I took my car to this shop 4 years ago for thermostat replacing, tire rods and sway bars with joint front. I picked up my car an DDC took it on a trip to Rockford. I never made it. I pull over to call the shop to tell them the car was over heating. The shop said"just drive it and temp would go down". I drove it immediately back home the water hose broke. i let the car sit for life 6 years. I went to the shop and the thermostat housing were broken filled with a glue like substance that clogged the heater coil. Then I went to the shop again for a squeaking noise and guess what. They didn't do the sway bars, ball joints, or rods. This was dangerous to play with someone's safety. Then I had to pay them 2500 For repairs they say they did. At first I thought it was a really good shop but this is not a trustworthy repairman. They took all my money don't go here for nothing read more

10/23 - My oil light came on so I went to Jiffy Lube to get an oil change. They refused me service saying my new oil drain plug installed by Irvin's is leaking oil and needed rethreading. Brought my car back to Lionel and was told that the NEW oil drain plug he installed was faulty which caused the leaking and he would replace it. He then told me I had leaking Valve Cover Gaskets which was the cause of all the smoking. Mind you, Lionel never mentioned these leaking Valve Cover Gaskets the first time I visited the shop and spent $1,200 on repairs. After receiving ANOTHER $1,300 Quote for repairs, I took my car to a Chevy Dealership. I recommend that you only take your vehicle to this business IF you know about cars and the service hours it takes for your repairs. Otherwise, you'll be taken advantage of with extra labor costs and service diagnoses you may not need. Use this service at your own risk. The only time I could get in contact with the owner/mechanic is when I physically went to the establishment other than that I got the secretary who was not knowledgeable about what was going on with my car. Absolutely horrible service! DO NOT COME TO THIS AUTO REPAIR! I have elderly parents and this place took advantage of them on several occasions. My parents brought their car in twice for a leak in the coolant , then they try and fix other parts of the car that wasn't even broken to begin with! It's outrageous , honestly this shop just scams you. Literally the first time they brought the car in for the coolant leak they said it was the radiator (which was claimed to be replaced) a month later the same problem ( No heat) happens again! This process took 5 days, the second time we bring the car in 7 days go by and now there trying to fix things that aren't under warranty and claim were going to have to come out of pocket when the one thing we came in for isn't even fixed!!!! If you want your car fixed right, then Irvin's Auto Care is NOT the place for you. The shop is under new ownership and unfortunately has not stood up to the quality repairs of the previous owner. My Dad and husband has used this shop several times with no problems so I decided to give them a try. They are extremely slow and claim if you want the work done right, it takes time. I had my bumper replaced in August $400, this is November and the bumper is literally hanging off. I don't understand that if you keep my car for 2 weeks, then why isn't the work done correctly since "It takes time if its going to be done right". This is unacceptable. But wait, there's more! My husband took his car in 10/8 for a tune up. We received his car back and entire month later 11/11!! So they said he didn't need a tune up but did other warranty covered repairs. However, our receipt shows they recommend a tune up the next visit. My husband picked up his car and after driving home notices that it shakes badly. When we gave them the car, we had no issues, but the car had high mileage, so my husband knew it was time for a tuneup. They gave us the car back worse than what we gave to them! We took it back, now all of a sudden we need a NEW TRANSMISSION! How was this not discovered when they initially looked at the car! We received excuse after excuse. Ultimately, they replace the trans, we got the car back and it still shakes. They had the car for over a month, and the car is in terrible shape. I will definitely file a report with the BBB and take further steps, this is unacceptable. So if you want your car fixed right, DON'T COME HERE! read more

