I went for a quick trim and it was a full service from head and shoulders massage and beautiful blow dry! My boys like the fact that they will be getting some sweets and hot chocolates after their haircuts. No one complains about going to get their haircuts anymore. The only downside is the parking around Esplanade and Lonsdale can be so hard to find.

The salon itself it very cool - super aesthetic, good vibes, nice staff. They also have a great instagram page, which is how I found them. I would compare them to the internet hair gurus like Ahn Co Tran (of Ramirez Salon) and Sal Salcedo (of Nova Arts Salon). Very vibey. I will say, be prepared for a pretty steep bill. I expected it to be high because obviously they have a great internet presence and do great work, but I was still surprised by the final cost. Of course, I tipped on top of that because Yuri really did a great job. So the final bill was... staggering. However, I truly believe hair is one of the things you shouldn't cheap out on, especially if you're getting it coloured as well, like I did. A good balayage takes time and skill, and if you find a salon with prices that seem to good to be true, you probably won't be happy with the results (there are exceptions of course). I do wish they had some sort of promo or incentive for new customers. I see a lot of other salons offering either some % off or a free cut with a hair colour appointment for new customers. It would have been nice to see some summer promotion or something. Overall, if you can afford it, this is a great salon with a lot of talented hair dressers and colour specialists. You won't leave disappointed.

I had a consulation and she assured me that once I got home and played around with it and used wig tape, all would be good. But it doesnt sit on my crown (top of my head) and when I pull it down so it does, the sides cover my ears!! Ridiculous! Instead of telling me the wig was too big (keeping in mind, shes placing it on my head, not me), they should have told me they would order the appropriate size. I have a very small head. No refunds, No exchanges, although you wont find that policy on their website or the receipt. Stylist forgot to mention it as did the receptionist taking my payment. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. They should be embarrassed and ashamed of themselves.

When I explained that the ad did not state any restrictions the woman on the phone explained very rudely that she didn't write the ad, her boss did. I asked to speak with her boss and she told me he wasn't in. Given the gigantic attitude I was getting I asked what her name was and she refused to tell me. She then asked my name and I gave it and again asked her name and she ignored me and then refused to speak. I said hello multiple times over a solid minute and could hear the background noise of the salon but she refused to speak to me. AVOID. Complaining to Groupon.

I want to say that supernova is a very classy salon with a friendly peaceful atmosphere and great friendly staff. They are very Intentive with all their clients they make sure that they are comfortable and relaxed. They are honest and make sure that you look incredible when you leave they listen and they are caring and compassionate. The music is very soothing and relaxing for the atmosphere of the salon. They put clients needs first as for example when I went to the salon the lovely lady I had was Trish and it was very hot in the salon and she said to me well I'm not gonna put a robe on you because it's very hot and I know you'll be sweating in etc. so when she did my hair she just put a cape on and when she was done cutting my hair she took the cape off and she took the hair blow dry her and Claire I'm cool to cool me off she was also very verbal with everything that she was doing step-by-step ensuring me what was going on and making sure that I knew before she finished she started with my bangs she would say OK I'm going to cut your bangs I'm going to do this I'm not gonna take too much length off I think this looks good constantly asking me what I would like but I told her I was going and I wanted her opinion and what she thinks would look best I am beyond blown away with her work I get a lot of compliments and I will be back one of the best places I have been in for a very long time thank you so much supernova and Trish for your amazing incredible service read more

I met Trish two years ago after a series of unfortunate experiences left my hair dead and damaged. My hair had gone from long, beautiful, and lush to a shoulder length disaster. I have brown hair and my hair was over bleached with heavy damage. During our initial consult I asked Trish for more highlights and bleach. While she could have simply done what I asked for and given me extra highlights, she let me know my hair is too frail for that kind of treatment. She adjusted my initial expectations and told me what would be a realistic color. It was hard to have my hair darker than what I like for a couple months; but I slowly saw results. My hair started growing out and getting healthy. My hair is back to the beauty it was ten years ago and is blonder than ever. I get compliments all the time. I may have had to wait before I achieved the color tone of my dreams; but Trish saved my hair. I thought I'm aging and that is why my hair is not growing as long and as beautiful as it used to be. Nope! My hair needed someone with experience and ethics to do the right thing. I appreciate the fact that Trish takes pride in her work and does not deliver less than perfection. She is detail oriented which is great for someone who is picky like me. The salon is also beautiful and a gem on the North Shore. I'm very happy to have found Trish and Supernova. read more

