Similar to the Cumberland Farm's on Washington Ave, I have never been inside the Rusty Lantern Market. I have no idea what the staff is like or if the store itself is clean. I just come here for gas and to put air in my tires. It's a good spot because it's tucked just slightly off two very busy roads (yet it's always pretty seamless getting in and out of this parking lot, which by the way is enormous!). I never seem to have to wait for a gas pump! Negative though? The trash can by the air pump is usually overflowing (and there is litter *all over* the ground; kind of icky!).

On the latter road, you can get in and out of the gas station regardless of which direction you're coming; this is not the case on the former - not a big deal, but's good to know should you get off 295's Exit 4 and are heading into town on Route 1. If you need gas and end up going down Broadway (with the cemetery on your right) instead of down Main, be prepared to turn around (please be respectful of the immediate businesses and residencies just beyond the Irving and DO NOT use their driveways to do so, mmmmkay?). This Irving is great if you just need gas and can pay at the pump thereby avoiding any human interaction. If you need anything more... good luck. The store - both inside and outside - is pretty dirty. Recently I reached into the cooler to get some water and found the bottles I pulled out to be covered in something black and sticky (along with my hand). It's the kind of place I try not to bump into anything at, definitely wouldn't use the bathroom at, and always wipe my purchases down with some sort of cleaner when I get home. And the cashiers? I've only ever experienced rudeness. I've stood in line for ages while cashiers have enjoyed personal phone calls; I've been rung up wrong and then accused that it was somehow my fault. Unpleasantness all around.

He then got Shawn and another gentleman that also came out. Turns out the pressure in 3 of my tires was incredibly high leaving me vulnerable to blow-outs. I was about to get on the freeway to drive over an hour. The one tire that I thought was "a little low" was actually an additional hazard and VERY low. The 3 of them were so kind to me and helped me get this situation fixed. I noticed the difference immediately when I drove away and I just can't thank them enough for really caring and helping protect me! It just feels like angels were watching out for me today! Everyone was friendly and engaging. I had a very pleasant conversation with a gentleman who worked there regarding my car. At this Irving next to Clark's pond, the morning assistant manager has the ​worst customer service than anyone that has ever worked in any of the Irving's in South Portland in my 40 years going to them. She is constantly talking on the phone and makes you wait until she's done talking to wait on you. She's constantly giving people dirty looks. She likes to stand there and not help her other employees when there's a line of customers out the door. And if you have the chance for her to wait on you she'll talk down to you and will tell you if she's out of something so she won't have to bend over to look for more of something. I'm surprised she is skinny as she is because she is the laziest person I've seen. She is making customers not come back and the other employees don't like working with her. Irving needs to let her go.
