Kulwinder was able to point out ALL of these asymmetries in my eyebrows within a few seconds of meeting her, so I immediately trusted her she knew what needed to be done. with a bit of threading here and there, she got them to be the most symmetrical I've seen them probably ever -- fixing years of mistakes from past threaders! She also got them to look sharp and arched, the way I like them. I will continue to come back to her for as long as I'm in vancouver.

My friend was a regular at this salon, and she gave me a coupon of $25 dlls off on a haircut. I called on a saturday to ask if I needed an appointment or I just can drop in, they asked me of the person of the coupon wich is Oscar and they said he was open at 1 but still they needed my phone in case "something happend" and I asked her, well something like cancel me? and she said she will call me with enough time if this was the case. 1 block away from the salon I received the called, telling me that Oscar cant do my hair cut, so I just enter the salon and said, well I am already here so whats going to happend? by the way, it turns out this Oscar is mexican and start talking to me in a very rude way in spanish telling me that there was no way I can just get an appointment the very same day with him cause he is super busy, and I said that I dont even know him, I came for the discount and to try out the salon, and thats why I called so early in the morning, otherwise they could just told me that I needed an appointment for another day. I said to the recepcionist, well I am already here so whats gonna be, and they offer me to have my haircut with someone else and I agreed, I cant remember her name but she did a good job, cant complain about that. I end up paying almost 60 dlls for a trim with the discount included, and I called my friend who gave me the coupon and she told me she just pays 20 dlls for hers, I came back and ask why I was being over charged compared to my friend and they told me the person that cut my hair at the end she charges more, and I said well you should have notify me of the overprice and by then I could decide if I pay or wait for the other guy, and this gay Oscar comes back, starts telling me a liar in front of all the customers, I turned around and said to the recepcionist, I am not talking anymore with him he is being very rude and the problem is not with him, she didnt do anything about his behavior, she just shush him away and everytime he past by me he roll his eyes at me and stick his tongue at me. I wait for a long time for a readjust on the price cause I wasnt notified of the difference of prices, until the manager came out and she just told me that she wasnt gonna do any reinburse cause that was their prices (which they dont have advertised anywhere on the salon). I told her that if the coupons are for atract new customers for sure I wasnt gonna recommend anybody to come and being treated like this, and that this gay Oscar was being very disrespectfull, and she just said well he is a very busy person. It turns out that this guy Oscar is giving another price under the table for certain people only, but at the end I didnt even got an apology for being yelled at from this guys and just lost my time there. read more

After years of bouncing from one bad hair dresser to another in Vancouver I finally hit the jackpot and found Is Salon. The owner of Is Salon (and In Salon), Erin Moore, is my girl! I've been seeing her for almost 2 years now and I can honestly say that I will never ever go anywhere else! As long as Erin is in Vancouver, I will be there. I have lost track of how many different hair dressers I've seen (a lot!) and had them damage my hair, say they can do something when they can't, and then charge me a small fortune. Once I paid $600 for an awful ombré experience and I was devastated. Not just because of the bad job that was done but I felt so ripped off. I've shed so many tears on bad hair experiences, but when I leave Erin's Salon I'm always super happy & I get so many compliments on my blonde. I came to Erin wanting to go platinum blonde, and with some time and patience, my hair is a gorgeous icy platinum, while still being long & healthy. The salon I went to previously said she could get me there in stages, but by just doing some highlights. It was costing me a fortune and after the second or third time, was still nowhere where I wanted to be. I'm fair skinned with a natural ashy/darker blonde so I figured it shouldn't be that hard. I would have preferred if she would have just been honest and said she couldn't or didn't feel comfortable going down that road. Anyway, I digress. Erin gave me a consult shortly after and BAM my hair was an all over lovely blonde. Now it's the perfect shade and I couldn't be happier. Like I said, time and patience. Erin is a lovely woman! She's uber talented (and super funny) and she's great with her staff and is an excellent leader and teacher! I've seen it first hand. She's also always so happy! I had to come on here and say that, especially after I saw the previous mean review! Not true at all. Erin and her staff take care of you and make you feel welcome and like you're at home. I even brought my pooch in once. The lovely people that work in the front are also the sweetest. They always offer you a tea, coffee or water and if it's a later appointment a nice glass of wine. It's a fun and upbeat place to be and I truly can't say enough good things! Erin, you are the best! xo read more

