So, imagine my excitement when I saw a sign outside Iron Agave advertising $10 burritos! It seemed like a perfect opportunity to try a place I'd been meaning to visit. Sadly, what unfolded was nothing short of a culinary disaster. When I walked in at 7:30 on a Wednesday night, I was surprised to find the restaurant nearly empty--just two tables seated and no one at the bar. That alone should have been a red flag. Curious, I asked the bartender why there wasn't a line around the block for $10 burritos. She had no answer. Things started promisingly when she explained I could choose any protein for my burrito, including grilled shrimp, which normally costs $17. Shrimp in a $10 burrito? That sounded too good to be true. And as I learned, it was. After waiting 25 minutes, the burrito finally arrived. The bartender apologized for the delay and thanked me for my patience, which only heightened my anticipation. Surely, such a wait meant they were preparing something extraordinary, right? Wrong. The burrito was an absolute insult to Mexican cuisine--or to food in general. When I cut into it, I was appalled to find over a pound of plain, unseasoned rice that tasted as if it came straight from a discount freezer bag. And the shrimp? If you can even call it that--tiny, rubbery, dime-sized morsels that resembled fishing bait more than food. Worse still, there were only 2-3 ounces of shrimp in the entire burrito. The quality was so abysmal it felt like a cruel joke. I assumed these low-grade shrimp were reserved for the $10 special, but when I asked the bartender, I was horrified to learn that this is the same shrimp used in their $17 burrito. So, whether you pay $10 or $17, you're being served the same subpar, borderline-inedible excuse for shrimp. As a passionate gourmet cook and someone who has traveled extensively, I can confidently say this: Iron Agave has no business serving food. Dining here felt like being taken advantage of in the worst possible way. It's not just bad--it's an insult to anyone who walks through their doors. Iron Agave has earned the dubious honor of being the worst restaurant I've encountered in Upstate New York, and that's saying something. Do yourself a favor: AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. read more

We took my daughter and two of her friends out for dinner last night. The waitress was super friendly, quick service and great with recommendations. The food came out hot. The drinks were delicious. Had a reservation here for months on end, called multiple times to confirm and was told that it was confirmed. called the night of my reservation, and was told it wasn't in the system. I spoke to the manager who was completely unprofessional, and audibly flustered, you could tell this manager was unprofessional because of the rudeness in his voice, offered no help in any way and claimed we were lying about making the reservation, straight up rude. Usually love this place but this really left a bad taste in my mouth. figure it out. read more

After dining here a couple times I would say that it's fine but not great. The first time we dined here was on a Saturday night when they first opened. It was incredibly loud, to the point where we couldn't even hear each other across the table. I got the tacos and my husband ordered the burger. We both really enjoyed the food and drinks but hated the loud atmosphere and slow service. We decided that we would give it another try. My family and I dined here more recently during Restaurant Week and came early to avoid the super loud atmosphere. We really enjoyed the empanadas, chicken tortilla soup, and salsa. The chimichangas were very good, but the rest of our entrees were decidedly bland. The chicken al pastor and burrito bowl really lacked flavor. We did enjoy our desserts of churros and cheesecake bars. Service was extremely slow, and it took almost two hours for our meal when we arrived right when they opened and the place was almost empty. Overall, this restaurant is just okay. I would dine here again if someone invited me, but there are too many better restaurants in the area for me to choose to spend my money here. read more

We didn't reserve in advance on a Saturday eve (our mistake!) and so we chose to sit at the bar. Had a DELICIOUS and lovely meal nonetheless. The beef birria tacos were just plain outstanding. Spouse had the steak tacos and loved them as well. Margaritas were perfect. Excellent selection of mezcals. Our bartender/server even gave us a pair of free Dos Hombres glasses to take home after he realized we were fans. Next time we're in Binghamton we will DEFINITELY eat here. No question! read more

I wish I could give this place more than 2 stars but it takes 30 minutes to get a server to greet you and ask what you'd like to drink. 1st time this happened and I just thought, "well, they are new and the servers are too". 2nd time was at 7pm and they were busy, so ok no big deal. We are now months into opening and I go to Happy Hour and there is 1 server for the entire place. It takes 30 minutes for someone to ask you for your drink order. Bush league restaurant management. Service is a 1 food is a 2. Los Tapatios and El Pulpo so much better for service, and food honestly. read more

This is real good. The top line margarita is delicious as is the mescal (I had to try both). Carole had the Mahi-Mahi mole which was fantastic. Had a reservation and waited half an hour at the bar before asking if we'd be sat anytime soon. hostess said "I guess I can seat you" when our reservation was booked for half an hour earlier! we then waited half an hour for one appetizer, and over an hour for our food. waitress stopped at our table maybe four times? ended up getting entrees to go and when we got home, one entree was cold in the middle and we found a piece of plastic in the other entree. manager stopped by tables and didn't offer any apologies or solutions, just said "everyone has been waiting for their food." extremely disappointing. will not go back. read more
