Well- I thought I would try it. A large oxtail dinner gets you 4 small bony oxtail pieces (3.5 in my box). The flavor was okay but the vibe in there was off when walked in. Totally empty and they acted like I was bothering them when I ordered. I asked for extra gravy and she put maybe half a spoon extra. It was 7pm and they had a full try of oxtails- she was like searching for the ones to give me (I thought she was gonna weigh them) like they were precious. It was 20 bucks for basically 2 sides with a kids portion of oxtails and then they do that thing where they show the screen with the top option like I was gonna add a tip on top of that. Ordered with uber eats ordered a large oxtail rice and beans plantains 2 beef patties and a slice of carrot cake my oxtail were so tuff and very very salty and extra hot I couldn't even eat it they said they were out of plantains before I got the order which was fine but I also ordered beef patties that wasn't in the order when it arrived small pieces of oxtail that was more consistent with a small order I wasted $50 never ordering from them again. read more

So I've rode past this place a few times. Yesterday my man and I decided we wanted some Jamaican food for dinner. I told him let's give this place a try. When we first walked in I could smell the aroma of the delicious food. Big deal for me because I believe you should smell good food. They have sitting if you want to dine in. Their place was neat and clean. The food was in warmers with see through glass, so you're able to watch them prepare your platter. Tried this place for the first time, last week. Pleasant staff; I ordered rice and peas, oxtail and yams with additional sides of Mac and cheese, cabbage. Didn't really "hit" for me. I've only been to Irie Mon twice, and the first experience was great! I talked to the owner, she was extremely pleasant, and I enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, my second visit to place a larger order was horrible. When I came into the store, no one was out front, so I waited a few minutes before saying, "Hello?" Nobody responded, I tried again within a couple of minutes, and it was surprising that I seemed to be able to see someone in the back room that should've been able to hear me but failed to respond. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt, thinking that maybe they were finishing up an order, stirring food, etc., so I called for help two additional times before a woman came out front. Before she came out, I noticed during the last two times that this woman was placing things into trash bags, so I was surprised that she didn't stop to wash her hands and just grabbed some gloves to serve me food. She was totally rude, looked at me as if I was bothering her, and when I started ordering I paused for a second -- excusing myself -- to pick up the phone since I had left a message to see if one of my sons wanted something. As I was talking, she looked as if I was annoying her and she literally headed toward the back again! At that point, I'd had enough of this EXTREMELY RUDE and TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL woman with an ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE ATTITUDE! I'll never go there again. read more

I love going to Irie Mon more than twice a week for lunch. Best Jamaican food and service in South Jersey. I'm so glad I found them! Food always fresh and delicious. Not terrible, but has room for improvement. It's pricy (I spent about $80 on delivery - 2 large entrees and few extra sides), so I'm compelled to share my thoughts for the sake of others. I'll start with the best part of my order: the oxtail! Plenty of meat, chewy cartilage, fall-off-the bone meat, and excellent flavor. It was the main thing I was craving so it was nice to score on that. I also got the jerk chicken meal: Nice sized pieces, but the chicken was dry and hard, and it needed more sauce. It would have also been nice if there was an option to make it spicier - the way it normally comes, it wasn't spicy at all (I guess I shouldn't have assumed it would be). The rice and peas was on the dry side, with some chunks that were just hard and inedible (I ordered an extra side of rice and peas and the container wasn't shut all the way, so the rice spilled in the bag; other side containers were not fully shut). Plantains were also very dry with, again, parts that were so hard that they were not edible. I'm a big fan of Jamaican steamed cabbage and mac and cheese, and theirs was not bad. First and foremost taste was really great but was disappointed with the portion of jerk chicken she seemed to give me two platters of bones with no meat which I was really disappointed with, I did ask for just white meat but was not given that I understand it was a lunch special but wow to just receive bones that's enough to make me not go back especially since others actually give a decent portion of meat enough for leftovers and yes LUNCH SPECIALS!!!! read more