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience dealing with this salon. They advertised a hair extension promotion on Facebook running until May 31 that included free installation and 10% off the cost of hair. I spoke with a salon representative, discussed options, and then attended an in-person consultation where we colour matched and selected the hair length I wanted. At the consultation, I explained that I wasn't ready to purchase the hair that same day because I wasn't sure I could fit the appointment in before the promotion ended due to work travel and they were very understanding and said as long as I came for the appointment before May 31 it would be the same price. Exactly a week later, on May 7, I confirmed that I was able to move forward. What makes this even more frustrating is that the salon representative was still actively posting the promotion across multiple Facebook channels that very same day. However, as soon as I reached out to book, I was suddenly told they would no longer honour the original quote. Instead, they added an extra $155 fee and changed the hair discount terms entirely. The explanation given was simply that management decided to end the promotion early, despite it still being publicly advertised and despite the consultation and quote already being provided under those terms. Changing pricing after a customer has already invested time into consultations and planning is unprofessional and misleading. If promotions can be withdrawn at any moment without honouring existing quotes, that should be clearly communicated upfront. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling very misled and disappointed in their actions. To top it all off, they responded to my review on Google with the an incredibly unprofessional response. Their knee-jerk response to negative feedback is to attempt to defame and discredit a user by creating lies about the interactions so that people will be less likely to believe them or feel like taking down the review is the best solution rather than taking accountability and apologizing for causing an issue in the first place. If you're inclined to want to work with an unprofessional business, this is the salon for you! read more

I had never heard of this salon before going there, but a friend recommended Cleo Howley at this salon and my hairdresser at the time was not doing what I asked, so I decided to somewhere new. That was over a year ago and I am still going, with no plans of changing! Cleo is fantastic, she knows exactly what she is talking about and is very honest about what will and will not work. My hair was very damaged after years of colouring and quiet short ,I was using clip in extensions to hide the damage. After going to see Cleo for the second time, she gave me such a fantastic cut, that I stopped using my extensions. My hair was so healthy! Before going to see Cleo, my hair had a lot of yellow tones in it, which i hated! I really wanted a more ashy almost white blonde. Cleo managed to get me to the perfect colour the very first time she did my hair. She knows what works for people, she cares about the quality of her work and she will do what it takes to make sure you get what you want. I love going to see Cleo as I know she actually listens to her clients! My work schedule means I can only get more hair done late in the evening and she very kindly always accommodates me. The salon has a great energy & atmosphere and is in a great location. They have a fantastic, wide selection of products and who doesn't love a glass of wine when they are being pampered?! I would highly recommend Cleo and the IS Salon team. Keep up the great work guys! :) read more

I came here to try a first time customer promotion. The staff and stylists were friendly and it's in a nice location. I coloured and cut my hair. The colour I was not very happy with and was not the most positive colouring experience for me particularly for my tender scalp, but I liked the hair cut. I had ash blonde hair and wanted to go a little bit darker, and it didn't come out particularly attractive or natural after a couple shots trying to lighten. Since it was my first visit, the stylist was not familiar with my hair, so picking the right strength of products took some touch and go work. Maybe it was the brand of product or the brush used, but was not a physically comfortable salon visit. And I know it is supposed to sting some. Hair cut was nice. Flattering. And the stylist was very helpful when I came back to try to get closer to my desired result with a darker less cool toner. My friend tried another stylist, and she wasn't too happy with the end result either. Awkward, choppy bangs, asked my stylist to help fix them which she did, and definitely made a difference. Overall, nice salon, and helpful welcoming people. Just depends on what you want, and I was not successful getting what I wanted. read more

