Echoing all the other reviewers here, Iris and her team are absolutely fantastic, and they stock beautiful, high-quality bras for women of all sizes. I went to Iris Lingerie yesterday because it had been several years since I'd last been fitted for a bra, and hey, the body changes over time as we all know. The experience was awesome. It was the most comfortable, least awkward bra shopping experience I've ever had, and I found out that I've been wearing the wrong bra size for a long time. Oops! I walked away with two awesome new bras that actually fit me (wow, what a difference to not have the girls drooping down my chest!), and while they were fairly pricey, Iris presented me with a bunch of different options at different price points that worked, so I felt like I had a lot of choices when I made my final decision. This was particularly great, because as a bigger busted woman, I often run into trouble finding any options, and that's if a store stocks my size at all. I would have given 5 stars if there was better customer service. I had been there 3 years earlier and felt the same way. I went back though because I really liked the bras I had purchased there. Of course this time they were discontinued lol. But I wound up buying 2 new ones. Iris looks like she doesn't have a large selection but she actually does. The only issue I had was that I felt she did not spend enough time with me , she literally just gave me bras to try on and didn't refit me from a few years ago. I look about ten pounds slimmer thanks to Iris fitting me for a fantastic new bra. If you are challenging to fit, this is where you need to be shopping. The best part is they will tailor your bras for the absolute best fit. I won't trust my boobs to anyone else! I also got a great swimsuit from there that I had custom fit to me. Iris took one look at me and knew my bra size, my weight, my astrological sign, and what I had eaten for breakfast the day before. She's that good. Well maybe not that good that she defied all normal boundaries of what a stranger could know by looking at you but she she knew I wasn't wearing the right bra and went to work passing me half a dozen bras my way to try on. At some point she picked up my bra and threatened to throw it out (I'm pretty sure she would have even if I hadn't bought a new one). I didn't let her which might have made her sad but the fact that I promised to not wear it again in the near future overshadowed my choice to hold on to it. Her wares are a little pricey but considering how happy I am with my purchases I think it's okay that I splurged. I think if there were an equation for bras it would look like: 3 Victoria's Secret Bras: 1 really solid well built bra. I just had the BEST bra experience of my life with Iris. I have always had problems with bras - I am narrow but have a large bust. But working with Iris, I felt comfortable and she made finding a bra seem easy breezy! I came in with a bridesmaid dress and a needed something really specific. I was dreading finding a bra - but Iris took one look at me and gave me 2-3 options immediately. They fit GREAT. She is truly magical, and FOR ONCE I cannot wait to go back and to go bra shopping at Iris'!! I cannot gush enough. I'm the creature who buys 5 of the same thing at Victoria's Secret, wears them out. Wears them OUT. only to find the style discontinued when it's time for more. This place offers a free custom fitting w/ every purchase. I've never had a fitting before, but Norma was AWESOME. She helped me find 4 bras with all the things I told her I was searching for AND she did it insanely fast. Cool thing is, the shop invites you to come back (they recommend 6 months) to see how your bras are fitting and to do alterations on the straps if necessary to keep them fitting. Sweet! Norma asked if I'd like to wear one of the new bras out, so I did...and threw the one I wore in into the trash. I was not the first to leave a ratty ill fitter behind in the bin. read more

Bra fitting is a dying art/profession. Made the trip all the way from Westchester County to see Iris in Brooklyn. Totally worth the trip. I'm not giving one star because I try to be fair and rate both service and knowledge. I was "lucky" enough to be treated by Iris herself. She must have thought I looked very poor because she was incredibly unpleasant. I came in looking for a strapless bra, something I wear once every few months and explained that to her. I was told I would be getting the bra I was getting no matter how much it cost, she then snapped that sizings were only free if I bought a bra. I came in pretty set on buying a bra so didn't immediately leave. I should have but I'd read the reviews and came in expecting good things and thought maybe I was misreading her attitude. She had me try on a strapless bra and I got one I liked enough to buy. I then asked to try on a regular bra. She handed me one that fit and I gave it back to her explaining that maybe I'd get it another day but I came in today for the strapless. She then exclaimed that my bra was way too big. I asked her what size the one I'd just put on was. She snarled, I kid you not, snarled, that she wasn't telling me because she was tired of people being told their size and then buying a bra elsewhere. I stared at her dumbfoundedly thinking, but I am buying a bra from