I'm picky about BBQ, as are most southerners, because everyone has the BBQ they grew up with to set…read morethe standard and that varies tremendously geographically! But South Carolina has the best BBQ of all the southern states when you can find the right stuff. BBQ Barn is the right stuff. They've got pulled pork with quality sauces, hash similar to what I make myself (therefore excellent), delicious southern sides, sweet (and unsweet) tea, various other meats (their burnt ends are yum!) and some desserts that look great but I haven't tried yet. They also aren't a buffet style restaurant which is a great thing in my opinion. They have a good amount of seating but I don't think they'll fit lots of large groups so keep that in mind. They do have a drive thru and you can order food to go. Unfortunately, they are also like other good BBQ places in their limited hours; they are only open Wednesday-Saturday each week so they can't be Sunday dinner or Monday emergency dinner unless you plan well ahead. The staff are nice and the restaurant is always clean enough. When we aren't making our own barbecue, we are probably getting barbecue from BBQ Barn (or the only other good bbq spot in the CSRA).

My first two visits were only 24 hours apart because it was so good. This time I experienced the same delicious food and quick service. I am impressed by the quality of the food (so fresh) and how kind everyone is here. I like to ask what they recommend, because the desserts change and the cashier was sweet and indulged my questions. I also can't speak highly enough if the sauces. I am a big fan of the spicy georgia red bbq sauce. The gold is also great, just a mustard flavor. I'm tempted to buy a bottle the next time I visit. My recommendation - Come visit on a warm day. Order a platter of food (2 meats will give you plenty of leftovers) and a slice of cake. Sit at the outside tables and enjoy. There are fans outside if it's too warm.

The food still felt authentic and full of true Hawaiian flavor. Coming from a family with roots in the Big Island and Maui, I can appreciate when a place captures that genuine island-style taste and atmosphere. One thing that really stood out was how they start you off with fresh in-house made pork rinds, similar to how Mexican restaurants serve chips and salsa when you sit down. It was a unique and welcoming touch. We ordered the spicy poke, Spam musubis, and a mixed BBQ plate with two scoops of mac salad. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and satisfying. The mac salad especially had that classic island-style taste that's hard to find done right. The staff was friendly, the decor looked great, and the restaurant had a warm, inviting feel. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for authentic Hawaiian comfort food.

The hostesses were super welcoming, but the bartender (believe he said his name was Ryan) was the real MVP. Our group was about to order a bunch of combo plates when he convinced us to go with a tray instead, and he loaded us up with killer sides and sauces he recommended. He even gave us a rundown of local craft beers and broke down the regional BBQ styles with us all being from out of town. Super personable, incredibly helpful, and honestly the best dining experience I had all week. I would absolutely come back on another visit!

We weren't expecting the inside to be so big, let alone the HUGE outdoor covered patio with lots of TVs! Everyone working was friendly and we got seated promptly outside. I got the chocolate orange espresso martini and my husband got the cinnamon maple old fashion. The espresso martini was to die for. One of the best I've had. Not overly sweet but was so delusions with the orange and chocolate. A match made in heaven. The old fashion was ok, needed a little more cinnamon and one big ice cube instead of a bunch of small ones. (He's picky with his old fashions) We decided to split a 2 meat and 2 sides plate. We got the brisket and pulled pork. The brisket was tender and seasoned well, nice and Smokey. Pulled pork was ok, some pieces were a little dry. The beans were really good as well, great bbq flavor. Potato salad was the best I've had. Hands down. Mustard heavy and not mayo which is AMAZING. it was still creamy but the flavor was unique and tangy. Highlight of the dish in my opinion! Definitely worth checking out! It was a great experience.

