This company lies about their turnaround time. Every time you call no one knows anything or can provide a simple answer. Their phone representatives are useless. This uncertainty gives mothers anxiety because we don't know if the sample is good, if we have to redo the test, when will it be done, estimated time frame. We Jade given no information or peace of mind. They've had my sample for 9 days and no one knows when it will be done and all it says is lab processing. Don't believe any of the bad reviews this company is amazing!!! They are so quick to get the results back and if your having any issues and you call you speak to a person immediately. The website states (and my healthcare provider told me) that results on NIPT are received within 5-7 CALENDAR DAYS. I am now on calendar day 15 since my sample was received and have not heard a word from anyone. Cannot recommend this company at all, service is extremely poor. I sent my saliva sample off on April 22, 2022. Received a call on May 17, 2022 that there waa an alleged "leakage" of my sample. When I called Invitae, I was informed that the mouthpiece was left on the test tube," which is absolutely not true. My test tube was rightly sealed and fit into the compartment in the return box, which it would not have if the mouthpiece was still attached to the test tube. Si, where is MY test tube of saliva?!? The staff at Invitae did not listen when I kept stating that my test tube did not have the mouthpiece attached. They just kept offering to send a new test kit to me. Completely out of the question. Would not trust this company to test the urine of a dead fly. Again, where is MY DNA saliva sample?!? read more

My situation is very similar to other reviews. I was not expecting this type of service when going there for lab work. I really hope they figure things out. My doctor referred me for testing. A few days after I went for bloodwork, I received a text from Invitae saying that the estimated out-of-pocket cost was $1,000. The very next day, two texts came with the info "unfortunately the test was not covered by your health insurance" and "instead, we offer a patient pay price of $250." I called my health insurance to find that no claim had been submitted yet, so an advocate from my health insurance company would look into it and get back to me in 3-5 days. But, the next day, I received a call from Invitae attempting to collect a "past due balance of $250." I contacted them back immediately to ask how there is a past due balance when I haven't received an invoice or results yet. The representative was so rude and condescending that it was unreal. She told me to look in the patient portal, the mail was slow and sometimes the calls start before the invoice arrives, my healthcare provider would have my results today or tomorrow, and the provider should call me. The rep also said she would note my account that the health insurance was looking into the invoice, but the texts and/or calls about the past due amount would not stop until paid. I feel terrible about using this company now - and I still don't know my results! read more

Its a shit show. Nobody is in same page. They don't keep track of what test is being done or how u take it. I did 2 saliva ones. 1st one they threw out after telling me they hold it for 6 months while I was waiting to verify insurance coverage. Then had another mobile kab calling daily to set up blood draw. Looks like they billed my insurance well above the preferred rate they agreed to. After being told I'm covered 100% and that deductible isn't used for this test I get eob saying I owe 542.00. Not paying . Nope. I seriously question if the results are even mine. Would give zero stars. I had lab orders submitted on 9/19/22 and received on 9/21/22. I received no updates to my portal to alert me on the status of my labs. When I called to inquire what was going on, they attempted to blame my provider for not responding to their email request and therefore my labs were placed in a holding pattern. They (as policy) never alert the patient (only the provider) if something is wrong. My provider reached out to the company as she never received any notification that there was a problem. They could not articulate what the issue was. Therefore, my labs needed to be redrawn. I resubmitted them with the order placed on 9/27/22 and received on 9/28/22. I called the lab at the 5 day point to check on my lab status. I was told it was still processing. I called again the next day and they told me to expect something "by the end of the week" because they are "backlogged." Your labs will not be handled with respect and you will not be notified if there is a problem. Your labs will not be completed in the timeframe that they state. If you want your labs held hostage, send them here. If you want actual results, go somewhere else. read more

I sent in my sample to get the cancer screening panel, and am apalled at how long it takes to get results, for what is a truly commoditized product! There is a chat feature on the website, but never are any agents available. Would echo the reviews from other customers here, especially with respect to billing and customer service. If for any reason you need something resolved with respect to billing it's very difficult to even contact someone -- they evidently do not respond to emails -- and once you talk to anyone they are not able to resolve a single issue. read more