These mechanics who called themselves (technicians) in my opinion are nothing but alley mechanics with a garage, the owner so-called diagnose my problem, gave me a high price I didn't fight with him about the price and experience the same problem 4 times before telling me it's another problem after thoroughly checking it the first time "BS!! Absolutely an excellent place to go to for car repair! They are prompt with getting back to you after you drop your vehicle off to tell you the repairs needed. This place has been nothing but awesome! I'm surprised at the other reviews seeing that I was treated with nothing but respect. I bought my car in for a loud knocking noise in the engine. I was informed that I needed a new engine. The owner worked with me to keep the price down to a minimum. When my car wasnt ready as promised (not the owners fault), I was promptly notified. The owner's wife even helped me with the rates for my rental. The young lady in the reception area (her name escapes me) was very pleasant. She reminds me of a little sis that I'd love to have. 3-13-22, OMG, They Just hustling people in here, if you come here for an warranty coverage diagnosis on ur car. U will not pass the diagnosis procedures, due to it not being done right. I got Car Shield warranty on my Car, I took my car to Irvin Auto shop, cause when i stopped in to ask if they do business with Car Shield, they said yes. So anyway I gave them my car, they charge me $96.00 to diagnose my transmission on my car, not bad on the diagnosis cost. They had my car for an whole week and one day, and never checked my transmission properly, so when they turned in my report on my transmission diagnosis to Car Shield it was declined. Then i called car shield when i was still in the shop and asked them why my car didn't pass for the repair, they told me that the technician didn't do the proper procedures for car shield, so that they would repair my car. So car shield told me to take my car to another shop that knows how to do the procedures properly like it should be done and they will repair the car. I took my car to another shop, and they only had my car for 3days and i passed the transmission diagnosis this time, and i got an new transmission put into my car now. So if u don't want to be declined by ur warranty company, don't go here.!!! They just hustled me for that diagnostic fee, cause they know that my car wasn't going to pass there, cause they do not pull the whole transmission out and check it like they supposed to.. I tried to support black owned companies, but it took the white man to do the right thing.. "Dam Shame!!! Irvin Auto shop, if you do the proper procedures for people, ur warranty repair rates will go up, & ur have more passing than failing.. It's not rocket science.. Just do things right!!! We should have known better than to go to a place that hasn't been reviewed by ANYONE in over two years!!! And two of these reviews seem pretty generic. They don't tell me anything! First of all, a warranty. What is a warranty? To me it means that this company is GUARANTEEING me that their equipment, parts, and service will be satisfactory. If it's not, they will correct whatever problem their customer is having, or fully refund them. Right? Great customer service, right? Well apparently NOT at Irvin's!! After having to return TWICE to have the same problem part replaced, WITH OUR 90 DAY WARRANTY, we were refunded the cost of labor(which is odd, usually the cost of the PART is refunded), and rudely told to "take it somewhere else if you have a problem with it!" Really?!?!? REALLY?!?! Is this how you treat your customers??? Is this how much your customer mean to you??? However, we DID take that advice. We went to another repair shop for a second opinion at cost to US! And what did we find? DEFECTIVE PARTS!! That's right. CRAP!! They sold us crap and when it didn't work replaced it with new crap and talked down to us when we dared to complain!!! Now, in all fairness, maybe they didn't know. Their supplier could be selling THEM sub-par parts and they don't know anything about it. But if Irvin's is an upstanding business, this matter would be investigated! Immediately! We asked for ALL of our money back. The car still has the same problem we came in with and Irvin's still has half($178) of our money. We're worse off than when we started!! The car still runs poorly and now we're down $178!! Not to mention the money we spent at the OTHER repair shop for the second opinion!! Run! RUN!!! Diffently the cliche auto shop. They are going to find things to fix that are not broken. I took my car in, because I failed emissions test. Only one code came up but , they tell me I need three parts changed to fix the problem. I agree and pay the fee. I took my car back three times they could not fix the underlining problem. I failed the emissions test three times and spent over 450$, which qualifies you for wavier. I was denied the wavier because all the work done was not associated with the underlining problem. They are very rude and unhelpful. Luckly I was able to find another shop to fix the problem at little expence. read more