you, just not that one.... I'm such a nonconfrontational person that I didn't say anything and ended up buying the bra I'd gone in there to buy but I just need to warn other people. A visit to Iris was at the top of my "to-do once I'm vaccinated" list. If you have gained weight during the pandemic, you need a new bra! Don't be in pain with the wrong size. If you have not seen other people in a year, you need a new bra to make you feel confident and beautiful! Seriously I feel like a new woman. I walked out of there with 5 beautiful, high quality bras ranging from sexy and lacy, suportive and practical to total comfort, all in my new size. I must preface this by saying I NEVER write reviews, but my experience with Norma at Iris Lingerie definitely warrants one. I went in after reading incredible reviews about women who have had religious experiences with their custom fittings at Iris's and I'm not gonna lie, I was semi-skeptical, but WOW. All I can say is WOW. I feel like a brand new woman. I've been wearing the wrong bra ever since I could buy a bra and when I say wrong, I mean WAY wrong. My boobs feel amazing now. Who knew I was a DD. Jesus. I've been wearing a 34 B/C and Norma fitted me as a 30DD and you know what, she was absolutely RIGHT. I couldn't believe how great my breasts felt AND looked when she had me try my t-shirt on with a new bra. Needless to say, I ended up making a few different purchases (4 bras total). SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ELSEWHERE UNLESS YOU ENJOY BEING PATRONIZED! Like many of you, I read all the positive press on Iris and knew that a bra fitting would be life changing for me. I recently lost a decent amount of weight and was definitely in the market to stock up on bras. I called the shop to make an appointment and it was possibly the rudest person I've ever interacted with on the other end. And guess who it was? Iris herself. Regardless, I wanted to give her benefit of the doubt. You never know what someone was experiencing that morning. When I arrived to the shop, I was greeted by someone (I'm not sure what her name is, but she is a big part of the story). I showed her my vaccination card before I could get fitted and she asked: "Are you EVEN wearing a bra?" with the most condescending face and tone. I was. And I said I was. In that moment, I tried to stay composed. Bra fittings are such an intimate experience and if you have no psychological safety, I don't care if the store is endorsed by the New York Times or the Pope himself. What an incredibly rude thing to say to a patron. I didn't tell the girl at the front desk that she looked like a combination of a pasty, orphaned Victorian child and liberal arts grad with six figure debt and daddy issues--did I? No. Because some things should be kept to yourself. Whoops. I am really proud of myself for telling her that I was uncomfortable and that Iris would not have my business today. If that was the girl at the front desk, I could only imagine how insufferable Iris herself is. Instead, I went to WeFit near grand central station. It was an incredible experience and I would recommend it over anyone Iris' pathetic excuse of a business. Just because you got some good press a few years ago doesn't grant you or your staff to be so insufferable! read more

This wonderful shop is right below where I am getting my wedding dress. I went today to get a bra to wear to wear to the wedding, and actually ended up buying four. Norma, who helped me, was amazing. She took one look at me, and selected a perfectly-fitting bra on the first try that wouldn't show with the dress. Also, I discovered I had been wearing the wrong size for years. I decided to buy a few more to replace my current poorly-fitting ones, and she pulled out several more that I ended up loving as well. Norma, and other people working there that occasionally offered an opinion or some advice, were so knowledgeable, and clearly care about sending you away with something properly-fitting and flattering. They also do alterations- one of the bras I purchased has straps that fit perfectly for now at their tightest, and if they ever stretch out too much I can take it back to have them altered for $2. It was the really the fastest and most successful lingerie-shopping trip I have ever experienced and I felt completely comfortable the whole time. read more

I tried on a few bras and decided on two that gave my "J" cup sized breasts the perfect lift and hold. I was Soo happy with my purchases and the services I recieved I grabbed Ms. Iris And Norma and hugged them before my departure. I spoke to the young lady on the phone and she said it's okay to come when I got there the older lady came out and said that I need an appt she is not staying late to help with a bra. I had high hopes for my visit to Iris, because of a stellar neighborhood reputation and eagerness to get good quality, well fitting bras. I left without making a purchase because none of the bras Iris had me try on felt sufficiently comfortable. I felt badgered when discussing my concerns; she didn't want to show me sports bras after trying on t-shirt bras because I didn't agree to make a purchase and the fittings are free with purchase and that people come in and use her expertise and then go buy bras on-line. I said that had not occurred to me and I would be more inclined to return if she showed me the sports bra while I was still there. She gave in and had me try on a couple. The bras were great quality but did not fit me comfortably; I got the feeling from things she said to her assistant that she was trying to talk me into sizes she had on hand and that she was out of the size that I might have felt fit me better. She told me the sports bra I was wearing did not support me properly - when I told her I did feel supported and that it was pretty comfortable, she projected an attitude that I didn't know what was right for me, that she did, and I was a fool for not trusting her. After reading other unfavorable reviews here, I see that I am not alone in having had such an experience. SO disappointed. read more

