If you haven't had your septic pumped (recommended every 3-5 years depending on family size and…read moreusage) then you need to before you end up like us! Last night at midnight I was doing dishes, running the dishwasher and running the laundry machine and walked into the master bathroom and water was flowing out of the drain in the shower (which is right outside of the septic area outside). I stood in the shower plugging up the drain with my foot and was ankle deep as I watched it flow into our bedroom on the carpet! My husband got the shop vac and my kids got towels and we went to work to try to stop the flow and devise a plan. My friend recommended that I call vet septic because they just had this issue a month or so ago! It was after hours but a guy named Brandon walked me through what to do immediately. There is a white cap on the outside of the house that he had me open, and that released pressure and water came out of the pipe and the shower drained and flooding subsided! Grateful for relief we clorox wiped and cleaned as best as we could and made it a point to not flush or put anything down the drains until they got out here. This morning they squeezed us in and Brandon took the time to educate me on what to do next time and on everything septic. He also said to make it easier next time we can install a riser and he won't have to dig to pump the waste. He ended up finding that the installers put a riser on but it wasn't above ground so he offered to install one this week or we could come pick up the part and install it ourselves to save money. Times are tough right now with inflation so I appreciate the DIY option! I put them on my Google calendar schedule to come back in two years, since our sludge level was so deep and we have a big family, and he'll reassess our sludge layer and see if we can go longer next time. We built our home and this was the first time we have had to pump it. I'm glad they were available at midnight to walk us through what to do to stop the water flowing, and today to fit us in so we can get back to using our toilets! I highly recommend them because I always appreciate a company that will take the time to educate their customers! You can tell they aren't solely in it for the money, because time is money, and they offered a DIY option. Thank you, Brandon and Vet Septic!