I was told my test was pre-certified and there would be no cost to me, so I agreed to go ahead with it. Thereafter, I was sent a test to complete. I took the test and sent it back in the mail. Come to find out the pre-cert was denied because they did not provide adequate info. So they redid the pre-cert and it was approved. Insurance doesn't want to cover it now because the test is dated before the 2d pre-cert and now Invitae expects me to pay them for the test. I would never use this company again. Incredibly sneaky and dishonest billing. I had genetic testing done and before my test was even ordered I asked how much the test would cost. I was told most insurances cover the cost of if I pay out of pocket it is never more than approximately $200 dollars. When I received my bill the total was $3700 for basic genetic testing my insurance was billed $900. And I was sent a remainder to pay of $1800. Quite a big difference from my expected $200. After calling to inquire about the huge disparity. I was told I had missed the deadline to pay the smaller price. I then asked to speak to a supervisor and was told I could get a call back later in the day. It has been 3 days. No call. I have emailed multiple times with no response. No one is willing to help me and either charge me a late fee or reverse the billing to my insurance. Horrendous customer service. Please do not receive genetic testing with this company. I got a test ordered appropriately from a generic counselor. They sent a prior authorization to my insurance, and when they was not approved, refused to submit a claim. The PA was actually going to go through with review... I spoke to the insurance and verified this. They billed me as self pay, which I didn't agree to. Multiple phone calls, they still refuse to submit a claim to my insurance. They said the insurance had to request it. I had my insurance rep call them while I was on hold on the other line... They STILL refused to submit a claim to the insurance company. This borders on insurance fraud, and now they're automated billing robots is calling to remind me my bill is due. I was told that I would need to go online and pay for the test before they ran it, I went online and could not find a place to pay for it because I didn't have an Order Number. Very little transparency with billing. After you pay your $250 for a testing panel, you will also need to may ~$400 for genome medical geneticist visits. I assumed it was all included in the initial $250. There was no mention of the additional costs. I would most likely not have done the panel if I knew about the additional costs owed after results are given. read more

Was offered to pay out of pocket for $250. Once you give them your insurance, they tell you an estimate. My estimate was that payment out of pocket using insurance would be less than $100. I now am sent to collections and keep getting calls that I owe over $500 (insurance already paid). They call me and no one comes to the phone. All I wanted was to cancel an online account that I had created with them, since I would be going through a different provider for my testing. I had not even used their service up to this point. First they responded by saying that I had received testing a couple months ago and they couldn't cancel anything now. I had NOT received any testing - literally all I had done was create an online account. Two emails later, they still don't seem to know who I am. It's a little concerning that a company responsible for handling sensitive genetic information would immediately mix me up with another patient, and seem to not have the slightest idea what happened 3 days later. read more

I had my NIPT lab test drawn on 12/21, received and "processing" on 12/22, and it has been sitting for two weeks now with zero progress. Result time for this type of test is advertised as 5-7 days. Even with the holidays, I am well beyond that point. I am in contact with MANY people who got their blood draw after me, and got results days ago. When I call the lab, they tell me they cannot give me a timeframe I can expect my results or a reasoning for why it is taking so long. *Update*: talked to a representative on day 14 and they told me that they haven't even started processing my sample yet. There was no explanation as to why. Who even knows if they have it at this point or if I will ever get results. This lab is obviously extremely disorganized. I would run far, FAR away from this company and get your test through someone else. This has been a complete nightmare in what should have been a good pregnancy experience. read more

Apparently 3+ months is a suitable turnaround time for expanded genetic carrier testing, and I still haven't received any results. Don't use this company. My insurance requested a pre-approval before they would authorize this test. Invitee could not analyze the first test. They lost the second specimen. The third test was a blood test, then they refused to give the insurance company the requested information, so I got stuck with the bill. My employee contribution to my health insurance is $503 a month, with a $1,000 deductible. Now I am stuck with an additional bill of over $3,000 for this test, which I was told was pre-approved. read more

I had a panel drawn by my doctors office for my pregnancy. Within two days Invitae was texting me and emailing me saying my insurance wouldn't cover the test and I needed to pay $100 out of pocket or my results would be withheld. I contacted my insurance with the billing code and they said they never even got a claim for the test. Contacted Invitae who said I was out of network and out of criteria for the test and I needed my provider to submit proof the the test was of medical necessity. Called my insurance again and told them. They said I have out of network coverage and I wasn't out of criteria for the test. I called Invitae and they continued to tell me that my insurance said I was out of criteria even after I continued to tell them I just spoke with my insurance and there weren't any criteria like they were referring to. Invitae refused to listen and said they wouldn't submit the claim since it was immediately going to be denied by my insurance because I didn't meet the criteria. Totally ridiculous. read more

Required multiple phone calls and emails to get my simple questions about billing answered because this place is (1) understaffed and (2) incapable of actually reading and responding to an email- they will either not respond, or if they eventually do respond after several days, then they won't answer the question you asked. Unless you have lots of time to spend calling and emailing to figure out simple things (example: how much is the cash pay price vs. what is my copay if I use my insurance?), don't use them. read more

I had PGS done through this company and they are holding my report hostage until they receive thousands of dollars. They informed my doctors office that they accept insurance, but decided once my report was done they were no longer going to accept insurance and are now trying to force me to pay it and be reimbursed by my insurance. Not only is this unethical, but this is illegal!!!! DONOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They are scam artist. There is one person working in billing and although he is nice, he is incompetent.