Horrible service. If there was an option for negative stars I would rate them a -5. The mechanics are not quality knowledgeable mechanics who did horrible work on my husbands car. The NEW OWNER admitted that a full/thorough diagnostic was NOT done on the car even though I paid for one. He even stated that he did me a FAVOR by NOT doing a thorough diagnostic because of the possibility of finding bigger&pricer issues with the car(which I wouldn't mind paying to be fixed if it is needed). So that was extremely ridiculous and shocking for him to say. We got our car back in an even worse condition then it was when we first brought it in to them. I was refused any sort of refund even though my car was still not fixed. The owner & his wife are extremely unprofessional and unpleasant people. The light skinned young woman they have working their register is an extreme liability and is very unprofessional as well. She called me a B*tch multiple times and was even ready to physically assault me before someone ran in front of her and grabbed her away. They became very disrespectful unprofessional and irate once I informed them I would be pursuing legal action for compensation of lost wages and time. I was so displeased with the work and professionalism of this business I would NEVER recommend anyone to this place. Since this incident, I've come into contact with MULTIPLE individuals who've had similar experiences with this "Business." If you want or expect quality service done on your car. I took my car to this shop I was referred by my Cousin who told me he douse good work. My car would not start so I had it towed there. I spoke with Ervin the owner he told me that he would give me such a great deal that I would thank him every time I saw him. He kept the car for more than a month. Then I called him he explained that he realized that I had been waiting a long time and said he would look at the car and get back to me in a few days. After I didn't hear from him I called his secretary said that she had been trying to reach me but that she had the wrong number which was a lye. He got on the phone and said that he had gotten the car started and that the bill was $650.00 dollars. He never called me prior to repairing the car. I went to his shop cave him $400.00 dollars he told me that his mechanic who had been working on the car was off sick and that I could pick up the car in two days. I called him two days later he told me that the car had caught on fire and burned up. He said don't worry he would submit a claim to his insurance co. I received a letter a week later from his insurance co. stating that the fire was not caused during the course of the repair and that they were denying the claim. I asked Irvin what happened he said that he turn around and the car was on fire and the only thing that he could guess is that the cars computer must have dumped too much gas out and it spilled on the catalynic converter which is under the car and caused the fire. I asked him to pay for the car he offered me $500 DOLLARS AS A SETTLEMENT. He said that if his insurance co. wouldn't pay that he didn't know what to say. There was no damage under the hood of the car nor was there any indication that there was any fire under the car. The entire in-side of the car was compleatly burned up. Now I need to hire a lawyer because I decided to take my car to IRVIN'S AUTO CARE, INC. What a NIGHTMARE!! read more

This shop is straight up robbing ppl, brought an old car for daughter and wanted to have it checked out, Mr Irvin came up with oil pan, water pump,, rack& pinion, brakes and rotors all front and back,, just for the water pump would be $288.96 for part and labor, the water pump would be $100.64 I immediately called Auto zone, the water pump with life time guarantee, was $55, so then I firgure I'd check all the other prices he said for parts, and yes all was over charged, I brought the pump on my own and had a alley mechanic put it on,cost me $70 also that mehanic told me all that stuff Mr Irvin said I needed, I didn't need, I even went and brought the oil pan for $67 and the alley mehanic told me to go get my money back because I didn't need a pan, didn't need rotors or brakes either. Now here is an alley mehanic cousrse hustling, but he was honest, and wasn't trying to take advantage of of my lack of knowledge concerning cars. He could of made some money, but he chose to be honest instead. I say all this to say, Mr Irvin comes off extremely nice, something's overly nice, but remember that's how Satan tricked Eve. Mr Irvin will smile and joke with you, while his hands are in your pocket, So beware and price check your parts. And make sure you need what he says you need. I personally will never step foot in a establishment, where there is deceit, I personally would not recommend this place. I am so glad I listened to my Co-worker who referred me to Irvines auto care. They greeted me at the front desk and was ready to assist my needs. It is so hard trying to find good reliable honest auto car. The guy told me the business was under new management. He was straight forward with me about everything. He told me his pricing would be fair, but the work would be guaranteed to satisfy, because he wanted repeat good business. He got my car in right away, and then went over everything with me. He gave me several options, and told me what needed to be done first, and what could wait if money was an issue. The place was clean, and my husband followed me to the shop. Mr. Curry called me as soon as my car was ready. I was so happy and relieved my car was in good hands and I got it back working great. I definitely will be going back there, and telling all my friends and family. Mr. Curry said he was seeking good reliable mechanics, and that once everything is in place they are going to have a grand opening and discounts on some services.
