I'm so happy we found this gem. When on road trip we always try to find good diners and this one is definitely one of those. First time I had chicken fried chicken. Wow the white gravy was so super delis and the chicken was crispy, fresh. You get a soup or a salad with it. The chicken marinara with pasta was also Yumm! We were full but their desserts looked so good and they are smart, they place it right in front of you in a napkin dispenser with pictures. Haha We took a cheese cake with raspberry! Oh my! We stop in here now and again when we are heading somewhere. It's a truck stop mostly, all kinda cool things to look at in the attached store. It's hardy food they serve here, they have a small buffet and a salad bar. You get big portions and I like that! Julie has a chicken sandwich and I had a French toast breakfast. It's good food! They take time to make sure the place is clean and homey because truckers are never home. They have great shakes here with real scooped ice cream! The price you pay for the food is almost like to give me the kids plate 20 bucks for five nuggets And the water like a 12 ounce cup $20. It wouldn't work but 10. Not worth the price one person serving you one person working in the back cooking the food that's a pitiful place. You could've went to court street gang got more for your buck at the waffle house. I ordered smashed and gravy, I got baked potato, I ordered none sweeten tea I got sweeten tea, I ordered green beans I got a salad. She said she forgot, I guess I'll follow her example and forget to tip her. I asked the server she said it's been a rough day and she gave me a discount. They were out of vegetables.. I never thought I would be making this review. However the 3 managers ( tall black guy, John, & and the beautiful Hispanic lady and our waitress and those tending the buffet were all absolutely excellent! Everything about this location makes us (husband/wife team) drivers want to return. We were kind of hesitant... but they convinced us that the food and service was excellent... and it was! Well, currently it's the only breakfast buffet in the area, until the new big buffet opens. Located in a truck stop environment, The Iron Skillet is still inviting and friendly. We had the breakfast buffet and my son had a chicken sandwich... which he really enjoyed. In hindsight, we all should have ordered from the menu. It's not that the buffet was bad... it was just bland and unimpressive. I couldn't even convince the kids to get pancakes a second time to make the purchase price worthy. My husband and I stopped here just before 7 AM on a Monday, looking forward to a decent meal we could get quickly and get back on the road. I got the special - 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, and a hot cake. The "iron" skillets weren't - more like pewter or aluminum, and didn't do much to keep the food warm. My basted eggs were perfectly cooked, but barely lukewarm. After waiting for about 30 minutes for our meal, I wasn't about to send them back. The hot cake wasn't bad, but when it was brought to the table, I was told they were out of syrup. Really? My husband ordered the chicken and mushroom omelette, well-browned home fries, and a biscuit. The omelette was hot and loaded with chicken, could have used a bit more seasoning, but good. Home fries were decent - not browned but decent - and the biscuit was good. Our server (who turned out to be the cook as well) was Keshall and is the main reason this isn't a one-star review. She was pleasant, and helpful, but really, Petro, a cook needs to cook and a server, serve. You can't expect good reviews if your cook can't stay in the kitchen. read more

I always like this chain when I was a trucker. They always have a good hot breakfast. Well I usually have the biscuits and gravy. My favorite. Today I ventured out and had the chicken fried steak and eggs. They came out hot and fresh and hit the spot. If your on the road and want a good meal drop in and chick this place out. Where do I begin with this place. It's freaking horrible and it's not because it's a truckstop because I have eaten at other places along the road and they're freaking amazing. First of all the waitress was rude because I tried to clean the table so we could sit and she called my attention saying I have the towel on my hand ( with an attitude) we sat ...and ordered..... my husband ordered a steak with vegetables and I ordered chicken fried chicken With a loaded baked potato. After a good amount of time we asked her why was the food taking so long and she replied that it was because of the steak that it was medium well so we needed to wait until it was done and it was taking longer than expected ( honestly this didn't make any sense since it was a Medium Well steak should be fast) We waited a good hour for our food, when it finally arrived it was stone cold my husband steak which it was supposed to be medium-well and juicy was dry and completely tasteless, we asked why she didn't bring the vegetables and she replied that they ran out ( she didn't tell us and she just assumed he wanted a cold nasty potato ). When it came to my order .... she brought stake ! Not chicken! She said that I pointed to the wrong picture . Now ! If I pointed stake but I said CHICKEN as a waitress it's your job to correct me and let me know .... ask me what I really want before You bring my order. Ohhhh and the LOADED baked potato? Hahaha it was cold as hell and plane ! I asked her if that was it she said she was cooking the bacon and the cheese so she could bring it later. The food was horrible, we barely ate . We ate breakfast here around 5am. The food wasn't outstanding, but it was edible and the place appeared to be clean. They were in the process of preparing for the 6am buffet so they were not the most attentive staff. It is officially another breakfast spot I can cross of my list. I don't have to return. First off ask for Deanna she is awesome and is one of the best servers I've ever had. Thus is beacause water was at our table before she even ask for our drink order.
