given in the food preparation. The textures were appalling, as if the food had been scorched and then left out for hours before serving. The only remotely edible thing was the cold, burnt plantains, but even those were barely tolerable. I kept biting into gritty bits that I couldn't even identify as food, which made me seriously question the safety of what I was eating. If I had access to a lab, I would submit it to see what I'd [really] been served. I ended up throwing my entire meal in the garbage. To top it off, they've changed the name of the place, which just raises even more red flags. I can't help but wonder why they felt the need to do that. It's a waste of money, time, hope and food to ever go here. They disrespected the life of the poor chicken who died for this wretched soot seasoned, curry chicken slop. If my husband or anyone suggested this place I would seriously consider throwing hands. It doesn't matter what they are calling it now. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this place.

Since moving to the Carolina's from up North I wasn't sure what to expect. I've have both dined in as well as carry out and the experience is always pleasant. I've had a few things from the menu but my favorite is the oxtail roti; It's a bit costly but well worth it as the meat is super tender, flavorful and the roti is pack full of meat. I also love the rice/ peas with the brown gravy and drinks are always phenomenal I've learned depending on the time of day you may be waiting for a bit but it's well worth it as everything is fresh, hot and made to order. The service/staff very friendly and helpful when it comes to ordering. The cashier was sweet and personable. She was multitasking, but still managed to be fully engaged in the service she provided to us. She kindly let us know what items were sold out for the day and also gave us time to look over the menu and decide on our order without making us feel rushed. While we waited for our food to arrive, we noticed a steady flow of customers all the way until closing time! It's clear Island Grill & Pub is a local favorite. The food is packaged up to go, but there are plenty of tables to dine-in once you have your food...and a big screen with movies and Jamaican music playing in the background to keep you entertained. The wait for the food is a bit long...but EVERYTHING came out very fresh, very authentic, and worth the wait. The portions were plentiful, the food was flavorful and seasoned well, and the items were priced well for the value. What we ordered: - Small Jerk Chicken plate with rice & peas and cabbage - Jerk Chicken pasta - Side order of Macaroni and cheese We wish we lived closer, so we could visit Island Grill & Pub regularly, but it's definitely on our list any time we travel to the Rock Hill area!
