Has the usual ice cream flavors. One unique flavor that most ice cream places do not have is a vegan one. My friend that is vegan liked it. I have tried the good 'ol fashioned mint and chip and the root beer float with vanilla ice cream (I will probably step out of my comfort zone next time). The mint and chip is like any other fresh ice cream place, but they give you an optional free waffle bit (in following picture). The root beer float is a bit pricey, but their business tactic is that they will give you a fancy bottle of root beer. The bottle is half full/empty when the dessert is served, so you are able to "refill" your root beer float with more root beer. This place also has a reward system where you can get a free single scoop after buying 9 ice cream products (they can be any product). The environment is very colorful (green) and has nice tables and chairs to sit down and talk with friends. I crossed the Bay specifically to try this ice cream and it was possibly the best I have ever had. So creamy, with incredibly pure flavors from real ingredients. Decadent and divine. Absolutely worth the wait. I had a combo of vanilla bean, marzipan, and dark chocolate, and highly recommend that trifecta. The marzipan in particular was transcendent - not overly sweet and actually refreshing. Waffle cone is a must. After dinner at Zachary's Chicago Pizza, we headed a block down to iScream ("ice cream") for dessert. I was feeling nostalgic for childhood comfort food, so I went with my old favorite: cookies and cream. iScream apparently only serves double scoops or ice cream sundaes. I noticed that other customers who ordered ice cream in a cup also got a slice of the waffle cone... a nice touch! The inside walls were bare, matching the mood of the black/white tile floor and black chairs/tables. (The yellow orchids on the tables were a weird addition.) Surprise! Whoever thought I would be awed by a local ice cream shop, especially if it's on that mess they call Solano. Fret not though you can take Marin up and still get to the shop just fine, without all the idiots jumping out and the people driving at 5 miles per hour. That was completely unrelated, but the shop is relatively small, located next to the mechanics bank, and after being nagged by my sisters multiple times, I gave in and went with them to this shop. No parking lot, first of all, but there's street parking... sometimes. And no I live on the bottom of Solano more or less, I'm not going to walk up even if Bill Gates was handing out 500 dollars per person. I'd drive up :D Usually the line is out the door since there are many kids and adults who bring their kids that don't know what they want so it takes all of eternity to get up to the freezer thing and ask for your scoop, or two. Oh my god, have I turned that bitter? Just remember, be patient. The ice cream from the establishment is actually pretty bomb digity.Its very rich and creamy, and none of that powdery crap you taste from cheap ice creams. I've tried multiple flavors and it is amazing. I think the one I prefer the most is the blueberry, then strawberry. NOT THE SORBET one. Although I have yet to try the sorbet one. They have several other flavors, like Mexican chocolate, burnt caramel, toffee, hibiscus berry... I think, and several others. They also have toppings for those who enjoy toppings on their ice cream. Sadly I may be too cheap to add toppings... Waffle cone is fresh, they have a waffle cone maker thing in the back that you can see. And sometimes you can see them making the waffle cones also! I remember reading somewhere also they use the stratus farm organic milk to make the ice cream. The ice cream was not icy at all but not so creamy that you feel like you are drinking whole milk. There was a distinct taste in both of the flavors that I ordered. IScream is a fairly simple place. You get your 1-2 scoops in a waffle cone, and there's nothing else you need for those 30 min you sit there enjoying it. They're very kind and let you sample as much as you want. I got a waffle cone with blueberry and cookies & cream. Both are very creamy and delicious. The cookies & cream felt like it was made a couple of hours earlier, with the cookies still pretty crunchy and full of their original flavor. The blueberry taste wasn't as strong as I expected it, but was still pretty damn good. The waffle cone is thick, unlike the typical skinny sugar filled ones you get anywhere else. This is a small store front and we actually drove by it twice before looking up the address again on Yelp and finding it. The owner and assistants were friendly and inviting. As soon as you walk in, your olfactory glands are assaulted by the sweet aroma of fresh waffle cones being created. This place is tiny so the ice