Large jerk pork with cooked greens ($17)

I really wanted to like everything about this place, and the jerk pork was tender and flavorful (and super fatty). The rice and beans and cooked greens however were mushy, sad accompaniments.

My family and I went to Truro for a week. While down there we finally got the chance to try Irie Eats. We went 5 times in one week either for lunch of breakfast. My wife is Jamaican and this was authentic as it gets. The owner is wonderful. We had the ackee and salt fish for breakfast and jerk pork for lunch. Absolutely delicious do not miss out on this food its amazing !

Irie eats is in a small shack of a building that draws you in with its fun, bright colors. I didn't know what to expect when I walked in. The aroma when you walk in the door makes you want to try everything. We ordered their fried chicken (based on a previous review) and their jerk chicken. Both were served over a generous helping of rice and beans along with a refreshing slaw. The fried chicken had a different flavor profile compared to a more southern buttermilk fried chicken. That being said, it was delicious! The jerk chicken had the perfect amount of spice and heat Both types of chicken were moist and delicious. Will definitely go back again, my husband can't wait to try the curry goat!

Loved this place once upon a time. Not open everyday and porridge was favorite but unavailable now.

Quite a variety on hand that we don't have back home. Note: The accents are thick. If you have questions about what some of the foods are, good luck. But it's worth it. I was torn between jerk pork and stewed peas. With pig tails! and beef, that was the winner. I love how the server started to ladle in the rice and beans, and then stopped herself because they are so used to serving locals / Carribean natives, they are used to a certain homestyle way of serving things. No no, I made sure they served exactly the way they would make it for their own people. And grabbed some rum cake and sweet potato pudding (with raisins!) on the way out. How good are those? Well shut my mouth (if you get the reference). Brought it home, unpacked, demolished. What a delicious meal. I just got a medium and that was enough for my large appetite. A large would be for two people or to have leftovers for another day. The pig tails had bones so I had to pick those with my hands (whee!), and there were a couple of stewed white yams lurking in there as well. I also note that a majority of the building is a grocery store with all sorts of ethnic goods, if you want to try cooking for yourself or for a taste of the islands all the way up here on the Cape. I call this "cafe" a hidden local gem that deserves more attention from y'all.

I could already tell that the restaurant knew what it wanted to be when I saw the wall at the left-hand side of the dining room: a mural of a hillside town, lounging cozily between day and night against the crash of the sea. The saturated, uniform hues of the plates also helped establish a faraway yet subdued atmosphere, never once jumping on its high horse to establish excellence. I felt this time that going for a $25-$30-something main dish was too filling for lunch, so I considered myself lucky when I saw that the appetizer menu had several cultural highlights, chiefly the Jamaican peanuts and the jibarito sandwich. It's safe to say I'm not ashamed of either of these choices. The peanuts combined a familiar grainy sweetness with a gentle dollop of spice, topped with a roasted texture that let it melt in my mouth like never before. That's the bee's knees! The jibarito was nice. The messiness of the sandwich made it more appealing, in my opinion. The fact that it was arranged between two giant slices of fried plantain instead of bread gave me a heads-up that this was not just a tried-and-true Caribbean flavor, it was a meal made from the heart. *Crick* *Cruuuunch* Speaking of heart, the staff did a fair job of making our meal memorable. Kindness was a priority when it came to my experience. They didn't mind letting us wait for a guest who was ten minutes late. While the second helping took a bit longer than anticipated despite the venue not being crowded (my party was pressed for time that day), the end result was lovely. If one wishes to demonstrate style in their restaurant, then they ought to combine it with just as much substance; that's what I got during my visit.

The service has always been a focus and Anastasia (one of the owners) clearly dedicates herself to training her staff to the high standards that she models every night. Myself and my extended family have been repeat customers ever since Ryan and Anastasia opened Casa del Cabo and we have never had a bad night. Tonight was no exception with respect to the food, service and the entertainment (shout out to Derek!!) but sadly there was a couple who could not seem to grasp that when nature (over which NO human has control) literally rains on their parade and had a major toddler size tantrum directed at Anastasia in full view and earshot of the other diners in the outside dining area. Unnecessary, unpleasant and unfortunate. They had the temerity to take her picture and still she maintained her composure and professionalism. I was so sad that they felt the need to act out and embarrass themselves like that.
