Great Hot n' Sour soup!! Really nice great service as well! Will be back for more. Have yet to try the Cow Fun but the Beef and broccoli was good. Also had the fried rice with pork, good size chunks of pork! read more

As a fine connoisseur of American Chinese food, particularly General Chicken. This place has been hyped up to me by many. I have to say it wasnt the best "even in town." But it was pretty good. Everything was decent and we didnt finish dinner disappointed. There is a better place here in town, but then that will be for another review. read more

So my favorite Chinese restaurant closed and I thought my world was caving in!!!!! Then one glorious day a coworker and I decide to go to lunch. I was telling her about my favorite Chinese restaurant closing and she asked me if I had ever been to the Iron Wok. I said no and she insisted it was sooo incredible! Ok I said and we went. I ordered my favorite Honey Walnut Prawns. I can't tell you how happy I was. The shrimp was lightly breaded. The sweet cream sauce was just pure comfort and the sweet crunchy walnuts were so freaking good! Days have gone by and I am getting ready to leave the next day to a Slayer show and didn't want to cook dinner. I thought man Chinese sounds amazing. I thought oh yeah the Iron Wok!!!! I ordered my favorite, some Generals chicken , veggie chow mein and crab rangoons! My world has started to take back its form and I am now proud to say Iron Wok is now my favorite Chinese restaurant!!!!!!! read more

What a great place. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Every plate was excellent. I noticed they didn't have Oyster Beef and asked. The response was "I make it for you with mushroom and Zucchini". It was just excellent. Lady who took order was excellent. It has taken awhile to find good Chinese food in the area. I'm 100% going back. read more

I went the first week they were open. Fresh food, great ingredients, great service. I ordered the Broccoli Beef... Good, but not great. I wish they could have done something original to give them a 5th star. If I were to say something to the owners, it would be: 'Feel free to do something different with a typical Americanized dish. It would be great to find a plate that was exceptional. Offer a spicy option for all your entrees, please. (?) This might give you the edge you need. You are surrounded by at least 3 other Chinese restaurants; 2 are inferior and one is exceptional. You have a great location, and your pricing reflects that...if nothing else, to cover the lease. Make this location work and be all you can be.' read more

We always order to go and the food is always ready super fast! Enjoyed the food and they also include a soup to go! Hubby's fav is the Kung Pao Chicken and I get Beef and Broccoli. The lady that works the front is very friendly as well! read more

My family has been going to Iron Wok for many years, actually about 10 years now ever since they were in Elk Grove. We have always received a warm welcome and fresh, hot, and amazing food every single visit. When we found out they moved to Placerville we now drive up there from Elk Grove a few times a month just to eat there. It is that good and the owners are nice people. I would and do recommend them to all my family and friends. read more

Amazing food especially for the price! Love coming to this little restaurant Downton placerville!

This establishment is probably the best Chinese cuisine by far in Placerville in a long time. I have only ordered on line or pu to bring home. I have lived in Placerville for over 45 years and have eaten at many Chinese restaurants. Please keep using Door Dash for your delivery. Thank you Dave read more

My new fav Chinese. Fantastic food (walnut shrimp is outta this world) and the owner is simply the nicest lady in the world. Chicken and mushroom so yummy. Love! read more

Excellent addition to the Placerville dining scene. The food was excellent, the ingredients fresh, the noodles delicious, the veggie rolls were not greasy, and the owners were pleasant. As always, the Kung Pao Chicken is just never spicy enough and one must ask for them to notch it up. I don't know why, but for some reason most Chinese restaurants think a little spicy is too spicy. I think they're trying to cater to the weakest of palettes. (Bring it on!) It was nice to see white meat chicken in the Kung Pao and full sized shrimp in their house rice. I found the Mongolian Beef to be outstanding with tender beef and the onions cooked to perfection. Been in the Placerville area for 10 years and this is the best Chinese cuisine by far. read more