cream selection is small but they cover the basics. You get a choice of cup or waffle cone (for additional fee). We got a single ginger and a double coffee and stood and chatted with the owner while her assistants performed end-of-day clean up procedures. The ice cream was creamy without being overly sweet. My favorite is Ginger, which is a seasonal cult favorite that is extra spicy from the ginger they fresh juice in store. Also highly recommend the Chai Tea, which also is very strong and spicy. I got a single scoop of the Coconut Lemon. The texture was more like a sorbet & it was not too sweet. There was just enough lemon so I could taste the flavor without being overwhelmed by it. The waffle cone was substantial without feeling very heavy. All the ice cream is made on site & the woman there was very nice. $3.75 for a single in waffle cone seems pricey to me but I don't buy ice cream that often at all. Went to a performance at Zellerbach Hall with my 10 year old grandson, who had me commit to ice cream if he behaved during the performance. He did his part so where to go? I had the Creme Brulee and he had an Oreo Sundae with Oreo topping and Chocolate Sauce. If you are thinking this kid loves Chocolate you'd be right. The ice cream was creamy, the ingredients high quality and fresh, and the price was very reasonable. The inside seating is closed but there were a few tables outside, and it made people watching of folks strolling down Solano an extra bonus. We topped off the day with a trip to Pegasus Book Store up the street for the end of a perfect day. Alan had a medical procedure this afternoon which required that he not eat all day and not have anything but apple juice or water after 11:00. Once the procedure was done and we got the results (good news) he was ready for something to eat. He has to be on a soft diet for a couple of days. In the past when he's had this procedure we've gone to Baskin-Robbins for him to get a milkshake, but Nina brought him a milkshake from iScream during one of his skilled nursing stays and there was no going back. The single scoops are now $4.25 and the fresh baked cones are $1. Both prices seemed reasonable to me. That's what premium ice cream costs and they make their own onsite. Alan tasted a chocolate almond ice cream, then combined oreo cookie, dark chocolate and chocolate malt into his milkshake, which cost $9. I had no doubt what I wanted, a single scoop of dark chocolate. I briefly considered a double and decided against it, a good decision, because the single scoop was so generous. I had a cone rather than a cup, because the smell of the waffle cones baking is always so enticing. The young woman working behind the counter was friendly and hardworking. A steady stream of people, families, groups of students, etc came in before and after us. We both were very pleased w/ what we had. The cone broke, but she caught the scoop with her shirt, turned her back to the counter and proceeded to place the ice cream from her shirt on a new cone. I don't think the customer saw this. The employee handed the customer the cone. The customer asked, 'Is everything alright?' The employee smiled and said 'The cone broke, but it still tastes good!' It was my first time here so I wanted to try a couple of the flavors before I selected an ice cream. There were 2 workers behind the counter and neither of them greeted us or acknowledged that we were even waiting at the counter. One of them finally asked us if we'd like some help after we just stood there staring at the ice cream for about 5-10 minutes. I asked to sample a flavor and was given a small spoonful then completely abandoned at the counter again. When I finally caught the attention of the person who had initially helped me and began placing my order, I was rudely cut off by his coworker who said that he had to go do more important things in the back and that he'd come back to help me when all the tasks were finished. At this point, there were 5 patrons waiting at the counter. The employee who cut me off had her back turned to the customers and continued making a milkshake even though there was a customer trying to flag her down for napkins/utensils. I essentially had to stand around for another 10 minutes until the other employee returned from the back and got me some ice cream. Frankly, I would have given this place a 4-5 star rating if it hadn't been for the extremely subpar service. The employees were slow, ignored me for the most part, and were undeniably rude when they did address me. I doubt I will return to this ice cream shop in the future. I do have to give the ice cream and waffle cones some credit. The coffee ice cream that I ordered was pretty good. Solid coffee flavor, not too sweet and not too bitter.