Where should I even begin! I have been going to Is. Salon and In. Salon for about 3 years now and I just can't go anywhere else! The customer service, the talent int he room and keeping current with trends is something they perfect! I personally have gotten my hair done from Erin, Jorey and Joey and absolutely love them! I have refereed all my friends and family to them as well and they have an amazing referral program which is an added bonus. To all my Indian princesses out there, going from black to blonde doesn't happen over night, understand and respect your hair and and allow your stylist to save the integrity of your hair! Also they have the most amazing products that help maintain the color! They are not pushy whatsoever and dont tell you to buy everything and anything they use (but you will fall in love with everything). LAST BUT NOT LEAST, The atmosphere and vibe is what gets me every time. Its almost like you become a part of the family and party while your there. I also went to the salon for the RED POCKET DEAL. I settled the extra $10 for long hair ahead of time with the receptionist, so it wasn't that big of a deal. I'm guessing the $9 tax might have included the tips, so I didn't tip (not that I would have, with their level of service). I've had one of my worst experiences with Allison. She has rough with my hair and head, and she's scratched my ear and face on multiple occasions with her nails and the brush. When she was blowdrying my hair, I actually got burnt from the blowdryer. The entire wash+cut lasted for less than 30 minutes, even though I needed a really thorough clean up. I asked for my hair to be thinned, but she only chopped off a couple of inches. I could've done this at home myself! Her attitude was also condescending. She asked if I always use coupons and seemed to be displeased when I said I haven't gotten my hair cut in a few months. Totally not worth my money, coupon or not. Never revisiting again. read more

I'm writing this review with respect to hair magician Malissa Jeffers because she is awesome! She is so talented & hands down the best stylist I've ever worked with. I first went to Malissa a few years ago as I didn't have a stylist I was thrilled with in Vancouver. She was like a one nights stand that turned into a long term relationship! haha.. She is creative, adventurous and educates you as she does your hair. She is a hairstylist who doesn't try to sell you useless products you don't really need. If she recommends something to me, it's because I really should use it. She is the only stylist I have ever trusted enough to say 'go for it, do what you think is best'. I love IS, it's smack in the heart of downtown. It's so convenient because you can get your hair done and walk straight to a night out in Yaletown. The salon looks very chic and clean. They have the nicest staff and the hairstylist are so great. I always go to the same lady, Lauren, the one with the black/brown shorter hair and she's always spot on. She does a quick consultation in the beginning and then just gets it! I'm very, very picky with my hair and it's so nice to tell her what you want and not have to worry for the rest of the session. Bonus, she does these amazing head massages which are really the only reason I even get my hair done. I've already told all my girls about her and they had colour treatments and up-dos done by her and they all loved it! It's such a treat to get dolled up there - highly recommend her. I had a very disappointing experience at this salon. Here are the main points: *I trusted the method they recommended, as I was going through a very difficult time and simply followed the professional's advice. *Shortly after, several extensions fell out, including one while I was having lunch at a restaurant -- which was extremely embarrassing. *A dermatologist confirmed that this method is not suitable for fine hair, as the weight of the extensions was pulling out my natural hair from the root. *A second salon confirmed the exact same thing. *Even after presenting these professional evaluations, the salon refused any refund or solution. Also they never show me the pack the hair I'm leaving this review to warn others with fine or fragile hair and to encourage the salon to be more responsible when recommending extensions. read more

I am one of those guys that spends good money on his hair because it has to be done just right and Jaye has always gotten it right for me. I like the fact that Jaye is always attending classes and in the know with the latest hairstyling fashion and techniques and the few times I have had to go to other stylists, I really see the difference in the artistry and technique in her work. I have been going to Jaye way before she joined Is Salon, but now that she works at IS, I look forward even more to seeing her because of the large space, the vibe and the fact that they always offer me coffee, tea, water or wine. I've been to this salon quite a few time, and I alway see Lauren. Best highlights I've ever had!!! She does a killer hair cut too. I'm not the best at explaining what I want but Lauren is really good taking my random explanations and giving me exactly what I want. And she showed me how to curl my hair with my flat iron!! The saloon is clean and people are happy.

