Overall this was one of the nicer cages I've been to around Chicago. This is one of their few locations in the city featuring their mini bitesized doughnuts in several flavors. I decided to try their seasonal basil mint mocha drink and I was very surprised by how well everything mixed together and tasted. The latte art was prime and looked very well crafted. Overall one of my hands down favorite cafes I've been to around Chicago. The actual scene was quiet more in the early afternoon, but got more louder as more people came in. Seating was pretty rough and got pretty crowded. There wasn't too many spots to sit to get work done but the wifi had pretty good speeds. The cafe got pretty loud and somewhat distracting but this was a Saturday afternoon/evening. read more

Thanks to their no-drip-coffee-after-4pm policy, I couldn't but try an iced coffee, instead. This is the best iced coffee to me. I have enjoyed cold brew coffee, but accepted that fresh coffee aroma I love from pourover drip must be sacrificed in cold brew. However, Ipsento's iced coffee was quite different. It was full of very fresh coffee aroma, but it also had a note of cold brew although I don't believe it is cold brew. I filled my tumbler with it on the way to the 606 trail, and refilled it and filled another tumbler on the way back home. I wish I could visit more often, but it is quite far from the north area. Still thank them for opening this new location as it is still more convenient (in terms of parking and nearby traffic) to visit than their original store. + I tasted my wife's iced mocha with almond milk. It was so-so. I don't recommend it. read more

Came in here to grab coffee the other day.. cute coffee store, it was crowded with people going in and out. There were people on laptops sitting in there drinking their drinks. I needed coffee and it's a block away from where I am staying. The cashier was friendly and I got my coffee right away. I would come back here for coffee or try one of the other drinks on the menu. read more

Stopped by this place after another hot chocolate bar was closed for the holidays and I must say Wow! We ordered an Iced Nutella Latte, Basil Mint Mocha, Hot Chocolate, Vanilla Latte, and a dozen donuts. Iced Nutella Latte - I was very surprised! Often these drinks come out too sweet, but this stuck the right balance without being very bitter. Basil Mint Mocha - You can really taste the basil! Recommended as a nice warm drink. Hot Chocolate - Rich and creamy, yum! Vanilla Latte - One of the best lattes I have tasted. Donuts - These are so mini! When I was looking at the reviews I didn't realize that the donuts were mini because they are so detailed! We bought a dozen and they came in a cute little box. Atmosphere - very warm and comfortable, I could spend a lot of time here! read more

This is my favorite coffee spot in Chicago. I prefer the 606 location over the Ipsento on Western because of the cheese boards they offer here. I could eat one of those babies every single day, my god they're delectable. The sandwiches are awesome as well. There is also way more seating at this location, although it is sometimes hard to find a seat if you come during prime hours. That just tells you how amazing this spot is! read more

This is old review, so bare with me for not posting it when I should have... This was by far one of the more classy places in Chicago that serve coffee. I really enjoyed my night here after a long day of being at a conference. The coffee was good, not great, but not bad. I would say the atmosphere was my favorite part. I got there a little on the late side so it was already dark when I went inside. Apperantly they don't have the lights on after a certain time, and when I walked in it was nothing but candles lit everywhere. A very calm, and relaxing environment to drink your coffee, and read a good book. I would even go here after dinner, and spend it with your partner or spouse. read more

Omg please try the ipsento latte. I got mine iced . It's such a magical combination of flavors!! Espresso + honey + cayenne + combo of coconut and whole milk. I knew it would be good, but it exceeded expectations. Truthfully I can't say say the same for the ipsento mini donut, but it was good as well for only a dollar. I've been wanting to try this place since moving to wicker park as it's right off the 606 and it just looks SO COOL with the windows open. It's a great spot for relaxing, studying, etc. good spot overall! read more

I have been frequenting this place for the past 2 weeks. After today, I don't think I'll ever go back. I mean, the coffee is great, for the most part. The staff is horrendous. I ordered a 12 oz latte. And I believe this is an 8 oz?? Idkk. The previous times I ordered a 12 oz, I got the larger cup. I kindly asked the barista is this the 12 oz or the 8 oz and she very rudely said the ticket said 8 oz so that's what it is (Sunday October 15th around 11:30 am, female barista). So then I thought maybe the cashier heard me wrong or I ordered wrong. So then to double check myself I asked the barista could you check my order and she confirmed this was the 12 oz. As I walked away I heard the barista very rudely scream "I just told her." I get it was a Sunday and it was busy maybe she was overwhelmed / stressed but no need to be outwardly rude, it made me never want to go back / recommend the place. I rarely write a bad review or review in general TBH but when you're paying almost $8 for a little latte plus a $1 tip..... you would expect to be treated nice and feel welcomed. If you're the owner and you're reading this, please try to check which staff member this was to train better :) like I said, GREAT coffee, truly, but horrible staff. If you see in the picture, this is the smaller cup they have out of the 2 cups but somehow that is the "12 oz" read more

