Great lox bagel and solid customer service. Highly recommend. I had mine on the everything bagel.

More like 3.5 or 3.75 stars. Hands down the best textured bagel available in the area. For once, here's an NC bagel that is not a squishy roll with a hole in the middle. Coatings are abundant. Also, the ability to pre-order is very convenient. On the downside, the taste of the bagel itself is somewhat flat. If you pile your bagel with strongly flavored cheese or fish you may not notice it so much. Otherwise, you definitely will. Garlic bagels are not an option, which I find disappointing. The mix on the everything bagel is very seed-heavy and could really use more salt, onion, and garlic. Oh, and prices are high. All in all, a pretty decent option. read more

I'm a native New Yorker, grew up with a baker's dozen of bagels bought every week by my dad from the local bagel shop. They came in a brown paper bag and they were divine. I'm a bagel snob. I can sniff out an imposter NY bagel in a second. That being said Issac's bagels is the real deal. It doesn't get any better than Isaac's bagels in the whole state of North Carolina. It's a little hard to find as there are no signs outside to point you to it. But there's a big window where you can see the yellow counter in the picture that tells you you've reached the right place. They have everything from single bagels or bagel sandwiches. I tried their lox sandwich with a poppyseed bagel and they complemented each other so well. read more

i love this place so much!!! it really reminds me of this bagel shop i went to in NYC called apollo bagels! the menu options are so good and i can tell the bagels are quality and really well made. ALSO the coffee is really really good!!! my lattes i get there are always amazing and not over extracted. overall i think this is one of the best if not the best bagel joint around this area and i really recommend it to anyone :) read more

Good food and coffee, but bad systems. Please add an option where we can ask you to go ahead and make our drinks on online orders. I don't care if my latte is a bit cold. I do care about waiting 10 minutes past my pick-up time in a tiny, crowded space while my three-year-old is losing his mind and I'm pretty sure the other customers don't love it either. read more

Isaac's was an absolute Godsend for my husband and I when we were down here visiting my mother-in-law during her stay at Duke hospital (which is four minutes away). Isaac's was the one meal we looked forward to everyday, and I tried almost everything! A. Their salt and pepper bagel is fabulous with just about anything. B. The lox and the avocado were my two top picks. Particularly on the S&P bagel. C. They had bialy there, which we really only ever see up north. So good! D. Do yourself a favor and get one of their lattes. Excellent espresso and the homemade caramel syrup was a nice rich touch. Incredibly good bagels and lox and cream cheese. The chili cream cheese and dill scallion cream cheese both pleased everyone. You can't order by phone but they were super nice about it when their website wouldn't take my order--they put it together so it was ready for my family member to pay for when she got there. It was just...okay. I'm a NY bagel connoisseur so I appreciate a good chew. However, the garlic on my everything bagel was burnt in places, which 1) makes the bagel texture dry and near impossible to chew and 2) added an incredibly bitter taste to half my bagel. In addition, I just wanted white milk (not chocolate milk) to drink. The woman at the front register happily keyed in my request, but then the employee next to her measured out exactly 8 ounces of milk into a cup. It looked pathetic as it wasn't even half full. Even more pathetic was that I was charged $2 for that. Had I known, I would've just driven home for a drink, as the amount they gave me was not nearly enough to cover the dry, burnt bagel. Cream cheese was okay; nothing to write home about. Bagel selection is limited. Nowhere to sit, which I knew going in. The employees were all very friendly. It's cheaper than Brandwein's and tastes more like a NY bagel. However, the execution was pretty bad. And at $17 for two burnt bagels, I don't think I'll be back. Glad I didn't waste my money by buying bagels to go in advance. I really wanted to like this place! It seems like they do a good business by how busy they were, but I don't "get it" unless they had a REALLY off day. I'm just going to conclude that North Carolina still doesn't know what a good NY bagel is. read more

This lox bagel was absolutely delicious! The toppings on the lox bagel truly made it special. Unfortunately with all of those toppings I couldn't really tell how the bagels are but, I am definitely ready to come back and try them again! Great spot in Durham! Rarely, do I say I'm the expert on anything and everyone's opinion does not matter. Today is different! (Ok, well others matter but mine is top right now) As a Proud Jersey girl I know good bagels, so I was so excited when I heard that Issac's was the truth. I was a little nervous too because I don't trust people with my bagels and pizza. Well I am here to tell you it is! The Truth, that is! I arrived early in case there was a line but lucky for me there was not. However, several people stopped by to pick up the goods. I saw people getting just one and some getting bags full. The bagels are put in a brown paper bag (the only way to do it). I headed to the window to put in my order, I had already checked it out on Instagram so I was ready. In my family we are bagel purest and I picked up a half dozen of bagels trying everything but plain because while plain is nice it's basic! The bagels were everything a good bagel should be, soft, chewy on the inside, a nice crunch on outside, perfectly sized, with a nice lovely flavor. Today I tried Isaac's Bagels for the first time at Queeny's. I have been following them on Insta for a while and was glad to finally be able to check them out. These bagels are THICCC. I love the generous amount of cream cheese they put on every bagel. I tried the everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. Savory heaven. The bagels are a little tough when you bite them so with the one I got I had seeds everywhere so maybe don't get that kind on a first date. Luckily was just with my dog so he didn't judge me. I'm excited to try their other bagels soon! I also hope they bring the cold brew back for spring because cold brew and bagels are my fave combo. read more

My husband and I are brats about bagels after a lot of time in NY, and these scratch a real itch. We haven't had another bagel in the triangle that we've liked as much, so we were thrilled when Isaac's opened their brick and mortar. Everything we've tried so far has been excellent (including specialty cream cheese flavors like the burnt jalapeño ), and the staff is always super friendly. The bagels were very unique and the specialty ones were great to try. We didn't have to wait long for our order as the the staff was pretty quick to process orders. There was no seating in the shop but they did have some sidewalk seating along the side street. Plan accordingly if you are not just doing take out. read more

Always happy to see someone adding to the fast casual breakfast options in the Triangle! While these are not particularly similar to NY bagels, they probably are the best bagels you can find in the area. They have a very crispy shell, which I thought was interesting and unique. Wish I could give 10 stars. As a native New Yorker, I am picky about bagels and generally one cannot find good bagels outside if New York. However, Isaac"s bagels are as good or better than any I ever had, inside or out of the Big Apple Their trays are delicious (lox, white fish, vegetables) and aestheutcally beautiful. Most importantly, though, the service is unparalleled. We had to make a major last minute adjustment and, despite their cost and inconvenience, Isaacs was incredibly gracious and accommodating. We just ordered food and drinks there and I managed to shove the ginger cookie and chai latte down my mouth. Let me tell you...the ginger cookie is the best ginger cookie I've ever had. I haven't had a chance to eat the bagel yet, and I'm already considering going back to purchase the remaining two. The chai latte is also delicious. The reviews were amazing and as an ex New Yorker, we had great expectations. The bagels had little taste. They were crispy on the outside and could have been more crispy. I'd rate the bagels as fine but nothing special. We bought one of the babka rosettes and it was just ok. A disappointment for me. Wegmans sells great babka, especially the cinnamon.
