I asked for a shrimp roti with cabbage, rice and shrimp and was told the roti only comes with shrimp. Ok thought it was weird so still purchased it and asked for a side of rice and peas and cabbage. I get home and realize there's cabbage in the roll (bcs it's not a roti)! I ask can I get my money back for the side order of cabbage and was told no bcs I left the store! So bcs the woman misunderstands me, over charges me for something that already comes with what I ordered AND takes my fifty bucks (which included 4 cold coco bread), I can't get my money back, theres 6 shrimps IF that and it's not even a roti they served the shrimp and cabbage in. Since I'm at fault bcs I don't stay in the store and double check their food, I lose! They had the option of curry chicken or jerk for todays lunch options. There is an upcharge for Mac instead of cabbage but I was okay with it. The portion sizes especially for a small were plenty. While the jerk chicken was good, I found the sauce to be a little more on the sweeter bbq side than jerk side. Then the Mac had a nice layer of bake chrese on top. However once you got to the core, it was a let down giving me Krafts Mac and cheese vibes. But overall, the plate was great especially for a lunch special. This was honestly the worst customer service I've ever experienced, and here's why: I showed up at the place around 8:45pm. Two women were chatting at the counter. The cashier didn't bother to say hi or look at me to acknowledge my presence. Knowing it was late, I figured I'd ask, "Do you still have the oxtail and curry goat combo?" The cashier completely ignored me. I then asked, "Is that a yes or no?" The other woman glanced at me and said, "She's helping me." while shaking her head. That's when I realized she was a customer. So I said, "Oh, sorry." and to the cashier "A simple greeting would have been nice." The customer rolled her eyes at me, and the cashier shot me a dirty look. When I finally got to place my order, the cashier muttered something about rice, beans, and peas. I couldn't catch it, so I just said, "Sure." But she asked again, and I still couldn't get what she was saying. So I just said with rice and beans. When it was time to pay, she mumbled, "Cash or charge?" I had my card in hand, so I showed it and said, "Charge." Then she goes, "Cash or card?" with this annoyed look. The customer woman then rolled her eyes again while shaking her head. Hey y'all! Just a note to those that may plan to go to Caribbean Hut on Woodlawn in Charlotte (moved from 7th St). They have raised their prices tremendously, but menus do not reflect increase. I ordered the Curry Goat / Chicken combo, posted on the menu at $18.50, but was charged $28.50. I originally paid, thinking maybe I was looking at an old menu, then saw that all posted menus showed the $18.50 price for this dish. That is false advertising!!! When I requested a refund to my card, the cashier called the manager who claimed he did not know how to process refunds and had to call his manager. Bottom line, I had to wait another 15-mins for him to serve customers, make the call and finally give me a cash refund. Also, how dare y'all increase this dish from $18.50 to $28.50. I get it, Covid was rough on all of us and food prices have gone up, but price increases have not been this drastic. You cannot expect your customers to pay for what you did not make during the pandemic. Shame, shame, shame on you! Oh, and by the way, it's not just me. I got the curry chicken that came with yellow rice and plantains. Chicken was great - delicious, nice warm spiciness, and super tender Rice was good-flavored but a bit dry. The same applies to the plantains, which had a nice sweetness but seemed like they'd been dried out a bit, making them chewier than I expected. It was delicious, the shrimp could've had a little more spice but they had a great hot sauce in the fridge and it hooked it up. This place is close to hotels and had a steady flow of customers eating in and taking out. It seemed to me I heard oxtails being ordered here the most. I guess I have to give it a try.