Loved it! I had first tried Ipsento Coffee at another cafe in LaGrange IL that serves Ipsento. I had ordered the Guatemala Huehuetenango pour-over and fell in love. I saw that the coffee shop sold the exact coffee and out of curiosity searched the company only to find out they have a couple locations in Chicago! We also had a taste of each of their little donuts and the cinnamon sugar was my favorite! I tried both of their cheese boards which were a yummy and filling snack. We'll be back again as I love that they're open til 11pm. I ended up getting the Guatemala coffee (being Guatemalan I had to get it and plus I loved it that much). See you soon, Ipsento! read more

I really like this cafe. Very convenient right off the 606. It was very crowded but service was fast. They served these small donuts that came in six flavors. I tried all six. They had three that we're chocolate glazed. They were pretty small so you won't really be full but delicious. The iced coffee was quite amazing. One of the best I've had in a while. They also have a selection of beer which I will try next time. They had a decent amount of space to get work done and fast wifi. I will probably come here often to work. read more

Being in Ipsento 606 made me feel instantly hip. The minimalist décor is beautiful (even the bathroom where there are plants). The music selection was on point, and they were playing Fitz and the Tantrums, which I really enjoyed. Most of the seating is bar height so not intended for long stays and it definitely gets cozy (tight). I felt a little sandwiched at the counter and could clearly see what my neighbors were working on. There is a day to night transformation when the lights are dimmed and music cranked up for alcoholic drinks and the evening crowd. Baristas were skilled in their craft and very friendly! While I don't feel the late afternoon/early evening vibe was very conducive to working, it's a nice place to chill and the chai latte was excellent. read more

Conveniently located at a 606 entrance, this coffee shop has plenty of stools available Sunday at midday, and the line was only 2 people deep! Prices are reasonable for a coffee bar, and they do serve food till 4pm, desserts, and alcohol! No laptops after 7pm, and the music is a bit loud to be listening to lectures, otherwise I will definitely come back when studying! Most importantly, their coffee selection is fantastic, and they do have pour overs till 3pm! Definitely check this place out! This is heartbreaking and disappointing. My partner and I met here 2 years ago so we like coming in every year to celebrate. Sadly, the barista today was a bad one. From the beginning, he did not greet us or thanked us and he was so sloppy making our coffees. He got the order wrong. He spilled the coffees, everything was sticky and without any effort to make it presentable. He certainly did not seem to even want to be here. He needs customer service training or find a job he actually appreciates. read more

I got the Ipsento signature latte, made with espresso, honey, coconut milk, and an added kick of cayenne pepper. Was a little skeptical at first but if you can tolerate anything spicy, this coffee is THE one to try. It's different, but definitely a favorite. Ipsento 606 has my favorite coffee in the city. I grew up in Chicago, I've been to many a coffee shop, and this is still the one I constantly recommend to friends who visit. The cardamom rose latte is my favorite drink, but I'd recommend the Nutella latte as well. This shop is always packed and there's not much seating, so it's not somewhere I come to work. I'd recommend grabbing a drink and walking through Wicker Park. Lots of fun boutiques and art in the area. They don't have a parking lot, but street parking in this area is relatively cheap comparatively to Chicago's parking scene. As of this review, it's $4 for 2 hours of street parking. If I'm not trying a new shop or showing first-time-chi visitors around the Loop, I come back to Ipsento 606 every time. read more

Two young white male baristas just treated my partner and I incredibly aggressively and disrespectfully here. Instead of politely informing my girlfriend that her face covering was insufficient by their entry standards, the young man immediately and rudely told her she needed to go get a mask (even though it turns out they have masks that they offer patrons) We left immediately but decided to go back in (properly masked this time) to ask for an apology. Instead, we were met by another aggressive young white man who refused to hear us out or provide his name unless we first ordered a drink. Completely hurt by their lack of humanity, compassion, and ability to talk to us with dignity or respect. As a queer black woman, I was strongly tempted to pull their BLM sign down from the window on my way out so others wouldn't mistakenly think they were entering a safe place. read more