I had SUCH a great experience at this salon. I went in with a faded box dye colour on my self-cut hair... and it needed help. I wanted to get bangs (for the first time), and fix up my colour to match my natural roots. My stylist, Annie, was friendly and knowledgable. She took the time to really understand what it was I was looking for, and I appreciated her consulting with other stylists to be sure she was choosing the best colour for me. While cutting, she continuously explained what she was doing and why she was doing it, and asked if I liked each plan before cutting. She told me I was going to have a "hair transformation", and I thought it was a little corny at the time, but I have to say that she was right!! My hair is completely transformed and I'm so happy with it!! I also want to mention that she was great at recommending products, without being pushy. She surprised me by not skipping a beat in knowing exactly what brands to recommend and avoid when I mentioned that I only use cruelty-free products! I love this salon. The end to end experience is one of the best I've had to in Vancouver and the North Shore. The receptionists are always friendly, professional and accurate in doing bookings or helping with questions or attending to me when I first arrive. I love my stylist, Bella. She gives me great cuts and really natural looking, low maintenance colour and highlights. Here is a photo I took without waves. When I get a blow out and curls there, they all do the curls the same way, they have been trained in the same technique. I recently learned the don't rent chairs at this salon, which I believe can lead to inconsistencies in quality and service. I have seen another stylist here, (Simran, who was amazing) when mine was not available in the timeline when I wanted to book and that's not something you can do at a salon that rents chairs. The owner Dana is so talented, skilled and creative, she is always doing styles which are displayed on their TV at the washing station. If you want the best unicorn hair in town, ask for Dana, she is award winning and does incredible work. read more

Not only a good stylist, but the salon itself provides great customer service. The space is beautiful and full of life. Additionally there is complimentary coffee or tea offered on arrival which is a great touch. Stylist wise l see Bella. It's worth noting when it comes to my hair, I would hate to be my stylist, I know I am high maintenance in terms of expectations, but Bella knocks it out of the park every time. She manages me well through her dialed-in consultation process, her care for hair health and the actual execution of color/cut. I believe their motto is "Love your hair" and you can really tell that's what they want for their clients. On customer service- I had purchased a couple products from them and had hardly used it, was told I could bring it in (as it was used all of 5 times) and do a direct exchange within the same product line. It took me a year before I finally brought it back in and they still honoured the exchange no problem while educating me to ensure this next choice was going to give me the result/care my hair needed! read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this salon. On April 5th, I came in for highlights and showed the stylist clear reference photos of what I wanted. Unfortunately, the result was nothing like what I asked for--nowhere close to the photos I showed. Despite this, I was charged $220. I contacted them by email requesting a refund, but they refused and only offered a follow-up appointment. I explained that I had a sudden family emergency and had to leave Canada in two days. I even sent them a copy of my flight ticket, but they never replied. Sadly, I lost my father while I was away. I just returned to Canada and felt it was important to share this experience. The service quality was poor, and the customer service even worse--completely unresponsive and lacking compassion. I would not recommend this place based on my experience. read more

Supernova Salon is very modern, clean and inviting. The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. This salon is definitely a gem! There are hair stylists, and there's Shanda Vayle....she's a true stylist/artist! I travel from Richmond to North Vancouver to see her that is how much I trust and love her work! I have been seeing Shanda for years and will only allow her to touch my hair; I highly recommend her for not only color, cuts but styling as well! She has the best personality and our appointments are always filled with lots of laughter and sharing stories! I can honestly say I have never left the salon after Shanda has done my hair where I have been disappointed with the results. I always feel beautiful and like a new person! read more

Supernova is by far the best salon I have been to. This includes, the atmosphere, the salon istsefl and the staff. The new space is beautiful and really well taken care of. I had an appointment with Sabrina (who I have seen once before at The Dye Lot). She is an incredibly talented and knowledgable stylist. Sabrina is always friendly and easy to talk to. She really took the time to listen to what I wanted and was able to pull it off effortlessly as well as using her skills to make it even better. I totally trusted her vision the whole appointment and absolutely LOVE what she did with my hair. I just came out of the salon and oh my goodness did Trish do such an amazing job! From the minute you walk in, you are greeted and offered beverages! The receptionist was so nice and accommodating when I had called to change my appointment earlier! When I met with the hairstylist, I expressed my concern to keep my hair as long as possible but to also liven it up and cut dead ends off (confusing, I know)! She did such a great job at explaining the benefits of cutting some length off to give my hair more life and was so knowledgable in what would look best and how to upkeep the healthiness of my hair! GO TO ALIX at the North Vancouver location she is new and amazingly talented, completely brought my hair back to life! She was so quick and through and I walked out of there going from dark blonde to bright honey blonde! I like my hair done more naturally and don't get my hair done that often and she used really light yet effective methods and then treated my hair to keep it bright and fresh! She also got it done in a very timely manner being as I'm a busy girl, she planned the grow out and it's been weeks and my hair still looks super chic, absolutely LOVE my new look! read more