First thing to know is that GPS led me to the street side of…read morethe restaurant, but the entryway is on the opposite side towards the corner of the small strip mall! Please put a sign in the window on the closed side. When you pull up to the entrance, you'll smell the smoke from the grill in the air! There's also a huge grill out front that you simply can't miss! I was quickly greeted upon entry. I ordered 2 rib plates with potato salad and a pint of hash, smoked wings weren't available this particular day. Since I've gone back during lunchtime, specifically to try these smoked wings. Unfortunately, they were closed both times. I should have checked their hours prior. Located their hours on their FB page. They're open 11-5 Wednesday-Saturday. Onto the food...The ribs and potato salad were ok or unremarkable to me. I guess I'm a little picky, but I didn't see a smoke ring nor taste the smoke at all. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I did go a little late. Maybe the ribs were warming awhile. Not sure, but I'll give it a try earlier next time along with the smoked wings and update my review as necessary. My husband and I both really loved the hash and rice!!! Also FYI no military or first responder discounts available.

I came at around 3pm but it's advisable to come earlier when they open at 11:30am cause the food sells out fast! They have ribs, chicken, turkey wings, pork chop, and so much more. I got the smokehouse chicken with hash and rice with mac and cheese. The chicken is smoked to perfection and you get good flavor all the way through the whole piece of chicken. It's really tender too and tastes even better with the bbq sauce. The chicken has the best smokey flavor that I've never had anywhere else before. The hash and rice is also really good with lots of flavor and not too salty at all. The Mac and cheese is great too. I don't know what they put in it but it's delicious. The mango lemonade is perfect to wash everything down with (just a little too sweet for my preference). I definitely want to come back again to try their ribs and pork but I need to remind myself to come earlier so everything won't be sold out by the time I get there. I wish i knew about this place earlier because they seriously have good legit bbq. Also wish they had a sign in the front of the restaurant so it's easier to find. But hey if you know you know.

I'm not necessarily a culinary professional but I am a southern gal who loves food and loves to cook, and my family and I have strong feelings about BBQ. Since moving to the CSRA, we've found lots of "pretty good" bbq but nothing GREAT. Then we finally had Freeman's! They make traditional BBQ, slow smoking the whole hog and they only smoke about 1000lbs a week and they sell out in the three days they are open (Thurs-Sat). The pulled pork is great (and for other reviewers questioning, pulled pork is the real BBQ, other meats can be good but don't bother on a first visit with anything other than pulled pork), I think it can stand alone without sauce just because it's tender and smoky, but the sauce (a delicious and not too sour vinegar based BBQ sauce) only makes it better. I've got strong feelings about hash too, and their hash was quite good. A little on the watery side for me BUT it wasn't liver hash (a pro in my mind) and it was not overly sweet like many hashes tend to be (including my own recipe, that I'm now going to fiddle with). The Mac and cheese was good but needed salt (as most restaurants do, we love salt). That's all we got- pulled pork, bbq sauce, hash, Mac and cheese. We went there to order takeout and brought it home so I cooked rice myself. They have a very small seating area inside, a few tables with hole-in-the-wall vibes. I definitely think they are better suited to doing what we did- takeout to eat at home or elsewhere but the restaurant dining area was clean and if we didn't have a toddler who can't sit still I'd probably be more inclined to stay and eat. Their menu is limited but that is a GOOD thing, and I can only vouch for what we had but I suspect the other sides are good too. We talked with Mr Freeman, the third generation owner, and he was very helpful and kind in answering my questions about BBQ and helping us decide how much food we needed for our group. IMPORTANT: as I mentioned, they run out of their pulled pork every day. The first time we tried to go was at 5pm on a Saturday and they were sold out. The second time we went was around 12:30 or 1 on a Saturday and he said they were already on their way to being sold out for the day. Go early (they open at 11) to ensure you don't miss out on the best BBQ in the CSRA!

Coming from Texas I am not a huge fan of the vinegar based bbq sauce and more of a beef guy but I had a decent experience here. Everything was about a 4/5. The ribs were tender and smoky, very soft. However I felt they could use a little bit of salt. The hash was interesting, more of a meat gravy that went well with the rice. The pulled pork was similar to the ribs in that they were very tender and soaked in the the carolina bbq sauce . Ordered the collard greens as a side which were relatively standard fare. Overall pretty quality bbq, pork done right- especially if you enjoy the south carolina vinegar based bbq sauce .
