Ignore the comment in the review that says the service is slow and forgetful. They must have replaced that server with the current batch of pleasant, helpful and relaxed yet efficient staff.
I normally give Irish bars a very wide berth but for reasons I don't need to bore you with I was utterly consumed by the though of a Guinness watching the world go by on the waterfront.
The Guinness was alright!
But the food was better!!!
For starters I had a flame grilled chorizo. The scoop here is that they bring a clay pot with oil in the bottom and a (big) chorizo balanced on bars sitting over the oil. Then they light the oil and step away from the flames to leave you char grill the outside yourself. Innovative and very tasty.
For mains a Portuguese Burger. Now I didn't know they do burgers differently in Portugal. The scoop here is a burger (meat bit only) sat in a wide bowl with ham and a fried egg on top. A broth/liquor is poured around it. Flavoured with garlic and bay, but with a sour aftertaste. The plate is then filled with massive crisps and little pieces of cauliflower, carrot and chilli are scattered over it. If this really is how the Portuguese eat their burgers, it is no wonder Ronaldo is always smiling!!
Good value too!! read more