Visited Iris and her niece again last Sunday and a 10/10 experience once again (Thanks Michelle!). I walked in an after a bit of conversation, Iris and Michelle remembered me from my first visit back in February. This time I needed a strapless bra with straps that could be taken off and put back on as well as a bathing suit. The store was pretty busy for a Sunday afternoon! But Michelle stayed attentive and helped me fit bras and a bathing suit. I will be going back once more for another bathing suit next month and possibly another new bra. read more

Ladies....Iris is doing the work of God here in Brooklyn. .I do not say that lightly. This was seriously the best experience I ever had. PSA: No one is wearing the right size bra so get with it. All these mall bra stores SUCK. This place is worth coming no matter what, but especially if you have a big chest like me. I feel like a brand new person. Threw out my bra at the store, wore one home, came home and threw out every one I had. Left with three bras and spent around 230$ that's an average of 80$ a bra and worth every single penny. You are paying for what you get ... plus how much cheaper are bras everywhere else anyway? Not much... so why even waste your money. I ended up with a size 36 K and these bras aren't just amazing quality and fit well but they are pretty!! These are not your grandmas bras.. Go to Iris and I swear your life will change. Five Stars, two times over, for both Iris and Norma! I still can't believe that all of my bust issues were solved in a single glance by Norma. I kid you not when I say she scored a home run on the first try. I still can't believe it....no more side boobs, underneath boobs and lack of support. I'm not too shy to say I learned that I am a 32J....not 40G!! The size options at the Department Stores assume that if your cup size is a G, you must have a broad back. I am so happy to have found a boutique that caters to my unique needs. Iris and Norma were easygoing, professional and quite knowledgable of their merchandise! I have difficulty finding bras that are comfortable and give me nipple coverage so saw good reviews for this place. It was a bit hard to find at first since it's in the basement of another shop next door. Anyways, when I got there, they told me it was a free fitting with purchase. My mistake: should've checked the prices of the bras... I stepped in the back and she definitely knows what works for your breasts just by looking at them quickly. She asked what was comfortable or what style you like. After about 10/15 minutes, she picked out 3 bras for me. When I got to the front to pay, the total came out to $224.00. I was in shock! Yes, I'll agree I'm not that type of woman that spends a lot of bras, but I'm all for paying a bit extra for quality. BUT $224.00 FOR 3 BRAS? That's just completely unbelievable. And of course, you can't pay for the fitting by itself. So I purchased the cheapest one ($58.00). I don't know, I'm all for paying for quality but I didn't expect to walk into a small shop on Atlantic Avenue and leave with $224.00 for 3 bras. That's not me. I got to a point where my boobs were hurting because of ill fitted bras. I was in NY on business and found Iris through a google search. I loved that it was a woman owned business! I went there immediately! Iris took one look at me and knew I was in the wrong bra. In fact, she didn't measure me at all, she literally picked a bra for me and when I put it on, it was the best I've felt in a bra ever! I was taking deeper breaths and just felt amazing! Turns out I was 1 band size too big and 2 cups too small! Yikes! But with the right size and a good variety of styles in the colors I wanted, I threw my original bra in the garbage during my fittings and walked out with 6 bras from Iris! Run over there! I just had a wonderful fitting with Ms. Iris Clarke. She is a masterful bra fitter and so much fun to spend time with. I have been fitted, I have purchased expensive and even custom-made bras. But I have never found a bra that fits like the three I bought today at Iris. Norma fitted me and knew exactly what I needed. I came to Iris because my friend didn't want to have to travel to Bratenders in the city and she thought it was better to support local business. Agree. The staff at Iris is professional and kind, but Iris herself makes you feel uncomfortable because she can be pretty abrasive and pushy. I understand that fitting someone costs her time and she definitely has expertise. So, it would be messed up to use her service and walk out empty