I called at 0900 to confirm my appointment which was in an hour... the person who answered the phone assured me everything is on schedule and even encouraged me to BE ON TIME!! So I get there 0950 hrs and follow their procedures... mask on... wait at door... sign waiver.. and then notice that Carly, the person who was supposed to do my hair was in THE MIDDLE not the END of doing someone's hair! The receptionist who had asked me to sign a waiver and wait outside in the chilly shadow of the bldg assured me that she would tell me when Carly was done... I waited until 3 minutes past my scheduled appointment before leaving. We are all doing our best under COVID circumstances... but come on... get it together.. Immediately after walking into this salon and speaking with Brittany, I knew I just had to share my experience after having my hair done this last Wednesday. The goal of my appointment was to get my balayage brought up and toned for my graduation dance the next day. The only problem I was having beforehand was finding a salon that would take on washing my hair while having my face first into the bowl. I have cervical vertigo and I am unable to put my neck in certain positions or I will trigger vertigo (dizziness). I have had my hair done by a freelance hairstylist last summer but that alone costed $300. With the freelance hairstylist who came to my home she allowed me to hop in the shower instead of putting my head back in a sink. At Headwaze, Brittany, who did my hair let me know it was no problem having my hair washed frontwards. She was also a new employee so I got half off of $180. My hair process took 4 hours. Having my hair washed face first was messy but everyone in the salon was extremely accommodating and understanding of my situation. This is the first salon I came across after a lengthy search for a salon that was trained to be able to wash my hair out without needing me to put my head back and/or was willing to make a temporary mess. I hope this helps someone who has any sort of issue putting their heads back or even just anyone who is interested in the atmosphere and professionalism this salon possesses. read more

I have very long, fine, wavy hair and so when booking for my appointment, I asked for someone with a little more experience with this type of hair. Racheal was the stylist suggested to me by the receptionist, and Racheal did an amazing job!! I have definitely found my new go-to salon and stylist! I asked for long layers to emphasize my curls/waves and short curtain bangs to frame my face. I also asked for about 4 inches cut off. I am so happy with my hair. I also really liked that Racheal kept checking with me to make sure that I liked the length which opened the floor for me to ask for shorter curtain bangs or shorter on the length overall. Racheal was easy to talk to and made me feel very comfortable. All in all, it was a great experience and I suggest Racheal for anybody with a hair type similar to mine. read more

I found this place when they were promoting it on Hats Off Day. I spoke with Daniella on the phone before I came in. I have jet black roots and Daniella expertly lifted my hair's colour to a "natural silver". I was iffy about the natural silver as I wanted the greyish silver. I really wanted it. So, another 20 mins on the chair that i have sat for 5 hours. It was a long time, but she made sure I am happy with my colour before I leave. Last summer I had the brilliant idea to dye my hair a chocolate brown shade a la Lorelei Gilmore out of a box. Unfortunately it came out a garish black shade which did not suit my skin tone and needless to say was not quite the look I was going for. I went to Head Waze and saw Tara who was miraculously able to lighten my hair up to a natural golden brown without damaging it in one session. Since then she's added more highlights and it's now a dirty blonde shade that I'm in love with. Tara is a fantastic and talented stylist! Everyone at Head Waze is super friendly and welcoming. They always offer me something to drink and bring me a cookie. The salon is very clean and unlike several other salons in Vancouver that I've been to, there doesn't seem to be a high turnover in stylists, so there's always familiar faces. It was very nicely organized and super clean (is that a thing to note?). Anyway, Jenna cut my hair which turned out great and that's the only thing I asked for (i.e. short on the sides and layered on the top). I couldn't be happier with my whole experience. Gillian did a fantastic job from beginning to end. My cut and colour looks amazing and the head massage was a added bonus. We discussed the best way to get my hair healthy and growing again, as well she showed me products that would help, with absolutely no pressure to buy. After reading the reviews this place was everything I expected and more. The staff were all friendly with a down-to-earth tone, the salon is clean and trendy. Being picky with my stylists all my life (due to my challenging hair volume and texture) this was proven to be a great reward in trying something new. Tara was professional and very detailed orianted, she checks with me every step of the way to make sure we are on the right track. I'm not sure if she does this every time or just cause this was my first visit but this boosted my experience level dramatically (Instead of worrying if the cut will turn out good). At the end, I got the exact cut that I wanted and a new stylist! Bonus: This salon cares for the environment! They are part of a recycling program which takes back used containers and hair! Staff were polite. Hair cut took too long. Colour faded after 5 weeks with using salon colour protector products. Stylist left a long chunk of hair on one side of my short cut. Hair dryer does not reach all the way around the chair. Very disappointed for what I paid. Won't be back. read more

Tammie, the aesthetician, who works here does wonderful nail work, eyebrow shaping and facials. Highly recommend the shellac manicure and pedicures. Facials are very relaxing and she does a very thorough job with the extractions. Eyebrows are evenly shaped and that takes skill! One big emphasis is on cleanliness and hygiene. She doesn't take shortcuts. Uses a new nail file each time for each nail service. It is a very important step because you do not want to catch a fungal or hepatitis infection due to someone's poor hygiene practice. The prices are average salon/spa prices. read more

I got my hair done by Ian a week ago and I still absolutely love it. As a natural brunette, I was very nervous about my desire to go for a very light blonde, but Ian was so patient in listening to what I was looking for and took the time to ensure he understood my vision. Throughout the process, Ian took wonderful care of me while maintaining his very upbeat and lively personality. He seemed to really love and take pride in his work, which is very comforting -- especially when you're going through a very big hair transition! He also provided tips for maintenance and focused on price-conscious solutions for my student budget. With curly hair I'm always on-edge when I get haircuts, but Ian definitely knew what he was doing. My curls have never looked better! Overall, everyone at Head Waze is very friendly and welcoming.