What a nice lil addition to the neighborhood ! Wish they were around when I lived a few blocks away and jogged the 606 a few times a week . Solid lattés and iced coffee's . I usually order whatever specialty coffee a coffee shop has so I tried the nutella latté but it was too sweet for my liking and I can do sweet. They have the cutest lil tiny baby dougnuts I usually get for my daughter and I to share. Best coffee shop on the 606, in my opinion. Ipsento's biggest fault, it's proximity to me. I have learned a little self control since it's opening but still spend 5x more on coffee than I usually do. My husband literally just ran down to grab us evening lattes. This is a clean, modern, and in layman's terms, just really cool coffee shop/bar. You heard right, BAR! I have popped in a for a few of their cocktails, and, amazing. I think they rotate both their cocktails and beers but I'm not completely certain. The staff here is always friendly. They know my name. At least the morning guys do. As far as their coffees and lattes go, hands down, the best. Apparently they have this expensive filtration system and use reverse osmosis water. If anything go for the water and ambiance. read more

I want to emphasize that this place is fine but I just personally do not like it. Most people do like it. The wait time for a coffee is too long. It doesn't seem to matter what I order, it just takes too long. The tiny donuts are cute but not that good. It's pricey for a coffee shop. I like the vibe better at several other coffee shops. I always seem to be in a line of people and I'm always being bumped into at Ipsento. There is no one singular problem with it, I just don't like it very much. Edit - After reading some other reviews, I also agree that the coffee is usually too hot. That fits with my review. There is nothing overwhelmingly bad, it just isn't my spot. IDK. read more

Nice minimalist coffee shop right off the 606 trail on Milwaukee. Will say that it's a bit of a far walk from the action on the Milwaukee strip though. I got a cardamom rose latte with whole milk. The small size is excruciatingly small, so I'd opt for a bigger size. There's some art from Sentrock on the wall. The coffee bar is sittable, so this is a nice touch. Coat hooks are in the back wall near the bathrooms if you want to unload some of your bulk. Lots of different clientele right after Thanksgiving when we went in: people getting work done, families, friends grabbing a drink, couples stopping in. Pretty good atmosphere. I think I saw some beers on draft as well. Believe they have another location. Will probably come back to this one some other time too. read more

A true coffee bar. I visited on a Tuesday night around 8pm on my self-guided Blue Line Coffee Tour. At night the coffee menu is limited because they focus on alcohol sales, but its still a good time to get a cortado. And man, is it good! And unique! The only cortado I have drank that is made with 3 (yes, 3!!) shots of espresso. Beware, you may not sleep for a while after a cortado from this place. Then ambiance at night is classy and calming with the dimmed lights and candle lit room. The layout of the coffee bar focuses my attention on the main reason I visited here: the back-to-back Slayer espresso machines--they are beautiful! The baristas/bartenders are super friendly--chat with them!--and down to earth. read more

Dragging myself through O'Hare, I knew I needed a good jolt of caffeine before hitting the parking lot known as the Chicago highway leading to downtown loop. I quickly yelped and saw Ipsento as a good place and it did not disappoint. This is a neighbourhood coffee place that has a lot of cozy seating where a lot of quiet groups of people are working. Service is warm and helpful... I was debating between a dirty chai or their seasonal REAL pumpkin spice coffee drink. I ended up getting a dirty chai and it was a good one as you can taste a balance of the espresso shot and spices. It wasn't overly sweet which was a nice relief. If I'm ever in this spot again, I'll definitely come back to try more of their coffees. Great place and would recommend. read more

That is to say: I am not throwing words of praise like "one of a kind" and "phenomenal" around lightly. Both are different and still amazing. Sparrow has a vibe straight out of the 1920s. The decor, signage, use of color, and absence of screens or TV's all contribute to the theme. The music is also appropriate and plays at the perfect volume to be pleasant without forcing one to raise their voice. I tried the Green Daisy and a House Old Fashioned. The Green Daisy was boozy and had some herbaceous notes. A little tartness and a little sweetness helped balance the drink out and make for a phenomenal sipper. I loved the creativity with this one! The House Old Fashioned was also well done, assembled with quality ingredients in balance with one another. Nothing wrong with a well-executed classic. The prices are more or less reasonable considering the location and overall market, with bevies costing around $16. The bar staff is excellent! Very friendly and welcoming! Final verdict: A spot where I can say come for the drinks and stay for the vibe. It's the kind of place where walking in you are transported a century into the past. I ordered the horchata 2 ways cocktail which was $12 for haply hour and is typically $16. $12 is the highest amount for a happy hour cocktail that I have ever paid and I dont think it was worth it. The 1st sip was good but it was a very sweet drink and I was over it by the end. The drink also was half a very heavy cream so when you drank it you were drinking the liquid but not getting much of the cream. So you either had to lick the cream off the top or drink on the liquid and then either leave the cream or somehow scoop it out with your tongue so not really a well conceived cocktail. One of the fun and unique things about the bar is they bring out free tapas every once in a while similar to bars in Spain. They brought out edamame to the people at the bar right around 5pm and a group next to me asked at around 530pm if more tapas would come out and the bar person said the come out every 45 mins. I was there til around 630pm and another round of tapas never came out so do not expect that if you go. They did not give you water unless you specific ask for it which I though was odd, I heard 3 groups besides myself at the bar who had to ask for water, especially since this is supposed to be a nice cocktail bar and this is just one of my pet peeves but the water did not contain ice and was closer to room temperature which is not how I enjoy my water. Despite not being super crowded I had to ask for the check from 2 different people and it took 15 mins for them to bring it so if it is crowded I expect they will have pretty slow service. They do bring you a fortune cookie woth your check where you can potentially win a discount on your check or other prizes which is fun. Unfortunately the fortune cookie tastes a bit stale. I would say that this place is not worth it for happy hour but it had a cool but very dark vibe in there so it might be good for a romantic date depending on how good the food is.