handed. That's poor etiquette. Bratenders says you don't have to make a purchase, but I always buy at least one bra when I visit. They have a $200 penalty if you miss your fitting. Fair. Don't miss it or you know what you're in for. Iris has probably had people come in, use her expertise, and walk out to buy the bras they are fitted for elsewhere at a lower price. So, set a policy where the appointment costs X amount and you can deduct that from bra purchase or require one bra purchase, at minimum, per appointment. That's fair. Everyone can learn those rules. Instead she has these angry signs up and complains the whole fitting about these etiquetteless people that seem to walk into her store and makes you feel like you're there to waste her time and cheat her and buy bras elsewhere. First of all, you can't stop that. I can buy a bra or 2, figure out the size because I bought it and then go buy that size in that bra company and line/style. It doesn't take a genius and can happen anywhere. But, she guilt trips you the whole time and it is so uncomfortable. The first time it was annoying, but second time I brought her a friend (I brought her business) she didn't just complain and accuse people of using her, she insisted my friend couldn't just buy 1 bra. She had to buy 2. I know my friend was going to buy a bra, but now you're going to dictate how many? I felt bad because I saw my friend looking all types of uncomfortable and I had brought her there. My friend told me afterwards that Iris tried to push her to buy 2 but she managed to find a way to push back and buy just the 1 she wanted. But the crazy thing was, Iris also brought a garbage bag and told her to throw out the bra she walked in with. Multiple times. My friend said she felt cajoled into doing so. She didn't want to throw it out--we all have eh bras that we can still make use of until they die out. Not a perfectly fitted bra but not in bad condition. My friend threw her bra out but was so upset after and so was I. I agreed we would never go back. And anyone who has tried Bratenders and Iris says the same. I hate to say all of this because I believe in supporting local business, especially those owned by women of color. But, Iris is unprofessional and needs to figure out how to change her policies to protect her business while also giving professional service to customers. I'm not a business expert, but whatever she has going on right now isn't working. I hope she's able to fix these issues and I wish her much success, but I have no plans of going back or bringing friends. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is her expertise. Otherwise I'd give 1 or none. We are still upset about the experience and I hope this review helps change how she runs her business. Ps. Some bra company stores and high end department stores do complimentary fittings. Call and ask and check their policies. See what works for you. It is worth being properly fitted. Like review on 05/08/2014, I would also like to give this place zero stars My favorite bra store on 5th ave in Park Slope closed. A friend recommended this store for large sizes. I am 34F which means I always get sized before I buy a bra. I went in and was told free sizing is only done with the purchase of a bra. I said that is a little backwards isn't it? Being a large size doesn't mean I want an ugly bra and I found very few stores have bright beautiful bras in larger sizes. I expressed this and asked how much a sizing is just in case I didn't the the bra. The owner or so I assume came out and with a somewhat hostile attitude explained that many people come in get sized and don't buy a bra so since then they only do free sizing with purchase of the bra. This does not answer question of how much a sizing in. This is a backwards solution to solving the online problem. So you have three ladies standing around, no customers and you can't size. What cost are you loosing by performing free sizes. Absolutely none. You have a 50/50 chance I may find a bra I like by performing a free sizing but no chance when pressuring me to buy something. I left the store. I have no patience for a place with no customer service. I was a regular at the 5th ave lingerie store and the ladies new me. This place which is obviously going to go under just lost a new regular. I feel for the women working there who will loose their jobs because of an owners attempt to control purchases online. read more

This is my first yelp review which I write because I had such a disappointing experience. Rather than talk to me about what I should look for in a bra, Iris said there's too much to explain, so just trust her. Rather than fitting the bra to my body (I'm 24 - a 32C - 115 lbs!) any issue was not the fault of the bra, but of my body! Extra skin emerging the from bra cup? That's because the cup is cut low. Skin above the underarm band? Why don't I exercise? She and her assistant kept telling me they already gave me a bra that fit perfectly. Why am I still there? After 5 minutes in the dressing room, they wanted me to buy some bras and leave. I asked for other styles. They obliged me, but the whole experience was rushed and unprofessional. If you want to indulge in a bra fitting, go elsewhere -- beware, you have to promise you'll buy a bra in order to be fitted in the first place. read more