Best Chinese food in Placerville, hands down! Owners were originally from Elk Grove & now we get to enjoy their wonderful awesome food here! Yeah for us! We shared a side of Honey Walnut Prawns and they not only melt in your mouth, they are huge! I had the most succulent orange Chicken, all white meat & the owner told us they do not freeze their meat, it's all fresh. My honey had the Mongolian Chicken & said it was out of this world! They give you so much food that we had to happily bring some home. So if you're hungry for some excellent Chinese food then I highly recommend going to the Iron Wok. read more

This place is the best, we drove all the way from Elk Grove to eat here. Where they were for 10 years. What is Elk Grove loss is Placerville's gain. Very friendly service and food is A1 +++. We will be back it was worth the drive. read more

What a fresh surprise. We ordered multiple dinners because it was our first time and We wanted a good sampling. The crab Rangoon is unbelievable. The best I've had in many years. We ordered the Mongolian beef, which will be our go to from now on at this restaurant, amazing. We also ordered the chicken with vegetables, I hope you have a lot of friends to eat this because it is huge and also simple and delicious. Everything is very fresh, give it a try, you won't be disappointed. What a great addition to Placerville read more

I had a really outstanding experience at Iron Wok. I was directed to a combo meal when I mentioned that I was extremely hungry. It was more than enough food and all tasty while seeming to be of a higher quality than what's at many other Chinese restaurants. The service was polite, playful, and measured. I sat at the counter and enjoyed a relaxing break from sightseeing. Reasonable prices, too. read more

Delicious. Every dish was great. Great service, very friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to returning. Thanks!

We had the Mongolian beef and the house fried rice. Outstanding in every aspect. The beef was melt in your mouth and the fried rice had a wonderful authentic flavor. Service was friendly and attentive. Nice atmosphere (clean white tablecloths and the roar of wok flame). read more

So happy to have a delicious Chinese food spot up the hill! We go here weekly now! :)

Went to lunch at Iron Wok in Placerville the other day. Both my boyfriend and I each got the 11$ all day entree special. Each item was delicious, fresh and they give you very generous portions. We will be back! read more

Tastes extremely fresh and homemade! The owners put in a lot of work into the atmosphere to make it feel more like a restaurant than the previous establishment. Highly recommend! Great service as well. read more

My husband, mother and I ate there Saturday night. We were the only ones there when we arrived, actually quite impressed by the white tablecloths and decor. I was disappointed that I could not substitute chow mein for the rice, but I understood. Each plate was delivered separately, they must make them individually and I appreciate them wanting us to have our food right away. We enjoyed the food, many more people came in the restaurant in the course of our eating. There are 2 main reasons for the mediocre score I gave: The owner/waitress started clearing the table before my mother was finished eating, I mentioned it and then the waitress noticed and asked if she was finished and of course my mother said she was done. We got our checks, we paid by credit card, mother paid separately and by cash. Her change was given, she placed her tip on the tray and covered the tray with her to go bag. The waitress came over, lifted the bag and took the tray with the tip, she couldn't even wait for us to leave!!! We all sat there looking at each other got up and left. We won't return. read more

I have reviewed several restaurants in Placerville, never giving 5 stars -- as none earned them. This place really does. The food shows the "art" and skill of the chef. Everything is done masterfully. The family run place comes to us from Elk Grove (10 years there) and the experience shows. Vegetables are not too raw or too done.. the FLAVOR is there in everything, ---- the noodles (chow fun) are just the right velvety-but-firm-not-limp texture that you only get from skilled cooks. I thought I'd be taking half of mine home for later but I could NOT stop having one more bite till it was gone ! We both ordered shrimp and it can be easily overcooked and rubbery/hard..... but this was perfect ! The decor is just right, pleasant, quiet elegance, the service was quick and friendly, and the location is even easy access. We took paper menus home so we could order take-out ! We are both so happy to find a place this good in our town ! Try it --- you'll be glad you did. My new favorite. :), read more
