Stuck at the Iron Skillet during one of the rare snowfalls in Kingman AZ area. After witnessing cars flying off the road-I pulled into Iron Skillet and waited for road conditions to improve. It is a classical diner located inside the gas station/truck stop. Large seating area, friendly waitress. Only few electric outlets and no WiFi. Food is typical of a truck stop. Hearty and greasy but that doesn't need to be bad in general. However here food was less than stellar! I ordered initially meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. Greens beans were under cooked and stringy. Meatloaf tasted as it was a week old. Mashed potato was great. Nonetheless - I sent it back. Instead I ordered a very simple entree. Two eggs over medium two sausage links and hash browns. Toast came with it...it was just all right. Mostly greasy - but I had nowhere to go, and this is the best they can do. Waitress was nice about it and she made it better... Would I come back -- not without another strange situation: snow storm, zombie attack, or alien invasion....

Stopped in for gas on our way back from Vegas, and decided to grab something to eat in the Iron Skillet. I wish we hadn't. The waitress, Susan, was very nice and quick. However, the food was not good. I will make a pass next time, and just grab a pack of crackers from the convience store.

We needed a quick lunch on a road trip. It's a typical Iron Skillet - the tables are a little worn and have a strange color because of the metal on the skillets. But otherwise clean. Their Southwest buttermilk chicken sandwiches were quite good - the side salad was good and the tots were crispy. Service was great!

I'm not a fan of Iron Skillet but I wanted to try their new dish- Steak Rice Bowl. It was surprisingly good. I like the sweet & zingy flavor. Nice friendly servers. Presentation has never been their strong suit but here's a photo of the dish.

The check out desk at the restaurant has candy that I'm shocked to see still exists. Candy cigarettes.

Just stopped to gas up and piddle. It looks good. We would eat if we had just eaten a few miles down the road. People are friendly here and say hey. They have candy that I didn't even know was still being manufactured.

We always have great meals whenever we stop at this Iron Skillet. I usually get the fish and chips basket because for some reason the fish here just tastes better than at any other iron Skillet Restaurant I've eaten at. My husband always gets the chicken tender basket since that's his favorite. The crew is always so friendly and make us feel so welcomed when we come by. Excellent service! Can't wait to come here again!

Breakfast is not good here. Smelled good but didn't taste good. It was gross. Not sure about their dinner options.

I love chicken fried steak so I ordered it à la carte with extra extra gravy. It was perfect and so delicious I was suddenly hungry after my first bite. I can see the appeal of this place and I understand why customers were not in favor of modernizing. It's perfect just as it is. Please note the TAKE HOME MEALS in picture. Seems like a nice deal. I've thought about the hash brown casserole for years and looked forward to satisfying my hunger for the potato casserole. I was extremely disappointed when I saw the "casserole" come to the table. Shredded potatoes?? What the heck? The waitress confirmed the recipe had changed. They were dry and unappealing. The waitress saw the displeasure on my face and asked several times if I wanted to replace them. I declined. I was really looking forward to the potato casserole. The restaurant ambience was as remembered and the staff were all very nice and friendly. My son enjoyed his food as he had the 4 piece fried chicken dinner with three sides. Note the sides are much smaller as I remembered them to be. Mac n cheese was good but not the same. I guess costs and overhead are cutting into food quality. Sadly I won't be returning to any Cracker Barrel in any state, unless the original casserole recipe is brought back. But I'm one person and don't think the casserole will return.