Ipsento is truly a gem for coffee lovers! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that instantly set the tone for a wonderful experience. Coffee: The coffee here is exceptional. Every sip of my espresso was rich and flavorful, showcasing the skill and care put into each cup. They source high-quality beans and prepare them with precision, ensuring that every brew is nothing short of stellar. I also appreciated the variety of options on the menu, catering to all kinds of preferences, from classic espresso drinks to unique seasonal specials. Staff: The staff at Ipsento is equally impressive. They are not only knowledgeable about their offerings but also genuinely friendly and eager to help. I felt welcomed and valued as a customer. Their passion for coffee shines through in their conversations, and they are happy to make recommendations based on personal tastes. Cleanliness: One of the standout aspects of Ipsento is how clean and well-maintained the space is. The tidy environment adds to the overall positive experience, making it a pleasant place to sit and enjoy your coffee. Overall, Ipsento is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates great coffee, a welcoming atmosphere, and a clean space to relax. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu! To clarify, they don't tell you it's almond milk UNLESS you ask for another milk. Then they ask if they can just use almond milk instead of what you ordered. I can't figure out why a shop would use a very common allergen milk automatically in a drink that almost always defaults to dairy milk. But then I saw that they make their matcha in a blender bottle lol. So it's probably because dairy milk foams up when you aggressively shake it like that. Efficiency, I guess? That also means the matcha is really grainy. I've heard bad things about their other teas too. I guess it's just one of those shops that wants you to suffer if you don't drink coffee. That's the vibe it gives anyway. My wife says the coffee is top notch. It's super quiet in there. So if you want to chat over a tasty tea, you're gonna have a bad time. Turns out that the door is somewhat hard to open, and fortunately the gentleman sitting in the window alerted us to push real hard. Turns out while we were there, he was the unofficial doorman letting others know to push real hard. Since the flight was unavailable, we decided to have breakfast. The Queen got the Best Damn Ham & Egg (bacon, ham, egg, and pepper jack cheese on a croissant) and I got the Breakfast Burrito (sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and cheddar cheese wrapped in a flour tortilla, side of salsa). Both of these were quite good, fresh in flavor. I also got a cranberry orange scone, which was also quite tasty. Before I could ask if they could warm it up, they offered to do so. The staff was pleasant. Once you place your order at the front counter, they will call you up to the front to pick up your drinks and eats. I have to also mention that they were playing some great dusty tunes to groove on a Sunday morning. I thought the prices were pretty reasonable, especially when you compare it to a Starbucks. Avocado Toast under $10, yes you heard that right. I can definitely see myself coming back here on an early Sunday morning to just chill, drink and eat, it was that much fun. We actually came back after the Cubs game, though, because I still wanted to give The Bakehouse another chance. This time I ordered an iced matcha, and I liked it SO much better. It was rich and sweet without being too much, and definitely a nice treat after the game. My original latte was around $8, the iced matcha was also about $8, and the slice of Oreo cheesecake was $6.50. The place itself is nice inside and the dining room area was clean. There isn't much room to wait for your order, though, and honestly, I would have changed the side of the counter where you order vs. where you pick it up. The door of the cafe is on the left side of the building, then you have to walk through people in a super narrow area to order, and then you have to pick up the food on the left side of the counter, just to move to the right again to sit in the dining room. Just a weird set up. Overall, I'd come back, but I'd personally skip the coffee drinks since Dark Matter just isn't for me. The matcha and cheesecake, though? I'd absolutely order those again.