My favourite hair salon ever! Trish does an amazing job with my thick, lion mane of hair. Every time I leave I feel great and confident. I never feel like I have to put my hair up in a bun to hide it anymore. This is the first stylist that knows exactly how to shape my hair the way I like, and I'm not a picky person either! I've tried plenty of salons all over Vancouver and North Van and this one is #1 for me. The girls are great and easy to get along with, and the prices are very fair. I'm super picky when it comes to my hair and had never before left a hair appointment actually liking my new 'do... That is until I met Jude. She took her time to hear me out on exactly what I wanted and was communicating throughout. Not only that, but she's hilarious as we laughed and joked about our shared interests. I am really happy with my color and highlights I had done today. Matthew is terrific. My only advise is that it's very expensive. I was a little bit taken back. We've gone through a bunch of different hair colours over the years, I used to dye my hair and started disliking the dark root look, so when Covid hit, I decided that I would start to grow our my natural colour. As a professional musician, our band is always having photos done, I didn't want to look grey, I wanted to somehow keep a hint of blonde but maintain a somewhat natural look with my salt and pepper coming in. I discussed this with Amanda who knew exactly what to do, she suggested foils and we've been doing foils ever since. I would never go to any other salon. Citrus Hair Salon is so classy, from the wonderful staff that greets you at the door to the person popping by with snacks. They have fantastic communication, you get a phone call and a text if your stylist is running late. The salon itself is very stylish, the wash area seats are soft and padded and you never get neck strain unlike other salons when your hair is being washed plus they have an array of wonderful products. If you like hair extensions - they have those too! Amanda is not only an expert with colours and styles, she's an incredibly beautiful and kind, smart, charismatic human. There needs to be more stars available to add to this review - great doesn't quite match the service and quality, it should say extraordinary. Thank you Amanda for taking such good care of me all these years and to the owner and all the staff as well. Names provided on their website. Sitting in my styling chair and having Kim take care of me, I was actually quite impressed. Not only was she a delight to deal with but she's an absolute expert at what she does...I received exactly what I was looking for. I was really enjoying myself...the energy, the vibe and knowing I was in good hands with Kim who was cutting my hair for the first time. I was in this Zen place thinking to myself in my chair ....finally I found my salon. ........................Until At the end, as I was checking out.....Luna charged me $120. I reminded her that actually Kim's fee for a woman's cut on the website is $100. She mentioned that this is the minimum and that it can increase based on the length of hair, quality of hair...and this and that....which is funny because they call you before the appointment and ask you all that stuff, but don't mention any price increase, until you have to pay....lol I asked her again and she said, the website is not accurate... wow...ok.... Anyhoo, I did find it a little disingenuous especially considering that Kim my stylist mentioned it was easy to cut my hair because of how healthy it is...so why the extra charge then?..... Anyway, moving on....Kim gave me a great cut and she's worth every dollar. What really pissed me off was something else..... I was paying cash, and as I handed Luna my bills she asked would you like change back? I said yes. Twice she asked me and then gave me this look like you're not leaving a tip?! She asked me again, you want ALL of it back?...Yes, I said....As I wanted to manage the tip situation with Kim herself upon a little chat before heading out. What made this even worse was, as Luna was giving me back my change...she dropped every single nickel, dime and Loonie on the desk. Before giving me ....this judgemental look. Every single minute of that enjoyable experience in that salon before checkout crashed and burned. Ok....I'll tell you....it wasn't even the money. I felt judged. I did speak with Kim afterwards outside only to be fair, as I wanted her to know, because she is a great stylist. However, it is exactly due to people like the front desk girl Luna cashing me out that I will not return here. I'm sad to say. Hair salons are like any other businesses. Reception is everything. The first thing the customers experiences and the last thing the customer leaves with...either brings them back or not. Interestingly, Upon arrival, the front girl was someone else and her energy and service matched an upscale environment, professional and courteous. Pity for them she wasn't the one at the front as I was leaving. If you are the reception for the evening, it is not your business how much tip clients leave or choose not to leave. It is however, your business to problem solve which she didn't do. At all. "The website is not accurate" is all she gave me with a blank stare. She didn't even attempt to ask or consult my stylist about the fee confusion, or to ask management to look into the matter and honor what could have simply been an honest misunderstanding. She just dropped my change as you would throw a street performer without a second thought, as to customer satisfaction or your own professional responsibility to the salon and its owner. If it weren't for Kim's great cut they'd only get 1 star.

I asked him for highlights, to give the illusion of more volume and once I showed him inspo photos he took the time to explain to me what could be done more realistically. He also taught me how to look after my hair at home: since I have baby hair, it tends to break easily. I have been following his tips and my hair looks very healthy now. Also the baby lights he did turned out very natural, I was afraid to leave the salon looking like a zebra ( it has happened before in other salons I went). Thanks so much Bruno!

She was very accommodating and didn't seem to mind answering any of my questions, both before and during the process. I felt that Zoom really focused on client's having an enjoyable and relaxing experience. The have a lounge area where they also do coloring. This was a first for me as I'm usually just sitting in the regular salon chair while my hair gets done, but this space felt more relaxing. They also had plenty of tea options for guests. One thing that I did notice was that one side of my hair was slightly lighter than the other. I think most people wouldn't notice it though. Would definitely recommend Zoom.
