The lady on the phone assured him that the cab will be there. The cab never showed up, he called the office and the lady told him that the cab should be there and she is not able to call the driver because the driver doesn't have a phone and there is no way to contact him. I was also concerned that the driver was frequently distracted by his phone-making calls and texts, as well as scrolling-for much of the drive. It was a very disheartening experience, and I believe it could have been avoided if the driver had been more attentive. Based on this experience, I won't be using South Bend Taxi again. EDIT: I've read the owner's response and would like to clarify a few points. The accident occurred on an empty street around 5:30 AM with no traffic, and I was the one who contacted the police. We resumed our trip after the officer arrived and the police report was completed, as the officer said that an insurance claim couldn't be filed if the driver left prior to completion. I can't say I noticed if the neighborhood was "sketchy" as the response claims, but I'm also not certain I see how it's related to the incident. While I've had several successful rides with this company in the past, I've consistently observed drivers using their phones directly in hand, not via Bluetooth. Regarding reimbursement, I had not been informed of any prior to reading this reply; the owner simply asked me to reach out, and when I called, I received no response. Unfortunately, the company's reply seems to misrepresent the situation at certain points.