We've gone through a bunch of different hair colours over the years, I used to dye my hair and started disliking the dark root look, so when Covid hit, I decided that I would start to grow our my natural colour. As a professional musician, our band is always having photos done, I didn't want to look grey, I wanted to somehow keep a hint of blonde but maintain a somewhat natural look with my salt and pepper coming in. I discussed this with Amanda who knew exactly what to do, she suggested foils and we've been doing foils ever since. I would never go to any other salon. Citrus Hair Salon is so classy, from the wonderful staff that greets you at the door to the person popping by with snacks. They have fantastic communication, you get a phone call and a text if your stylist is running late. The salon itself is very stylish, the wash area seats are soft and padded and you never get neck strain unlike other salons when your hair is being washed plus they have an array of wonderful products. If you like hair extensions - they have those too! Amanda is not only an expert with colours and styles, she's an incredibly beautiful and kind, smart, charismatic human. There needs to be more stars available to add to this review - great doesn't quite match the service and quality, it should say extraordinary. Thank you Amanda for taking such good care of me all these years and to the owner and all the staff as well. It's easy to write a bad review, I wish more people would write reviews when people and establishments are outstanding.

Names provided on their website. Sitting in my styling chair and having Kim take care of me, I was actually quite impressed. Not only was she a delight to deal with but she's an absolute expert at what she does...I received exactly what I was looking for. I was really enjoying myself...the energy, the vibe and knowing I was in good hands with Kim who was cutting my hair for the first time. I was in this Zen place thinking to myself in my chair ....finally I found my salon. ........................Until At the end, as I was checking out.....Luna charged me $120. I reminded her that actually Kim's fee for a woman's cut on the website is $100. She mentioned that this is the minimum and that it can increase based on the length of hair, quality of hair...and this and that....which is funny because they call you before the appointment and ask you all that stuff, but don't mention any price increase, until you have to pay....lol I asked her again and she said, the website is not accurate... wow...ok.... Anyhoo, I did find it a little disingenuous especially considering that Kim my stylist mentioned it was easy to cut my hair because of how healthy it is...so why the extra charge then?..... Anyway, moving on....Kim gave me a great cut and she's worth every dollar. What really pissed me off was something else..... I was paying cash, and as I handed Luna my bills she asked would you like change back? I said yes. Twice she asked me and then gave me this look like you're not leaving a tip?! She asked me again, you want ALL of it back?...Yes, I said....As I wanted to manage the tip situation with Kim herself upon a little chat before heading out. What made this even worse was, as Luna was giving me back my change...she dropped every single nickel, dime and Loonie on the desk. Before giving me ....this judgemental look. Every single minute of that enjoyable experience in that salon before checkout crashed and burned. Ok....I'll tell you....it wasn't even the money. I felt judged. I did speak with Kim afterwards outside only to be fair, as I wanted her to know, because she is a great stylist. However, it is exactly due to people like the front desk girl Luna cashing me out that I will not return here. I'm sad to say. Hair salons are like any other businesses. Reception is everything. The first thing the customers experiences and the last thing the customer leaves with...either brings them back or not. Interestingly, Upon arrival, the front girl was someone else and her energy and service matched an upscale environment, professional and courteous. Pity for them she wasn't the one at the front as I was leaving. If you are the reception for the evening, it is not your business how much tip clients leave or choose not to leave. It is however, your business to problem solve which she didn't do. At all. "The website is not accurate" is all she gave me with a blank stare. She didn't even attempt to ask or consult my stylist about the fee confusion, or to ask management to look into the matter and honor what could have simply been an honest misunderstanding. She just dropped my change as you would throw a street performer without a second thought, as to customer satisfaction or your own professional responsibility to the salon and its owner. If it weren't for Kim's great cut they'd only get 1 star.
